- Those who could not make it in the list: there is more to life than just one exam so, don’t be a Devdas, prepare for the next competition exam and or whatever other career backup plans that you have.
- 18th June 2013: from this day, successful candidates can download their Call Letter and Bio-data Format.
- 3rd July 2013: from this day, The Phase II (Group discussion and personal interview) will start.
Importance of GDPI?
As per notification,
- your written marks (out of 250) are converted to out of 75
- and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks maximum) are converted to out of 25.
- The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category.
- =As we can see, Written weightage =3/4th and GDPI weightage is just 1/4th.
But ^that should not lead to any laziness on GDPI preparation because notification further says:
- The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank.
- The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately.

Petty SBI job!! Whoa!!
Why do you say so?
m expressing my shock and surprise at a comment from an IIT guy who referred to SBI PO as “petty”!
Hav seen so many IIT guys from top ones like kanpur etc… doing jobs that are offered to any private engineering college guys with the same salary.Thats not petty but SBI PO is?!!
Oh well :) You know, I kind of feel the same way abt bank jobs…and SBI is a very stressful place to work…These jobs are 9-10 hour grinds that suck the life out of you (Saturday half-grinds as bonus). And I know that IT jobs and the like are stressful too so I get what you’re saying coz PSU banks do pay you well+ pension benefits etc. I actually feel like super annoyed that I had to do well in this one.

@shalini I attempted all the question(read 45+) of GK and English sections but while attempting 35th question of DA I realized that I was only left with 30 more minutes, so i moved to logical and attempted around 23 questions… I did not solve all the questions in logical sections attempted only those which required less time i.e. Picture, Series , coding etc….

@shalini – I am an MCA so computer questions were never a problem, moreover I have been preparing for UPSC and SSC and that has helped me great deal with GK, specially the Economics part(read all Mrunal writeups on economics to build a base). I am expecting to get at least 35 marks in both GK and English and 30 in DA..though not sure about score in Reasoning but since I have cleared it cannot be lower than 13(Earlier cutoff).

Bank PO doesn’t have specific timings now a days I am working in state bank of mysore as a probationary officer and working hours are also more and it is difficult to prepare for UPSC exams simultaneously But there is no other option still I am doing In my batch lot of members are preparing for civils cleared mains also and some are preparing for next attempts
Is it advisable to say that you are preparing for civil services in the interview?

Can’t really say about the cut-off, but one after giving my exam..I had a gutt feeling that the cutoff should be above expectations.
I cleared the phase-1, and was confident about making through, as I was expecting around 150+
Guys, just one tip I would like to give u all, Though I have no authority, nor am I that much wise or intelligent..Never ever prepare for ur exam..keeping the previous year cutoff in mind..That may distract u at times…Instead, focus on ur hard and smart work..and widen ur resource base..It’s not that since SBI form is released, so I will study for SBI now…Keep enriching urself and keep practising..That would One day make u believe in urself..rather than believe in luck

About the IIT brahminism – An HR from Infosys told me that in coming years, the castes would be IITians,NITians,Graduates,Dropouts ….. and I do not need to tell you which would substitute which one. You all are bright enough….
Just now when a person claiming to be an IITian told everyone that the Job of an SBI PO is too low a Job for an IITian… It took me back to that statement made by that HR. Irony being he did that on page dedicated to SBI PO result(What was he doing here??)…2008 recession made us all realize again of the fact that Security is the foremost thing a man has always desired since the early ages. IIMites and IITians were lining up to get a job in PSUs then and I don’t think the world economy is yet recovered completely.
The blame for this reverence should go to the Lower castes(read Colleges) also as they see these people as some one with god send intelligence.
To get into the IITs you have to have a right background, a good guidance and how can you forget KOTA all at early age….Not all have that, Others while may be a little late but surely they can blossom.
To summarize I would say the best thing about Government jobs are that they let you take a fresh start, No matter if you have scored 60 or 90 percent, you ultimately have to clear the same exam… The ultimate Right to equality.

Nice explanation.My college is a govt college.And many IITians dump it.But when coming to psu jobs, it has the highest take.IITians are so just because they got some good opportunity.Come to a level playing field, compete and prove.We will find that, not many can dare to do that 10th standard sum, being too obsessed by complacency of their leisurely glamorous fake life. This is not the case with all though.My comments are only for those who somehow (with some great aid) managed to enter the IITs.For , they can only think getting into a college as achievement- a limit to their abilites. Genuine studious students wont say such things.From my college students are now IIM directors and some jobless, some started business, some married and taking pride on their hubby’s salary and some still taking UPSC exams as status symbol. So at the end of the day, it is the student and her consistent effort that make her succeed ,not the name of her college. :-)

i have cleared the written in sbi this time.
sbi offers a very good package which even top IT companies are unable to pay.
to summarize a 3.4 lac package job in an IT company is equivalent to a LDC job OF SSC …
FUCK CORPORATE SECTOR WHICH HAS NO RULES..
Dude, IITs bans any firm from offering a package below 5 Lac. Check your figures. Its there in the policy, at least was in mine.
7+ Indian received NOBLE PRIZE in different fields but NONE OF THEM ARE IITians or IIMans if they really want to show their talent let them bring a LAUREL TO THE NATION by receiving a NOBEL PRIZE.

Check the last time any Indian won a Nobel prize barring Amartya Sen, There were not IITs in existence in the contemporary times thus no one from IITs.
Also honestly speaking IITs ruin most of the talented! It doesn’t matter if you are from IIT or some most backward college in Andaman, All that matters is the zeal to learn something and excel at it. Feed the fire and you might end up somewhere with the smoke, or be the fodder and end up in ashes.

IIT’s produce ENGINEERS AND MATHEMATICIANS. economy itself is created/sustained by engineers. a lot of IITians go abroad and play a major part in shaping their economies. where as our country pays a lot to bank employees and other jobs which do not require high analytical and reasoning skills( but will be a part of the exam) but very less to engineers/mathematicians who create the economy itself. hence the brain drain.

Friends SBi job is very nyc career opportunity. Those who qualified for GDpI try to capitalise the opportunity. As ratio of selection will be higher. 1 of 2 or 2.3

@Tanveer- May I ask you where dis u practice DI,Reasoning etc… from?
@shalini Well I don’t..the key is not to get stressed up,Trust me all the questions in Reasoning are very easy(My bro in 10th standard solves most) It is the ticking time clock and exam’s atmosphere which makes it difficult,if you could see the pattern and for that you need a relaxed state of mind it is a cakewalk. Reasoning is different from maths in a way that you do not need to mug up formulas, Just read the question twice and have faith in you. Having a belief that you are good does wonders to ones performance.
I am getting around 46/50 in SSC CGL Reasoning section acc to all answer keys.
I am getting 172/200 in CSE paper-2 according to the career launcher key..it could be few numbers less… but trust me I did not give it a single day.I focused only on paper-1 and had the belief that I will do well in paper-2.. I slept in a garden in between the time of ending of paper 1 and beginning of paper 2 as it made me relax…..
