Before that, let’s quickly go through the overview of SEBI Grade A exam. The prelims phase of exam is scheduled to take place on 12th April 2020. Any aspirant with a relevant experience in General Stream, Legal Stream, Information Technology Stream, Engineering Stream, Research Stream and Official Language Stream is eligible to apply for the position.

SEBI is one of the most demanding jobs in the country because of the pay scale and satisfaction it provides. After the successful conduction of the SEBI 2018 recruitment cycle, surely many candidates waited for it to happen again in 2019 but SEBI did not show up that year.

The candidates had to wait for more than a year before the notification was finally announced on 7th Mar 2020.

But the notification was a googly for the users. There was a big change in the exam conducting pattern and simultaneously with the syllabus. New pattern introduced in the prelims phase and the content for mains exam varied at the same time.

SEBI Grade A Officers’ Exam Pattern

SEBI Grade A officers Exam Rank1

Here’s what he experienced in his own words.

Strategy for phase 1:

Practice, practice, practice. I had attempted all the mock tests that I had subscribed to. I was slow in solving quants. So I placed my bets on GA and awareness on securities market. Scored 70/80 in those two sections. Reasoning and Quants – reverse engineering from mock tests. Didn’t prepare specifically for these sections.

Strategy for phase 2:

1- Securities Market and Laws

Securities Market – Economics notes from UPSC preparation and the notes from the courses I had subscribed to. I covered the important acts and regulations like SEBI Act, SCRA 1956, depositories act, ICDR and LODR from the original documents.

2- ESI and FM

To be honest, I couldn’t do justice to this paper in 3 weeks time. My UPSC preparation and preparation for RBI helped me. Just revised the important chapters in ESI and F&M. I didn’t skip problems in FM because I was competing with the best of the best in the unreserved category and I had to grab each and every mark on offer.

“In all these areas, Oliveboard’s Mock Test helped me get prepared for the actual exam in many ways.

For phase 1, I completely relied on Oliveboard Mock Tests. I got complete analytical review of my performance, which in turn guided me to take measures to improve my weaker areas.

Phase 2 was no different, the level of mock test was very similar to that of actual paper in fact it was a bit on higher side, so I can say I was well prepared before the actual exam.”
