2014 Cutoffs for Prelims, Mains & final

On 4th July 2015, UPSC declared the final result of civil services examination 2014. Since the “entire” exam process is now over, finally they have stopped RTI stonewalling and uploaded information about cutoffs and Answerkey on official website of UPSC.

Minimum Qualifying Marks in CSE-2014
Prelims
  • Paper 1 (General studies): 40
  • Paper 2 (Aptitude): 70
Mains
  • 10% marks for each paper of Essay, General studies and optional subject.
  • 30% in Indian language and 25% in English, as per official notification. (Although for Mains-2015, they’ve kept it 25% for both language papers).

2014 Official Answerkey to Debatable Questions

  • Those who’re new to this game- UPSC conducts prelims in August b ut doesn’t give official answerkey in RTI until the entire process is over i.e. mains and interview.
  • They’ve now uploaded the official answerkey to UPSC prelims 2014 Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • Some of its questions generated too much debate and comment wars. Here are few of them now with official Answerkey. I’m referring to UPSC 2014 Prelims GS Paper 1: Testbook #A, and its Answerkey now uploaded on UPSC website under examination=>answerkeys

    1. Cutoff in 2013 is 205.
      Last Year in 2013 , It was 241.

  4. Qualifying means just qualifying like the English and the Indian Language papers of Mains…
    33% of the marks of CSAT paper will b Qualifying(means 66 marks out of 200) and there is no dependency of qualifying marks on the no. of qualifying candidates at all…

  10. @priyanka, I think its more about liberal marking than anything else. Got 596(essay 85. Gs 66+76+64+86). Not qualified for interview. Pub ad me hi theek thak mila. Tumhe kitna mila

  13. @Priyanka, I prepared from mohit,Nicolas,ramesh k arora, arc but for this year i bought cpm ramesh k arora, pub ad theory primer of Fredericson, development ad of mohit, public policy sapru. How much u hv got this year breakup of gs essay. And are u from north.

  15. Neem question from Agriculture section, Sattriya question from culture and feature of constitutional government question from polity also needs updation.

    Official answer of Neem question is option-‘C’, 1and 3 only

    Answer of Sattriya question is option ‘B’ – 1and 2 only

    Answer of ‘constitutional government’ question is option ‘B’ – 2 only.

    1. Jatropha, not Neem make to BioFuels.
      Other BioFuel Plants : corn or sugar cane ethanol, or palm oil diesel (not a good option. as it increases it’s prices for other domestic uses)

  16. Sir,I got 55 Q’s in gs1 paper in which 11 are wrong but I got only 70 marks in GS 1 paper,as I calculated UPSC cut 18 marks as penalty…so plz tell me how many marks UPSC cut 4 one wrong and in gs1 paper…thank u

  25. Sir, I have OBC non creamy layer certificate issued by UP State Government. If this will be enough for applying for the exam ? or I need to wait for the central govt issued obc certificate for applying to CSAT 2016 ?
    I don’t have time to apply for the same? If the state govt issued certificate will be fine for it or not?
