UPSC finally declared the cutoff marks for IFoS candidates from CSAT-2013 round.
We can see that for IFoS cutoffs were quite higher than IAS.

bhai try solving sarvesh verma level 1 exercise atleast 2 times before exam and comprehension from old papers and reasoning from rs agarwall few chapters like syllogism,figures and inserting..u will definately get more than 160..all the best..
Dude high cut off is due to less vacancies in IFoS as compared to CSE…

I have completed B.Sc Biotechnology. I am eligible for IFoS exam. I have cell biology, Physiology, Animal Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Genetics and Biostatistics as one of subjects in B.Sc Biotechnology. Please reply as soon as possible. I am waiting for applying IFoS exam 2014. Advance thanks
I think you are ‘not’ eligible….only “basic science” graduate degrees are mentioned there. But better to contact UPSC and IFoS…..there are more disadvantages than advantages of not doing BSc in basic science

Lol.. low cutoff is because of low no of seats as compared to cse– cse had 1200 so around 14400 students were to be selected but ifos had just 80 I.e just 960 were to be selected… moreover cse students who are having science graduation are all ticking in IFoS too so that they have chance of one extra mains before cse mains which they will use as mock test.. (as told my other candidates who appeared).. so all in all this leads tougher prelims easier mains(than cse, since non serious candidates) and later non selection of dedicated players of ifos and cse players who have given as time pass will leave it definately if selected in cse.. overall bogus scheme of UPSC.
IFos should be reserved for B.Sc. and biology student bcz it is only one exam in this filed otherwise B.sc. student go to hell in research

There should be seperate CSP for IFoS Exam. 1st Paper should be the G.S. and 2nd paper should be based on 50% Forestry, Environment and Agriculture related questions, 25% Basic Science of Graduation level and 25% should be Aptitude. This would open the door for B. Sc. students to get in the Indian Forest Service. This will resist the entry of Engineering students (who also appears for IFoS to check the pattern of Prelims of IAS now and block the entry of IFoS aspiring students of whose Aptitude is not so good. Even, the apitude is not so necessary in the Service also). If anyone visit the IGNFA (Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun in which IFoS officers stay for completing their probationary period), you’ll see M. Tech, B. Tech passed out studentsof IITs are there and they don’t have any regard to Serve in the Forestry Sector and in there they prepare for IAS. So, in the initial stage only, these students should be blocked in prelims only. I have shared my personal experience.
