Q. Tell us something about yourself. When and why did you enter in the competitive exam field?

I belong to business family brought up by dedicated parents. Since my childhood I had been always interested in G.K,Political issues,current affairs. I entered in the competitive exam field in my 4th year of engineering. Civil services is the one of the best way to serve the country.

Essay/Descriptive paper

Q. How did you prepare the Essay, grammar, précis and report writing?

As I am preparing for civils I did not do specific preparation for essay and report writing .For grammar and précis just revised basic grammar book before the exam.

Q. In CAPF-2012 Exam, Which essay did you write in and what keypoints did you include in it?

I wrote “Emergence of regional parties and its effect on the federal structure of India ”. As I said I  was intrested in political issues, l had sufficient knowledge  and fodder material for this topic. Keypoints I included in my answer includes -reasons for the emergence of regional parties,chrological order of emergence of some important regional parties, their effect on national parties from Nehruvian era to Sonia- manmohan  era, pros and cons of their emergence ,added relevant current issues .

Q. In CAPF-2012, they asked counter-arguments for following, in 75 words. Please provide your answer.

(i) FDI in retail in India is a bane for a small trader. Small trader fear that they may not be able to compete with world class large companies and may ultimately be edged out of business. This argument is not true .In short term he is bound to have effect because of inefficiency  and small size. But in the long term country benefits from    improved  forex  position of the country, employment generation and increase in production, help in capital formation by bringing fresh capital, helps in transfer of new technologies, management skills,.  increases competition within the local market and this brings higher efficiencies ultimately helping small trader.
(ii)  Control of social media is an anti-democratic proposition. Though social media is the product of democracy .Lack of control of social media leads to chaos and anarchy. British-American entrepreneur and author  Andrew keen criticizes social media in his  writing, “Out of this anarchy, it suddenly became clear that what was governing the infinite monkeys now inputting away on the Internet was the law of digital Darwinism, the survival of the loudest and most opinionated”.

Physical Test

Q. To pass Physical Efficiency Tests (PET), what preparation did you do at home? Where was your PET held? How was your experience, share some tips.

As I am not a sportsman PET became toughest part in the entire exam. I started   preparing for PET 15 days before my test at IARI ,  delhi  as it is near to my residence. Learn   the technique for   long jump, without that it is   very  difficult to succeed.

Interview

Q. What specific preparation did you do for the interview? Who was the chairman? Provide the list of questions asked in CAPF Interview. How was the overall interview experience? And any tips for future aspirants.

I did not join any caching for interview. Filling DAF form is very important for interview .Expect  some questions from DAF like hobbies ,home state ,home town, educational back ground, work experience…

My board chairman was Manbhir singh.

M1: what are suggestive measures to tackle naxalism?

M2: what is pndt act?

M2: what are the vaccines given at the time of birth?

M3 :how to tackle fake encounters?

M3:shoild police officers be prosecuted based on frivolous complaints?

M4:what is beginning of modren human rights era?

M4:how to tackle pro naxal ngo’s in the intrest of our country?

Suggestions for interview :

  1. DO NOT BLUFF.
  2. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW SAY “I am unable to recollect, sir”.
  3. IF YOU WANT TO GUESS,ASK PERMISSION TO GUESS.
  4. FOR ANALYTICAL QUESTIONS -IT IS ADVISABLE TO TAKE SIDES(IF YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT ,REASONS).BUT DO NOT TAKE EXTREME POSITIONS

Q. How was interview: normal, stress, mixed? Did they ask any uncomfortable questions, if yes how did you answer it?

Overall interview experience is cordial and pleasant. They have not asked any uncomfortable questions.

Tempo

Q. How did you maintain the study-mood, motivation and tempo throughout this period? There are ups and downs- phases of mood swings, sometimes boredom and even depression. How did you fight that psychological battle? On an average, how many hours do you study?

It is impossible to read with same kind of emotion. But keeping our tempo is important for any exam preparation. Like many I too had ups and downs, point is how fast you can come out of your mood  swings and depression. Enjoy your preparation .Do not prepare seriously, prepare it sincerely. On an average I prepared 7-8 hours a day.

Service Preference

Q. What was your service preference order (CRPF>CISF>SSB etc) and why did you pick up the particular order?

CISF>CRPF>BSF>SSB>ITBP..

I had consulted few seniors and friends, regarding choosing service preference, who have certain exposure to CAPF and then decided to give this particular order of choice.

Career Backup

Q. If you were not selected, what was your career backup plan?

As  I am preparing for civils. I will continue to prepare for civil services-2014 exam.

Wisdom

Q. Through this journey and success, what wisdom did you gain about competition and life? What is your message to the aspirants?

Life gives enough chance to succeed at any time, the point is whether you utilize it or not. Never lose hope and confidence in yourself. Never take it as granted  until it is in your  own hands.
