Does it make any sense!!!???
HEY GUYS
I TOO GOT SHORTLISTED FOR SBI PO AND ALSO CLEARED IAS PRELIMS.
WANTED TO KNOW IF I CAN GET AN EXTENSION FOR JOINING SBI PO TILL MAINS EXAMINATION AND WHATS THE PROCEDURE.
PLEASE HELP
From my experience: dont tell them that you are preparing for CSE and hence need extension. they dont usually entertain such requests. Better to get some medical certificate showing that you are recuperating from some medical emergency and is unable to join. wait till you get your offer letter and there will be contact address for further communication in that. Call the concerned official and ask for the process to be followed for extension. If you are lucky, u might get extension.
thanks deejay
hope i could get an extension. my family is pressurizing me to join sbi soon.
Hi i am selected for sbi ,i am in first year of MBA the avg package in my college is around 7lac ,the fees is around 10 lac + expenses ,so is it worth leaving MBA for sbi and by any chance can i get 2 years extension ??and does MBA degree will have any effect on promotion
as per SBI rules and regulations one can get extension upto 3 months and if he want more then 3 months extension with valid reasons he can join next batch. Process of extension will start after medical when your documentation process start, you can put your application regarding extension at that time.
wish you all my selected dude and a lot of wishes to rest of my friends for their future aspects>>>>>>>>>

does SBI comes up with any second list for PO?
even I am in the same dilemma as @Tanveer….selected for Sbi PO and cleared prelims too….Kerala circle….hope the joining gets delayed…waiting for some inputs on extending the date of joining….I really want to give my best to the mains…but I understand it’s uncertain too…
@mrunal
does SBI comes up with any second list for PO ?
HEY PEOPLE CONGRATS TO THOSE WHO MADE IT TO THE FINAL LIST,AND BEST OF LUCK for upcoming exams TO THOSE WHO UNFORTUNATELY CUDNT.
GUYs please clarify,i hv been alloted new delhi circle, wht does tht actually indicate,my wholeprobation period will b in delhi or wht?
secondly, i have also qualified SSC CGL 2012 for central excise, gujarat. PLEASE PUT UR INPUTS W.R.T. PROS AND CONS.
your 2 year probation will be in delhi circle , you will be transferred every 3 month or so within that circle, after 2 years u may get transfer to other circle or may not
Central Excise Inspector is better than SBI PO.
Hi, in what terms do you say that Central Excise Inspector is better than SBI-PO? Salary wise, roughly both are same but there are more perks with SBI-PO. I agree that in case of CE-Inspector, you won’t get transfer so frequent as the case with PO but with respect to opportunities to grow within the organisation, SBI is better than central excise inspector/CSS. If you are talking in terms of money from ‘extra-legal’ sources in case of CE-Inspector, that is a different matter altogether.
Hey,
Can anyone tell me about the real cutoffs in objective and descriptive papers of sbi-PO 2013??
Btw how can I be able to know my marks??
SBI PO Hyderabad circle…..
Can remaining candidates check their results ? I want to know my marks.

Hi All those who cleared…
Could you please share your experience of GD and interview. What all questions were asked to you, how did it go etc..?
my GD topic – “if you are given 5mn dollars, what will you do from the money??”, conditions- you can spend it whatever way you want and you don’t have to return the money….
Interview- casteism in India, Snowden, little bit of physics, Marketing concepts, my USP etc. my interview did not last very long. My GD was excellent. i dare say it but i almost felt that they had selected me during the GD itself.

SBI PO or RBI B Grade????????????
there is no doubt in that It will always be RBI B Grade
Hi,
I am selected in SBI PO. Mumbai circle. But in dielemma same as that of Tanveer.I am pass out from COEP, Pune in E&TC engg. I worked in iNautix Technologies India Pvt Ltd for last tow years. But I left the organisation last week. I dont enjoy workng in IT that much. I have cleared Prelims of UPSC.and cleared SBI too..
Can you please answer my following queries?
1) What is the “In hand” per month salary SBI PO will be getting, including all the allowances? (I read a lot but wanted “In hand with all allowances?
2) What are the increments per year per month there in SBI? and yes, growth opportunities?
3)If some of you have worked in IT, is the culture like typically govt organisation or more like IT?
4) As in case of Tanveer, Please advise something. which thing I should go for- UPSC mains study, another private job or SBI PO?
Hi ,I am in a It company ,middle management earning like 50k but going to join sbi so maybe a little bias in my point of view
The in hand salary reaches between 32-35k MAX ,Doesn’t matter much as for first 3-4 years of your career u r going to be mostly posted in a very remote or semi urban area .Some of my friends have been posted in areas where even 2G does’nt work
I don’t know about increments as such but the DA etc do get revises quarterly
The culture s very very different ,mind u .IT is all about delivery but sbi is all about process . Believe me your maximum time will be devoted to match the customer details with finnacle data base (I have seen scale 2 officers doing that ).Plus unlike IT the crowd will not be young but middle age mostly .Not only you have to learn things but sometimes a clerk of say 30 yrs exp will be given order by u .I don’t think u ever see this in IT
Dude ,nothing can be predicted ,take risks .U may go for mains ,may not crack it but may not be able to get sbi next year either .I mean what are the odds of sbi coming out with vacancies next year .If u can switch it is purely ur decision .I will advise take sbi ,& put a plan for preparation of mains in your daily schedule
Thanks Ayush! It really helps…
You sure that the in hand will be around 33-34k Per month, including all the deductions made? Because I heard some saying its upto 27000 or something!
I mean money is not at all my first priority but IT IS SOMETHING right? :)
I never enjoyed working in IT Much. But the culture is good. I want to take uo a job, where I can get time to persue my hobbies..I can get time for my family and friends and which will pay me fair salary. (though not 50000-60000 or something). Having said this, What would you suggest me?
Kindly reply,
Hrushikesh
The best job for addressing your concerns is definitely RBI/SEBI/NABARD sort off .But again they have 4 times the difficulty level from SBI :)
The difficulty level you are talking about is regarding the selection process I guess….yes, Thats true.RBI exam is near on 25th.lets see….
anyway,Thanks buddy:)
hi..
our basic is 16900
da around (90 % of basic) 15210
house rent allowance(7% of basic avg) 1183
gross total salary 33293
cuttings for pf and new pension fund -4000
net salary without allowances 29293
Allowances
1.)leased accommodation ranges from 5000 to 30000.. so avg 15000
2.)petrol allowance (35lit to 50lit @ 72) 3000 (provided vehicle is registered on your name)
3.)paper bill 500
4.)misc.. 1000
5.)total avg allowances 20000
so total salary including allowances is 50000. imp thing here is bank is also contributing 4000 every month for pf and other schemes.which is not counted and even more importantly wage revision is under consideration…. so in any case you will get 45k to 50k and even more than that…
@Hrushikesh…just curious…but were you asked the common question about why you want to leave IT and get into SBI…i.e about the switch from Technology to Banking….what justification did u give?
Just asking coz I was asked the same and the interviewer did not looked satisfied with my answer. He pointed out that I have 4.5 years experience in IT and have also got promotion so trying to switch at this point is “not good” :)
Hey Sonali,
Actually I was expecting the thes ame kind of traditional questions for me. lke, being a techie, why banking and all. Some candidates from my panel were asked these questions. But surprisingly, they didn’t ask me anything related to that. Right from the moment I entered, i was fired with questions related to Economy, banking, music and tabla(my interests/hobbies),politics, what should govt do, kind of things.
But I was prepared with the answer, I don’t know if it could have satisfied the interviewers or not.I would have told points like job satisfaction, uncertain future of software companies, growth opportunities etc rubbish stuff. :) but they didnt ask me!
I guess,You are selected right? then why to bother about this! and just curious, where do you work, in which company?
-Hrushikesh
but the notification says that the max. annual package is about 7-8 lacks subject to HRA. It should be between 50-70k per month. Can you clarify this difference ?
difference is that house rent in mumbai is more and only for mumbai it gonna be 70k
yes, that is why i have given a range…that for min. HRA it shud be 50k and for max. it shud be 70k. but people are saying that a PO gets max. 32,000/- in hand. can you clarify it?
that 70k or 50k is including HR and so in hand gonna be 40 around … n ya rest normal po people get even 27k in other banks. and last pay commission came in 2003, it comes every 10 yrs, pay commission 2013 will be coming soon within a year after which bank pay will increase upto 10k more ..
this way also some monthly amount will be deducted from 40 something … but u join and then u will get to know that despite ok ok pay, ..but like monthly petrol, furniture in 10 yrs.. ltc .. self loan on low rate things ..
Hi Hrushikesh,
am also working in same company. could you please tell how do you manage you time for Studying for civil service exam?
You are from iNautix!! Great…
You work out of chennai or Pune?
I know ine Yuvraj, Can I have your full name?
Preparation wise,Honestly speaking, I didn’t study much for Prelims. Just newpapers, WebSites like GKtoday, Jagran josh helped me a lot.I used to read them while in office only. On weekends, I used to study (sometimes, if I get time out of movies and friends :) )some books recommended by few of my friends..basic books!! And anyway, to crack prelims, is not a big task , I guess. Because, you have paper two in Hand, having English and quantitative aptitude…You can score the most in that paper.
What needs efforts is Mains and Interview part. Lets see!!
My full name is Yuvaraj Subramaniam
Location :Chennai
Could u tell what are the books you have studied for preliminary exam?
Hi, I called an SBI Deputy Manager who earlier joined it as PO at around 6:30 pm to seek his opinion, He told me that he would call me back once he gets home. I ate my dinner at 8:30 pm and thought that he must have forgot… Then around 9:30 pm I got a call from him…. It was amazing that I got my answer from him without even asking the question.
He told me tht perks are good and salary is also fine. He has a leased residence all for himself… but the hours they put in job is insane. He did not seem too happy with the job but was not sad either…
I am yet to make up my mind, In my present job I need to put only 5 hours a day and I make 25k per month. It is not enough for me but it gives me enough time to prepare. I might continue this, I have been like this always, I have proposed girls even when I knew I don’t stand a chance and one time I got lucky,I made it my life philosophy… I did not take placement despite studying from Top Gujarat Engg. Institute(Nirma),Started freelancing as an HR Consultant ….. Guess I am gonna continue taking my chance…. Not taking up SBI .
Would you mind sharing your email id, Tanveer?

HEY TANVEER,
I ACTUALLY HAVE MY TRAINING IN HYDERABAD (SBI PO) THIS 30TH SEPT. I HAVE BEEN WORKING AT INDIAN OVERSEAS BANK AS PO FOR 1.5 MONTHS. I RESIGNED 20 DAYS AGO BUT HAVE STILL NOT GOT THE DISCHARGE LETTER. SHOULD I SIMPLY WALK INTO SBI -HYD TRAINING CENTRE AND NOT DISCLOSE MY EMPLOYMENT DETAILS. AS IT IS THERE IS NO MENTION OF THE SAME IN SBI-BIO DATA.
KINDLY HELP
u seem one cool guy
Tanveer,
I need a suggestion from you.I am presently working in a steel plant.i had a bond period of 3 years which will be completed on aug 30 2013 i.e this month. If i get selected for a job via ssc, bank, insurance etc do i need to show them the relieving letter from previous employer. The problem is that my present company demands a 2 month notice period after resignation date and i have some other commitments to fulfill and thus can’t wait for 2 months. Can i do without the relieving letter ?? Advice please.
If you have mentioned the work experience in the form then you will have to produce the relieving letter/NOC from your previous/Current employer… But if you have not mentioned it in the form. You don’t need to produce any letter.
Nobody is going to reject/cancel your candidature you if you cannot produce the relieving letter, at most the matter will go to administrative tribune.Where you can put up your case.
MY ADVICE- Don’t show exp. if you are not sure of relieving letter.
Thanks tanveer, Il keep your advice in mind while filling forms in future. It will also help me in making the correct decision.
Hi Mr. Tanveer,
I am glad to have found your comments in this website. I need a very strong advice from you regarding my choice of career. I have been selected in sbi po as well as a HR specialist in Bank of Baroda.
Mr. Tanveer kindly give your suggestions to my following two questions:
1. SBI is a dream company for many and so for me. But HR is my dream post something that i had longed for a long time. In case i happen to join in sbi as po, do i stand a chance of working in their HR department with my po expereince or will HR experience alone be required for SBI HR department?
2. With the ratings i had chosen Bank of baroda for HR post. Though it is a north based bank, me being a south indian I would like to know my chances of being posted in south india for long. Please do advice if likely chances are available for me being posted in south india in the long run.
Being a women i would like to know which job would be of less stress and pressure for me in the long run.
Hi Jack,
Sorry for the late reply, Got busy with upsc preparation, coming to your question, I do not know whether till level 3 they will assign you any HR responsibilities but yes once you climb up the ladder may be to an AGM position, you might be given HR responsibilities…
Hi Hrushikesh,
No I was not selected ultimately hence my question to you :)….I have a sneaky feeling that may be they rejected me coz of this experience in IT and thought that I have become too involved with IT culture and would find it difficult to get into banking :D
I work in IBM, Kolkata.
Hi Sonali
I would like to discuss with you
Im also in the same situation
my email tradesre@gmail.com
Hey Sonali,
As far as I know, I don’t think that might be the reason. and I am sorry to hear that. Some times the things don’t turn out the way you expect them to.
In fact,in my case,I was not finding myself connected and happy with software industry. So I had to search for some other options. :)
Is it the case with you also? Not happy in IT? :)
Still, I am in dilemma whether I should go for Banking or not? I mean Later on I should not regret my decision to move away from software..
Any suggestions what I should do?
hey and you can mail me if you want. My id : rishi.bhumralkar@gmail.com
Hi Hrushikesh,
Mine is a unique problem…First I get into IT at a very bad time(2008) recession…then I get posted to Pune against my family’s wishes…Not that I did not connect with IT culture…in fact I had misgivings about leaving this IT culture when I started preparing for Banks :)
But, then I got dragged back to Kolkata to the detriment of my career and the IT culture here (at least in my opinion) is not of that standard (sort of pheeka compared to Pune :) )
So, keeping in mind that things in private sector can only go worse specially in Kolkata (which exports only 3% of India’s software requirement) and which has dwindling industries owing to lousy policies, I am trying to switch back to something stable like government job.
I have no issues with long working hours of banks and as perk I might even get posted to progressive places like Bangalore and Mumbai…Believe it or not, Iam one of those Bong who is desperately trying to leave West Bengal and is being held back only by my blackmailing relatives who refuse to let me go unless I secure a government job :D!!!!
Hrushikesh
As to suggestion, I would say to each his own…..every job has its own pros and cons….IT has unstable outlook dependent on global economic conditions as its cons while Banks have their rural postings !!!
For me, it is lack of opportunities in science and technology in my home state that is motivating me to switch…and also the fact that I found economics a fascinating subject once I started preparing for Banking jobs…..It was not a bitter pill that I was forcing down my throat :)
If you are not satisfied with IT, then why not try Banking….You would still get time to rectify your “mistake” I am sure if eventually you don’t like Banking sector :) :)
Hi Sonali,
I had the same doubt before the interview. I have more than five years of experience in IT and I work with a big IT company . During the interview I believe I convinced them why I need to make the switch . If you can do the same , I don’t think it will be a problem.
Hi Indu,
Good to know that you secured the job :)
And interviews are crazy stuff (coz human beings are unpredictable…much easier to hoodwink a computer :) )……u never know what mood the interviewer is in!!
Would like to know what reasons you gave for switch during interview…..my interviewer was hell bent on trying to prove that IT is also a secure job and with my experience(!) I should not be switching into an uncharted territory (those were his exact words) at this stage….Not even mention of Raghuram Rajan’s track record (as to how he was a gold medalist from IIT and yet now is a respected economist) held water as an arguement :( :(
