  20. guys please post relevant comments only…..y th hell r u asking for language papers here where only geog should be discussed…!!!

  21. This paper not only needed thorough cramming of facts but also deep study of every chosen topic.. The paper is analytical , but not very tough. Since last few years, the focus is on relating theory with current geographic problems. If one keeps this in mind, paper can be scoring.

  22. writing more than 3700 words is itself a tough ask . Paper one was really a bouncer and only safe way was to duck it. I did exactly that by not touching nearly 60 marks question

  23. Hi can you tell me what are standard textbooks of geography for mains exam??
Also i want to do self study . Hence kindly tell me abt which coaching’s notes are best to follow & that can be purchased easily in DELHI.

Also Kindly upload the economics mains paper & suggest BOOKS for the same

  24. Than you for posting it sir. In my opinion both papers have shown a paradigm shift in approach. Though questions look very familiar but answering them requires great command over multiple disciplines. All this in a constrained time frame is never an easy task.sub kuch suna suna sa lagta hai par likhae kaise???????? any takers

  25. Both Papers had significant portion from demography which we all normally avoid reading much.anyways highest marks this year in Geography will not cross 350-360….a score of 280-300 will be a good score…provided ur other papers offset the loss u have made in geography.

  26. is it possible to upload geography notes of any latest toppers for reference

  27. Sir,
I’m planning for POL SCIENCE and GEOGRAPHY as optional.
I do have interest in these two subjects.
However my concern there is no sufficient gap between these two papers. As per the analysis given below only 2006 had sufficient gap.
my question, should I consider the gap entity while choosing optional.

    Year Political science Geography
    2006 10.11.2006 18.10.2006
    2007 31.10.2007 1.11.2007
    2008 21.10.2008 23.10.2008
    2009 27.20.2009 28.10.2009
    2010 02.11.2010 03.11.2010
    2011 02.11.2010 03.11.2010
    2012 09.10.2012 10.10.2012

    1. There are enough toppers who’ve defied this “gap” factor associated with various optionals.
on the other hand there are people with almost 10-15 days gaps between optionals and yet not clear the exam.

    2. @aditya
there is only one optional in UPSC cs mains 2013….so ur problem is solved…’

  28. Hello Mrunal,

Please let us know the strategy to be folllowed for geography mains 2013 as all these questions have not been asked from standard textbooks.
Would Savindra Singh suffice for geo, ocean and climiate ?
