Ok here goes the UnOfficial Answerkey for APFC 2012 with explanation and references for all series A, B,C and D.
- I’ve tried to solve the questions from standard reference sources (NCERT, India Yearbook, M.Laxmikanth, GS Manual etc) and resorted to Wikipedia/googling only as last resort.
- Where the source is not mentioned- assume that answer was too obvious or obtained through googling.
- Some answers are debatable; I’ve mentioned it at respective places and therefore I don’t make claim that mine is 100% authentic answerkey.
- For the aptitude questions, only answer and hints are given, full calculation and concepts will be explained in future youtube videos.

Environment and Biodiversity (EnB)
1. Biome, largest recognizable assemblage of animals and plants on the Earth. is controlled mainly by :
(a) Biological activity
(b) Landforms
(c) Climate
(d) Soil
A biome is a plant and animal community that covers a large geographical area. The boundaries of different biomes on land are determined mainly by climate.
So answer is c
Refer NCERT Class 11 Physical Geography, Chapter15.
2. ‘Kyoto Protocol’, an agreement signed by various countries, is associated with
(a) International trade
(b) Deep sea oil and mineral exploration
(c) Clean environment and climate change

4. Promotion of vegetarianism
(a) 1, 2 and 3 only
(b) 1, 2 and 4 only
(c) 3 and 4 only
(d) 1, 2, 3 and 4
See the Index of Biodiversity Action Draft Plan (PDF Uploaded here http://www.indiaenvironmentportal.org.in/files/National_Biodiversity_Action_Plan.pdf)
As you can see in its index, first three terms are threats to Biodiversity.
And 4th statement either too stupid or too controversial. So my take is Option (A)
4. Vultures, which were very common in our countryside a few years ago, are rarely seen nowadays. This is attributed to one of the Following :
(a) Destruction of their nesting sites by new invasive species
(b) A drug used by cattle owners for treating their diseased cattle
(c) Scarcity of food available to them
(d) A widespread, persistent and fatal disease amongst them
Lolz Answer (B) This is becoming very clichéd question. We discussed this already
Diclofenac is a painkiller medicine used mostly for arthritis in humans
Veternary Diclofenac is used on cattle, as painkiller, stopping inflammation and fever.
When Animals are treated with Diclofenac, this drug keeps accumulating in their body. When these animals die, Vultures eat them = kidney failure =death of vulture.
Hence Government of India banned Veternary Diclofenac. Now farmers have to use other expensive drugs instead of Diclofenac.

Christine Lagarde is the MD of IMF. So (C) should match with (3)
Catherine Day is current Secretary-General of the European Commission so (D) should match with (4)
But there is no such option.
May be the examiner setup this question while watching Tarak Mehta kaa Ooltaa Chashma.
I’ll have to ask UPSC in RTI what they’re going to do about this.

1. Despite having huge coal reserve in OUT country, why do we import millions of tons of coal?
- It is policy of Govt. of India to save its own coal reserve for future use and import now from other countries for present use.
- Most of the thermal plants in our country are coal based and they are unable to gel sufficient coal supply from our coal mines.
- Steel plants require large quantities of coking coal which we do not have, coking coal is to be imported from other countries.
(a) 1, 2 and 3
(b) 2 and 3 only
(c) 1 and 2 only
(d) 1 and 3 only
Answer (b)
Statement (1) doesn’t make sense.
Statement (2) is correct, because otherwise there was no need to create “Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA)” (i.e. Government asked Coal India to sign Fuel Sharing agreements with various clients to provide sufficient coal at required time)
Statement (3) is correct because The Hindu…”In a move to reduce dependence on highly priced Australian coking coal, India will acquire a mine in Mongolia and also set up the first steel plant in the quality coal rich country.
Chairman of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) told media that “Mongolia has very good quality of coking coal mines. We do not have such quality coal mines ourselves”

(b) An investor need not file an industrial entrepreneur Memorendum.
(c) There is no reservation of products for production in small scale sectors.
(d) The number of industries reserved for public sector has been enhanced.

Distillation and brewing of alcoholic drinks
Cigars and cigarettes made from tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes
Electronic aerospace and defense equipment: all types
Industrial explosives including detonating fuses, safety fuses, gun powder, nitrocellulose and matches
Hazardous chemicals such as hydrocyanic acid and its derivatives, phosgene and its derivatives, and isocyanates and diisocyanates of hydrocarbon, not specified elsewhere (example Methyl isocyanate)

4. Which one of the following expresses the relation between normal price and market price?
(a) Market price is greater than normal price
(b) Market price is equal to normal price
(c) Market price tends to be equal to normal price
(d) Market price is lesser than normal price
Answer (C)
Market Price = current price at which an asset or service can be bought or sold. Economic theory contends that the market price converges at a point where the forces of supply and demand meet.
normal price =represents stable equilibrium between long-run demand and supply established after the supply has fully adjusted itself to the changed demand.
Market price can be higher or lower than the normal price. In fact, it tends to oscillate around the normal price and tends to be equal to it.
Market price is a reality as the day-to-day transactions do take place at this price, whereas the normal price is a Utopian concept.
http://mywhatis.com/distinctions-between-market-price-and-normal-price/
Although NCERT Class 12 Microeconomics Chapter 4, too talks about Market Price but it goes in to too much technical details.
5. Bancassurance is
(a) An insurance scheme to insure bank deposits
(b) An insurance scheme exclusively for bank employees
(c) A composite financial service offering both bank and insurance products
(d) A bank deposit scheme exclusively for employees of insurance companies
Investopedia: A French term referring to the selling of insurance through a bank’s established distribution channels, known as a Bancassurer. The result is a bank that can offer banking, insurance, lending, and investment products to a customer.
Option (C) comes close to this meaning.
6. Inflation can be controlled by
(a) Increase in wages
(b) Decrease in taxation
(c) Reduction in public expenditure
(d) Making the rupee dearer
They should have said what type of inflation it is (Cost push or Demand pull).
Otherwise answer will be debatable.
Anyways my take: given the options, RBI can make rupee dearer (i.e. hard to get loans) by increasing Repo Rate and thus reduce liquidity (money available for loan) in the market. So Option (D)
Increase in wages = first it is hard to ‘achieve’, Government can increase the wages of its employees by increase the Dearness Allowence (DA), but what about the private sector employees and the unorganized sector workers.
Decrease In taxation= again hard to do because Government would need to get it approved in parliament.
Reduction in public expenditure = debatable.
Marking Rupee Dearer = RBI can do this quick and easy under its monetary policy powers. This is the first line of defence, and RBI has been doing it last year.
7. Which of the following can be termed an infrastructural bottleneck in the development of India’s economy ?
(a) The federal nature of Indian Polity.
(b) Existence of a large variety of financial institutions
(c) Delay in the administration of justice relating to land acquisition and displacement
(d) The volatility of the Indian rupee
Indian Economy’s biggest bottleneck is UPA Government, but since this question is asking about “Infrastructural Bottleneck”.
So first what is infrastructure? Roads, highways, seaports, airports, railways, telephone connectivity, powerplants.
Each has its own peculiar ‘bottlenecks’ for example: telephone=2G scam and licence removal. Powerplants= coal supply and so on. But Out of the given options:
According to this IGNOU pdf
http://www.egyankosh.ac.in/bitstream/123456789/34932/1/Unit3.pdf
Some other factors pose challenges for the sector (Highways)…. These involve land acquisition, encroachment on highways, environmental and forest clearances, shifting of utilities, railway approvals for rail over bridges, local law and order problems, poor performance by some contractors, etc.
I pick up (C)
8. It is said that. in order to control inflation, foreign inflow needs to be sterilized. Sterilization here refers to
(a) Ensuring that counterfeit currency does not enter circulation,
(b) Ensuring that black money is accounted for,
(c) Withdrawing equivalent local currency to maintain a desirable rate of exchange,
(d) Compliance with import-export regulations,
Sterilization is most often used in the context of a central bank that takes actions to negate potentially harmful impacts of capital inflows – such as currency appreciation and inflation – both of which can reduce export competitiveness.
To prevent this, the country’s central bank may decide to intervene in the foreign exchange market. To prop up the value of the nation’s currency, the central bank may resort to creating artificial demand for its currency. It can do this by using some of its foreign exchange reserves to buy local currency.
So, Answer is (C)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterilization_%28economics%29
9. NABARD means
(a) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development
(b) National Agricultural Bank and Rural Development
(c) National Agricultural Board and Rural Development
(d) National Board for Agricultural and Rural Area Development
NABARD = National Bank for Agri and Rural Development. For more details
https://mrunal.org/2012/04/economy-regional-rural-banks-vs.html
10. Which of the following are the main causes of the slow rate of growth of per capita income in India?
1. High rate of capital formation
2. High level of fiscal deficits
3. High rate of growth of population
(a) 1, 2 and 3
(b) 1 and 2 only
(c) 1 and 3 only
(d) 2 and 3 only
The answer is only one: UPA Government, but it is not given in the options.
Generally, the higher the capital formation of an economy, the faster an economy can grow its aggregate income. Increasing an economy’s capital stock also increases its capacity for production, which means an economy can produce more. Producing more goods and services can lead to an increase in national income levels.
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/capital-formation.asp
So High Rate of Capital formation is not cause of poor per capita income. Hence remove options containing statement (1).
A,B,C are eliminated.
we are left with answer (D)
11. If the RBI adopts an expansionist open market operations policy, this means it will
(a) Sell securities in the open market.
(b) Buy securities from non-government holders.
(c) Openly announce to the market that it intends to expand credit.
(d) Offer commercial banks more credit in the open marker
Expansionary monetary policy is monetary policy that seeks to increase the size of the money supply.
Open Market operation = The buying and selling of government securities in the open market in order to expand or contract the amount of money in the banking system. Purchases inject money into the banking system and stimulate growth while sales of securities do the opposite.
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/openmarketoperations.asp
So, if RBI wants to increase money supply, it should buy (purchase) bonds from non-Government holders (that way RBI will give them money for purchase, hence money supply is increased).
Answer (B)
12. Structural Planning refers to .
(a) Centralized planning,
(b) Laying down broad goals and strategics.
(c) Changing existing institutions or creating new ones.
(d) Fixing flexible targets.
The planning which is aimed at bringing changes in socioeconomic set-up of a country is termed as structural planning. This type of planning is attributed to the planning which was made in USSR in 1929 when the existing land-lord-system was abolished, collective farming was introduced, trade, industries and transport system was nationalized.
Answer (C) According to www.scribd.com/doc/9893431/Types-of-Economic-Planning
13. Which of the following is NOT one of the features of the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) being set up for promoting exports ?
(a) Foreign workers will be allowed free entry without Visa restrictions.
(b) The SEZ area will be treated as foreign territory for trade operations, duties and tariff.
(c) Them will be no routine examination by customs authorities of import-export cargo.
(d) No license is required for import into the zone.
The salient features of SEZ acts are given in the India Yearbook, Commerce Chapter.
So, Accordingly, Statement B,C and D are correct. So A has to be the false statement.
Answer (A)

Passage: old vs young
(Mrunal: I’ve given line numbers for easy reference in answers)
| Sentence | Comment |
|
|
|
Young don’t like old and old suspect young. |
|
Young don’t like to listen to old. |
|
Old can’t do “action” so they talk. |
|
Old says “hamaare zamane mein” things were better and now they’re going downfall. |
|
But in every generation old men repeat the same tape. |
|
|
|
1. What, according to you, is the theme and the idea of the passage ?
(a) Generation gap
(b) Problems of the youth
(c) Optimism of the older generation
(d) None of the above
Sentence 4 mentions the phrase “Problems of Youth”. But the whole passage is not revoling on that idea. consider
Sentence 1= we spend the first half of our lives trying to understand the older generation, and the second half trying to understand the younger
Sentence 3+4= majority of you (young) people are keen to act.……older people, being more at home with words rather than with action
Sentence 8= Every generation passes from …..youth to …old age, and then yields place to the next.
So majority of Sentences are revolving around the idea of Generation Gap.
Correct Option (A)
2. The older generation is suspicious about the younger generation as the youngsters lack
(a) knowledge
(b) experience
(c) patience
(d) time
Look @Sentence #3… With their natural ebullience (enthusiasm) and impatience, a majority of you (you) people are keen to act and learn on their own rather
So young people have impatience= they lack patience.
Answer (C)
3. The author seems to be supportive of the idea that
(a) the people of the older generation are men of words rather than action.
(b) the younger generation is impatient
(c) the younger generation today is much misunderstood and more maligned than it deserves
(d) none of the above
Debatable between (B) and (C).
I leave Opt A because
The phrase “Men of words rather than action” has an insulting tone, while the Author is merely saying that “…..older people, being more at home with words rather than with action (say certain things about youth”. (Sentence 4). His aim is not to insult the old. So Author woudn’t agree to the idea of statement A.
I leave Opt B because
Younger generation is impatient (Sentence 3). But They’re asking “author seems to be supportive of the idea” so that is not an idea, merely a restatement of what author said in sentence 3.
I pick Opt C because
Look at Sentence 4+6:
…(Old men) often make noises about the problems of youth….(but)…in all ages, whenever they have pondered over the ways of youth, they have foreseen nothing but ruination (downfall) staring the world in its face.
Following the hidden message in those lines, Author would support the idea that “the younger generation today is much misunderstood and more maligned than it deserves.”
4. “And yet the world goes on”—what is the tone of the author in this statement?
(a) Optimistic
(b) Pessimistic
(c) Cynical
(d) Critical
Debatable.
I leave D because
- Critical means finding only errors and flaws- “Saala Buddha log bahut lecture detaa hai, they should change their habit”. That’s not the tone of Author. He has tried to be balanced : look @ Sentence 1,2 and 3.
I leave C because
- Cynical is when we believe things won’t change and we make mockery/fun of it (like I do with Mohan whaat an idea sir-ji). But That’s not the tone of Author. He is not making fun of anyone or ridiculing anyone, in any of the sentences.
I leave A because
- Optimistic means Expecting or presenting the best possible outcome- it “Buddha log bahut lecture detaa hai, but I hope in future the Buddha log will work with youth and or Youth will stop wasting time on facebook and or Buddha log will stop whining about youth”. But That’s not what author says, implies or seeks anywhere in the passage.
- Besides “Yet world goes on (fir bhi dunia chalti hai)” itself is a non-optimistic phrase.
I pick B because
- Pessimistic is close to cynical but there is difference. Cynic feels that things won’t change and makes fun of it. Pessimist feels that things won’t change, but that’s all- he doesn’t make fun of it.
- Look @sentence 6 ….. in all ages, whenever they (old men) have pondered over the ways of youth, they have foreseen ruination (downfall).
- Look @Sentence 8= Every generation passes from the youth to old age, and then yields place to the next (generation)
- So this is pessimistic. In every generation there will be Buddha log bashing the young, but then young people grow old, they also bash the new young people from next generation, and thus the world goes on.
Passage: Bribery.
I think Kapil “Zero Sum” Sibbal asked UPSC to include this passage.

Re-read the statement 5 “..bribe-giver is generally moneyed and influential” so he is the “affluent” guy = he is the bad guy. |
Questions

(c) Partially true
(d) None of the above
Please note- in reading passage, you’re not supposed to answer what you feel about bribery but what author has written in the passage.

Hence it is “TRUE”.

- Emboldened with this success, Gandhiji in 1919 decided to launch a nationwide satyagraha against the proposed Rowlatt Act (1919)
So Sequence is Champa>Kheda>A’bad>Rowlatt
3,2,4,1 = Answer (C). Some friends are saying Champa>A’bad>Kheda>Rowlett, citing other reliable sources. But I’ve picked up C, because it is given in the NCERT Class 10 Textbook.

- High specific resistance and low melting point
- Low specific resistance and high melting point.
- Low specific resistance and low melting point,
- High specific resistance and high melting point
A fuse wire should have low melting point, otherwise it’ll never melt even if there is overload! [For making bulb, it’d be reverse- need high melting point]
So eliminate (B) and (D)
The main object of using fuse wire in electric circuit is to provide protection against short circuit or overload current. This means it protects the circuit from huge amount of current flow as it cause the damage to the circuit.
The fuse wire select such a way that it burns and break the circuit when large current passes. For this purpose the material used as fuse wire should have high resistance and low melting point.Due to high resistance the wire heats up quickly, when huge current flows. The temperature around the fuse wire rapidly rises, when it reaches the melting point of the material it burns and protects the circuits.
High resistance and low melting point are responsible to the quick response of the fuse wire towards the current.
The common material used as fuse wire is an alloy of tin and lead.

(d) Joint fanning must be practiced with respect to all lands of the society.
Directly lifted from Pearson CSAT Manual 2012, Page E254 Question number 179
Answer is B (or Doubtful, because I’m unable to find its recommendations on internet despite repeated google search using various keywords!)
7. Three States which have Human Development Index (HDI) higher than China are :
(a) Kerala. Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh
(b) Kerala. Punjab and Maharashtra
(c) Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab
(d) Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat
If we apply the ‘common-sense’ that China’s HDI is higher than India and Madhya Pradesh is the baddest state of India, in terms of HDI
then every option containing Madhya Prades’s HDI is usually very low. So A,C and D are gone and we are left with only Answer (B)
But here is the twist in this story-
Economic Survey 2012, Chapter 13- Human Development, Page 303
the HDI of China for 2011 = 0.687
And HDI for various states of India for 2011, are given on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_states_and_territories_by_Human_Development_Index
So accordingly, Maharashtra and Gujarat have HDI are in the range of 0.5 something.
So eliminate all options having Maharashtra OR Gujarat.
And we’re left with no option!
(If we go by that wikipage, then It is Kerala, Himachal Pradesh and Goa= have higher than China HDI but no such option is given.)
8. How does National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) seek to improve livelihood options of rural poor ?
1. By setting up a large number of new manufacturing industries and agribusiness centers in rural areas.
2. By strengthening Self Help Group’s (SHG) and providing skill development.
3. By supplying seeds, fertilizers, diesel pump-sets and micro irrigation equipment free of cost to farmers.
(a) 1,2 and 3
(b) 2 only
(c) 3 only
(d) 1 only
Refer to Economic Survey 2012, Chapter 13: Human Development.
https://mrunal.org/2012/03/economy-economic-survey-2012.html
The Salient features of NRLM are given on On page 314 and 315.
Accordingly, Only statement 2 is correct.
Lessons for future
- If you felt uncomfortable with the aptitude and English (comprehension and vocabulary) questions that means you definitely need to work harder on those topics, for next exams. (IBPS, SSC, CPF, CSAT whatever is the your case)
- Some people believed that Geography was not to be prepared because UPSC APFC syllabus did not mention Geography. Well, 2 questions from geography and directly from NCERT Geography textbooks. So, whenever there is General knowledge / General studies= Geography must be prepared whether it is mentioned explicitly in the syllabus or not.
- Stick to standard reference books and revise them often.
- Negative marking can be both a dream-killer and a kingmaker, whether you’re sitting in UPSC, IBPS or CAT. Never force yourself into ticking answers just to cross an imaginary cutoff.
Cut offs for APFC 2012
There are two types of people in competition business.
- The serious players.
- The Lord Curzons – those who fill up the form just because their papa said (JBPS). After the exam, Lord Curzons throw away their question papers and misplace their halltickets.
If you landed on this page- it means you were interested in seeing the answerkeys and checking your scores= That means you’re a serious player, and hence one day you’ll face the interview board- if not of APFC then of RBI, UPSC, IIM, SSC, State PSC, Bank -whatever is written in your destiny.
So, you should prepare for the interview, irrespective of how your paper went. Because some interview questions are one and same irrespective of job-
- Questions on your graduation field and hobbies [maintain a diary on this]
- Socio-political-economic-cultural-geographical profile of your city, district and State. [dig google and maintain a file on this- otherwise it’ll be very cumbersome to prepare it within 10-12 days before the interview]
- The current affairs and your opinion on them. (FDI, Diesel price etc.) [this is a continuous process]
All the best.

if there has to be cut off marks thn it has to be btwn 45 to 55 and the person sayng for the champaran movment was in 1917 and kheda in 1918 and ahemadabad in later 1918 we all must ask from the upsc the current anwer key thn we cn say anythng about the answers so many wrong question if anybody has attempted thn he will penalized for wrong answer or vice versa or if any body has nt attempted the question thn also he will be given the marks for that what the upsc has decided for that we must ask from the upsc by the RTI AND TO abhishek baranwal that the questions which i had pointed out they are wrong prove them they are right we are nt saying we will nt accept the fact the our answer are wrong but let the upsc first say that there questions are wrong making merit process will be worng on the basis of wrong questions there will be RTI used for all the merit holders copy
why r u angry mishra sirji.I meant to talk of those who wdnt accept a correct answer at any cost. For eg the question in controlling inflation, any economics student wd tell u it is reducing public expenditure as a POLICYbut people dont accept.I am talking of them.As for wat u have pointed out,u r totally correct.:):):)
Hi,
I want some info regarding this job. Plz ans if u have any idea.
1) What is the job profile of APFC?
2) Does APFC get the free CAR, HOUSE etc. facility?
3) Does this post have some power (Like other UPSC post) or just a office clerk type post?
4)After training will u be incharge of any office or will be subordinate to other officers?
5)Will u take the decision? (i work in PSU. and Officers here after 20+ years of jobs, 200000+ salaries, and huge degination CM,DM,DGM,GM.dont have any officer work.)
Here is what you need:
1. He looks after the implementation of PF laws in EPFO. He is an official.
2. Every central govt. servant gets housing facility. APFC too; he will also get a vehicle.
3. Clerical type at times. But he heads most workforce in EPFO. Power within EPFO.
4. You will head an office where you get posted.
5. Decisions made by Labour Ministry. EPFO just recommends/implements.
Hi mrunal sir, this is rama from tamilnadu. FIRST thanks for ur efforts regarding apfc answer key, and SECOND this is my individual request plz give some rough idea about cut off. I will wait… Again thank in advance.
THNNS FOR PROVIDING SUCH A GREAT PLATFORM
mr. misra and mr. mrunal no doubt ur answers are right but in question regarding rain fed crop although potato is an irrigated crop but in some regions like uttrakhand it is a rain fed,so the question is debatable. Similarly,in geothermal reservoir, average temperature should be 180 c or more, but for low temp reservoirs n others special reservoir conditions vary,so again the ques is debatable. in modern industries, coalmines were also amongst them, but silk was produced before. In case of market and normal price, they both are equal, rather then tends to be. And in ottoman empires gun powder was used but efficient bureaucracies were missing… so answers are highly confusing and cut off prediction by people is only on superficial basis.
dear all friends, i regularly read all your blog, first of all i say best of luck all of you not only for apfc but for future exam. i am an employee of epfo and i left my study nine year before. after reading the blog i feel that i am not in race but i want to put some answer which i feel that that is consider in hury.
1)The endevour of janani surakha yojna as per my view the answer would be D because the amount paid to women provide for wages loss due to preganancy and confinement. kindly check it through web.
2)about compensasation act 1923 the answer is C because the origin of act never change only some clause were change through amendement and in fact it is only some amedement through 2009 act.
3) about gandhi movement i see so many discuss have already made but why not the student go through the net .as per my view the answer would be C because the kheda was sarted due drought in1917 by the peasant and gandhi join it in feb-march 1918. ahemdabad mill strike started in also feb-march1918 but at that time gandhi ji not involve in strike after some month past they join it.
4)by early nineteenth century —british — as per my view the answe would be A because the all survey made by british goverment for developing of railways and transport. further if you see the time and the so many factor given in the question as like topography.the soil. flora, fauna. logical history etc are definitly not doneby british in that period yes they make survey but after 1850 not early.
5) which term is used for budhism– as per my view the answer would be C because the meaning of EThnocentrism means the supermacy of of etheics and if the etheics of budh is not superme in comparasion to other ethics it may not spread. but i may be wrong
6)A judgement made—– i dont understood every person why say that it is premature why not deliberate. it is all well known that premature is always combine with some act as judgement, delivery but deliberate means considering all the facts.
7)the directive principal—- the answer is A as per my view supported by every civics book here the word aim is used for social and economics base and for this aim govenment has to keep in mind while framing policy.
8)Biom , largest recogizable — of animal and plant—- the anser is A because the whole thing is overall called ecosystem . definitly Biom is controlled by climate but in respect of all word it creat a ecosystemand for ecosystem controlled by two thing that jaivik and ajaivik (HINDI) ghatak and if we see the answer three are ajaivik but one is jaivik that is biological activity and that controlled all the system just as food chain .
9)RBI adopt expansionist—-in the all answer may be true but as per my view the answer is D if we consider the fact provided by mr, mrunal it is clear that in expansionist RBI adopt buy and sell government securities then how anser is B because it is buy from non-goverment. futher the major roll of RBI for expansionist open market to controlled the rate of commercial bank.
10)National cooperative farming —— as per my view the answer is D because as per my knowlede the the farming board provide loan for purchase of land but not known that whether for new or any. but if you see the option D it is included by the word mustbe and it is definitly not suitable for india society.
Dear friend i have a little knowledge and and due to lack of study and time and i cannot supported my answer with any reliable source . but i gave some point if before prove me wrong kindly consider all the fact purhaps i may totally wrong. thanking you
Sanjayji please read the question of english vocabulary carefully. the answer is premature.

Hello guys,
Here Is the question in the paper (SET – A) que 39
Which one of the following is not set up by the Constitution of India?

C) Planning Commission
D) Union Judiciary
Please let me know what is the correct answer.
Regards
planning commission(C)
kudos to all my fellow aspirants for bringing out such an informative and rigorous discussion and special thank to Mrunal Sir for giving us honest answer key for this exam. Now i havent bothered to check any other answer key except this, the sole reason is that they generate more questions rather than giving us satisfactory answer.Luckily except some few questions Mrunal sir’s key seems to be somewhat more reliable. So i totally bank on his key and my net score comes out to be 54 which i believe is very low knowing that many aspirants here scored more than 65.Now as my ID suggests there is really a serious concern as far as my career is concerned. This year i have exhausted all my UPSC attempts and so i m at the crossroad realising that this is the only year where my dream of getting central govt job may fulfill.I m an OBC candidate,so do u think it would be fair enough to hope for interview with such low score? I fully understand the evasive nature of Mrunal sir on the issue of cut off and rightly so but here all my fellow aspirants please give me a genuine and honest idea about my chances with this score as i really want to get down to prepare for interview if i have a slightest chance of success in written.Otherwise i cant afford to waste any single day from here onwards and simply work on my plan B means what next if not UPSC.hopefully whoever respond to my comment would give be a sincere and honest reply.
APFC is not comparable to IAS/IPS,IFS etc. It is equivalent to RBI officer grade . Even posts like SDM/DSP are far better(3 times or 4 times ) than this post .
hello, S. Mishraji i believe u havent answered my question. Nowhere did i ask abt the importance of this post.I think by mistake u have given a reply of someone else queries.Anyway please kindly give a reply to my concern. U will be appreciated for yur honest reply.
The reply was to your concern Sir, but it was indirect . You did not get me . OK … do not totally bank on Mrunal’s key . On this very page somewhere I have corrected 5 answers of Mrunal . Check that if your score cross 60/100 then there is some possibility .
Mishraji APFC POST IS A GROUP A CENTRAL SERVICES POST AND ITS EQUIVALENT TO IRS OFFICERS POST. IRS IS ALSO A GROUP A CENTRAL SERVICES POST. THE DIFFERENCE IS STAKEHOLDERS ARE DIFFERENT.
dost upsc me kutch bhi ho sakta hai.lekin ye bhi sahi hai 50% result unexpected hi hota hai.
Hi Sir, I think you have a fair chance because your score will vary with different keys. You should prepare for interview otherwise Plan B to hai hi…and sometimes Plan Bs are better than Plan As.
I am also a UPSC aspirant…I have given my 2nd attempt(given mains this time). I am concerned about what mistakes not to do so that I get through before exhausting my attempts. Your each word will be appreciated.
thanks another life for responding to my concern. Hopefully your thought is matched with that of UPSC when they declare the result. As far as your concern is concerned i do not think i am qualified enough to give any suggestion related to this exam. Moreover i would not dare to predict a tailor made solutions for mistake associated with this ever increasing unpredictable exam.Having said that i understand your feeling, so i would lend some few words.Keep your preparation as simple as possible. When i say simple what i meant is that avoid study five materials for one topic.Have one core study material and if necessity arises get supplemented from other sources but without compromising your core.Secondly give much emphasis to your optional subjects.i know it is debatable because many students get through with good marks in GS.The point i want to make is that GS is not clearly defined and getting unpredictable day by day, so all out effort may not translate into good marks. On the other hand optionals are more or less well defined so your efforts are more likely to give better results and even in case of caught off guard during optional exam your thorough knowledge of subjects help in tackling the situations, sometimes GS too.Lastly do integrated study means if certain topics in your optional are also part of GS then study holistically covering both.It certainly saves lots of time.I dont know i am right or wrong but this is what i felt during my course of preparation. All the best!!!!
@s mishra
Wats ur total score???
Will you be happy if I write incorrect answers here ? Then what is the benefit of our being here ? This forum is not Orkoot or Facebook …we are here to learn something from one another .I may not succeed in this exam but learning will improve my chances of success in future exams . No need to mock me , I am not even in the race Sir … my score( that I have already written on this very page ) is far lower than what you are saying on behalf of me . And , you should not have used my name brother…this sort of behaviour does not suit you . But one thing I have just learnt …Technology is what you make it . Don’t you agree ?
abhishek baranwalji i am nt angry but got annoyed from the persons nt knowing anything about economics and other thing history gvng wrong answer and in my case u are right about inflation point and becoz i am syng this hvng the degree m.com, mba finance, m.a. economics , by after all this i cn answer this questn and say u are right. and what about the cut off ur view point
National Cooperative Farming Advisory Board recomendation question is from Pearson’s GS book. Answer is (C).
Sorry, it is (B)
mishra sir as earlier it is very difficult to talk of cutoffs in upsc exams.I have met people who usually give a score lower than most predict except may be this years pre,so cant tell anything with surity.Even people with very high marks according to them at least bite the dust. For people who have not gone through the process dont accept what i am stating.Even in mains brilliant students who can anyday write an upsc answer fail to go through.Besides,if the process that UPSC adopts wd be as simple as the cutoff system,it wdnt hesitate to declare it before the court. So spend ur time napping the day out and sleeping in the night if u dont have an exam nearing like me in case u r a upsc veteran or keep thinking of cutoffs like the most beautiful girlfriend u have ever had.But tis cut off doesnt leave easily,so my guess is 68.:):):)
@very concern sir dont be so concerned.u have a friend in me.i have also exhausted all my attempts this year but i am a general dabba candidate.so being obc u must have more avenues left.dont worry bro be happy,u will have ur share of the infinite abundance of the universal mind.In short u will find a job soon…..:)
Thanks abhishek, encouraging words like these really help to move on in life even after setback.lets hope your words would turn out to be true someday.keeping my finger crossed!!!!!!

Hi friends’, I appreciate ur answers and discussion but it is the overall matter of UPSC .Because what they mark wrong and correct answer. when UPSC says that question no . answer is this so all the aspirants agree with UPSC answer because UPSC has alone argument about answer that is far away from the mind of aspirants. One thing i also says those aspirants says they compete 70 to 80 answer I astonished about because I hope those aspirants make a huze mistake when they thought the paper will be in easy and simple
sir i am getting 62 according to your answer key.i must say the answer key was the best amongst the rest which were substandard quality.(eg.according to one prominent coaching centre for banking exams, the meaning of circuitous is cyclic!!!the logic must have been:-circuit=cycle,so cicuitous=cyclic!!!)
thank you for your pain staking work to get us the most authentic answers with explanations.
indirect hi hai ..kio itna dimag laga rahe ho..check oxford or koi bhi dictoari chek kar lo
yes it is indirect!i was lamenting the poor standard of the answer keys in the market.dictionary kholna bi enki bus ki bat nahi!!!
aur aapke kitne aa rahe hia
62 after negative.
to sir abhi bhi bhi to kuch answer doubt me honge aapke…batana jraoor kaun kaun se
kaha hai sab log …interview ki preparationn kar rahe h kia?????
any body can tell me about the expected date of declaration of result of APFC by UPSC. And if qualified when will be the interviews conducted? please give ur opinion….
ummeed to hai ki jaldi hi aae result …lets c…
magar sir sab log kah rahe hai ki isme 40+ inhand sal milti hai …is it true…??
@ Kiran, Why are you so much panic, Lets Hope and wait upto the Result. By the way APFC will get Pay around 45-46 Thousends Rs PM. on the scale of 15600 Grade Pay 5400. Are u working some where? as per u, what will be the Cut off for gen & obc
no sir still fighting for job…i really dont know when i get a gud descent job..
cutoff no idea its all upto UPSC …but for my opinion..for gen 60-65 and obc 55-60 and SC/ST 50-55
letc ..finger crossed ..bahut man hai upsc me interbiew dekhe select hone ka…
As per a reliable source result would be declared in 3rd week of november..
from where sirji…
ccutoff ka idea hia kuch phir…?????
I think cut off may be around 66-70 (Gen), 64-66 (obc), 60-62 (SC) and 58-60 (ST) category.
oforsssss…………not sirji itna nhi hoga ..dekh lena aap
think you are right
Who is right, me or kiran ?
suman you seem to be correct…
Hii Chandan..plz give me the details of that coaching institute…i am seriously looking forward for quality coaching
Vajiram jao 100 students to tumko vahin mil jayenge 80 se upar score wale .
absolute rubbish……
mai waha parhta hu .
I wrote that in some different context. By the way no coaching institute can prepare you for such exams where gs is prominent. There is only one way out that is self study and self improvement.
Surprising ki kuch log Itne confident ho gaye hain sirf written ke bad ki Pay etc discuss karne lage hain.Remember interview weightage bbi kam nahin hai…in short picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.UPSC wont give cake walk even in written so lets be realistic in judging our net score.I feel with real evaluation gen 65-70 have fair chance of getting interview call.Even there the compitition is stiff. Now since two weeks have passed people have stopped checking answers and ther efore may not still be sticking to their initial score of net 75,80 and even more.
haan sir aap sahi hai kah rahe hai ..i totalli agrre mai to keval puch rahi hai thhi..
btw sir wo HDI higher thn china wale ka answer bata dijie plzzzz
aur kisi ko aata ho iska answer to wo bhi bata sakta hai ..
thnx in advace..
See ,the question is wrong . I don’t know what is wrong with the UPSC . Thus, the Commission has two options, either they will cancel the question or they will select option (B)Kerala ,Punjab and Maharashtra as the answer ( as sometimes you need to choose the best answer if the right answer is not possible ).To me the second option is more probable to be chosen . Why ?- though I don’t know the UPSC’s policy but I have in my hand right now the notification for CGPSC-2011 and I’m quoting a line from it ” …The candidate is required to record in the answer book , only A,B,C,or D as may be adjudged by him to be correct/nearly correct answer .”
sir gujrat kerala aur MP ..wala nahi ho sakta hai kia..
I don’t think so . Note the HDI of States in different options :
Kerala-0.790 ; Punjab-0.605 ; Maharashtra-0.572 ; Gujarat-0.527 ;Madhya Pradesh-0.375 .

thnxu sirji…aap sahi kah rahe hai aapka answer sahi hai …
sir one question bura mat maniega…sir SC ka cutoff phir bhi kitna ja sakta hai …mere sir 56 ke aaspass aa rahe hia kia mera koi chance hai interview call aane ka..
thanx in advance sirji….!!!
Do baate hain pahla usi din ACIO ka bhi exam tha jisme OBC/SC/ST ke liye jyada seats thi . Adhikansh logo ne wahan jana prefer kiya , dusri baat UPSC mains hone wala tha jinko confidence tha achhe performance ka UPSC me wo gaye nahi . Mujhe lagta hai General aur Categories ke bich achha-khasa difference rahega .SC ka cut-off 51-52 ho sakta hai , 55 se jyada kabhi nahi .
thank u so much sirjiii
means sirji meri interview call aa sakti hai…????
yes ! Go and prepare for it .
sir YE mrunal ji ne jo answer post kiYE hia kYa wo sab sahi hai…???
sir aapke pass iska kuch interview material hai kYa???
I’m afraid I don’t have any . But what to prepare and what not to prepare for any interview is well known to everyone .
Assistant Provident fund commissioner post is GROUP A CENTRAL SERVICE EQUIVALENT TO IRS officer.
