Some interesting facts:
- (perhaps you already know) From CSAT 2013 (common prelims), 1061 candidates had qualified for the IFoS (Forest services) mains examination.
- But out of those 1061 qualified candidates, only 714 candidates bothered to fill up the Mains application form (DAF) for IFoS.
- and out of those 714 candidates only 515 people wrote GK paper. And (According to the official notification for IFoS-2013) total vacancies are 85. So imagine the ‘low’ participation this year!
- Most unpopular subjects: Chemical engineering and statistics (5 candidates each)
- Most popular optional subjects: Geology and Forestry (~170 candidates each)

it is stated that E-Admit Card data for Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2013 is 714 for admitted candidates.

you can take it both are lengthy subjects so better choose one in between botany and zoology

Hello sir i m confused with subject combination for ifos mains weather any subject combination is necessary for science graduate ie PMC PMCSc PMS etc in his whole 3 year duration. Because i have PMM ie physics maths military science bt in final year my subjects are maths physics only.
Sir, is there any possibility of removing the optional subjects from IFoS. I would like to know if changes recommended by BASWAN COMMITTEE are applicable to IFoS also. More specifically I want to know that ifos is much about optional .so is there any possibility that optional itself will be removed .
