Q. Tell us something about yourself. When and why did you enter in the competitive exam field?

I belong from a small yet important  town,Buxar, but did my entire schooling in Patna(capital city of Bihar).I owe my thanks to my parents and my family for giving me the entire resources which and when I needed. My father was an Administrative Officer in the Govt of Bihar,I was inspired by the nature of his work from my early childhood. But the final momentum I got was in my final year of engineering .Though placed I left my job and started the preparation. I got attracted to CAPF exam as there was somewhere in my mind to serve the nation in uniform.

Q. How did you prepare the Essay, grammar, précis and report writing?

As it is my habit to prepare notes of the editorial section I did not specifically prepared essay ,précis .For the grammar section I referred WREN AND MARTIN while for the report format I took the help of Internet.

Q. In CAPF-2012 Exam,. Which essay did you write in and what keypoints did you include in it?

I wrote –Population stabilization- India’s critical need .I mentioned the growth of population, impacts of uncontrolled growth of population on Indian economy ,the downgrading of Indian economy by moody’s and s&p. health concern and mentioned the doctor to patient ration in hospitals, discussed regarding the cycle of unemployment, poverty and illetracy  and linked it with population explosion, environmental problems, and concluded it with my own thought.

Q. In CAPF-2012, they asked counter-arguments for following, in 75 words. Please provide your answer.

(i) FDI in retail in India is a bane for a small trader. India is an agriculture based country and farmers will be benefitted .thus overall economy will rise.

Bunch of small traders available,their proximity and their sense of interaction helps them to sustain the market.

(ii)  Control of social media is an anti-democratic proposition. Discussed mainly about the unethical practices happening there in the social media .

Physical Test

Q. To pass Physical Efficiency Tests (PET), what preparation did you do at home? Where was your PET held? How was your experience, share some tips.

Indeed,it was the toughest part in the entire procedure.But I somehow managed to pass it.My PET was held in ITBP TIGRI,ON 9TH MAY 2013.After my college days I was not active on the field for a long time,  as a result gained a lot of weight while my preparations .At the time of PET I was 88kgs.But I continued the practice for a month and mainly stressed upon the 800m race and long jump(it was a nightmare for me).Before the PET  the fear of disqualification at that stage was there  and it was haunting me continuosly  but I kept calm and succeeded.

Interview

Q. What specific preparation did you do for the interview? Who was the chairman? Provide the list of questions asked in CAPF Interview. (and if possible, the answers as well). How was the overall interview experience? And any tips for future aspirants.

I will thanks to my mentor for the Interview,SUBHASH SINGH THAKUR(TULIKA IAS), MANISH GAUTAM SIR(ALS)  for sharing his experience with me. I appeared for a couple of mock interviews and some guidance session .

My interview was held on 30th july 2013.Interview board chairman wasShri AMAR PRATAP SINGH.

CM : what is number crunching?

M1: (lady in the group): she asked me analytical views when I ended with my explanation. What according to you Mr.Ajit are the necessary traits for being successful? Ability, Hardwork or Good fortune?

M1: But in most of the cases as competition is getting tougher, we have seen that students with all the essential qualifications are dumped at the last step. Is it not the case ?

M1: If your are provided with a complex job through which others have failed , what will be your move to succeed?

M2 : So what kind of institute is BIT Mesra? (private or government funded)(I answered him deemed univ)

M2 : What kind of Deemed university?

M2: Ok what is the major difference between Private and Govt Institute?

M2 : What applications you will do  of the engineering studies in the forces?

M2: Please elaborate it by sighting three differences between you and a non engineering background student

M3: What is the role of production engineer

M3: What is the role of Biotechnology in the field of war?(I participated in the bio tech seminar)

M3 : What is the contribution of Indian Mathematicians in World Mathematics?

(from my hobby number crunching and my engineering background )

M3: What is Green house effect? Some green house gases ?

M4 : You are going to be an Assistant Commandant, I want to know the essential characteristics of a police officer?

M4: So what is your view regarding the concept of Lobbying?

Q. How was interview: normal, stress, mixed? Did they ask any uncomfortable questions, if yes how did you answer it?

It was a normal interview. The board was friendly and the environment was supportive. No ,they do not asked any uncomfortable questions. They were mainly focusing upon the Detailed Application Form ,Background ,Analytical skills, and the way of interaction. Discipline must be maintained while speaking (never intend to speak any informal word).They judge the entire personality by the way of walking the way of sitting, hand movement and face gestures.

Q. How did you maintain the study-mood, motivation and tempo throughout this period? There are ups and downs- phases of mood swings, sometimes boredom and even depression. How did you fight that psychological battle? On an average, how many hours do you study?

YES.It is correct that there are crests as well as troughs in the preparation period.whenever I felt my self on the backfoot I used to call up my brother and have a long interaction session upon my preparation strategy .His recommendations were superb and at the end valued a lot. He is the best mentor I can have,and at that time our hobby help us ..i usually go for movie at the time of serious depression. normally 7-8 hrs per day study is more than enough. but discipline along with continutiy is what we need in the UPSC  Preparations.

Q. What was your service preference order (CRPF>CISF>SSB etc) and why did you pick up the particular order?

CISF>CRPF>SSB>BSF>ITBP

Career Backup

Q. If you were not selected, what was your career backup plan?

I am an engineer by profession and most probably I would have gone for M.S course some where in foreign to complete my academics.

Wisdom

Q. Through this journey and success, what wisdom did you gain about competition and life? What is your message to the aspirants?

Life is a journey and competition is what makes our life full of happenings. Competitions are meant for average candidates Always be a good learner,and be higly adaptable because the current form of competition is too much innovative and you need to cope up with it in order to succeed. AND my message for all the aspirants:” BE HAPPY ALWAYS”.
