Navdeep Singh Suhag (4th Rank, 2012)
- I started my preparation for PET only a week before actual date as I was involved with my State PCS Mains and then Civil Services PT preparation. I have sports background so I didn’t feel much trouble in getting into shape soon
- but I would suggest other candidates to at least try all the events in a quick succession so as to stimulate the real test conditions. Otherwise, the officials present there are also very cooperative in the sense that they give time lag between events like 800mt and 100mt.
- My PET was held at Basic Training Centre of ITBP, Bhanu in Panchkula District. Ours was first batch of this recruitment. Officials were very cooperative in matters like sending few of their employees to get our documents photo stated in case one missed some.
- One important thing to be remembered is to furnish all important documents, originals, at time of PET or else you will not be allowed to undertake test.
- Take PET as test of your courage and determination rather than physical ability as it is more related to mental toughness. Here it pays more is to be determined mentally in comparison to physical preparedness. So focus on this aspect too while preparing.
Kartikeya Mishra (Rank 4, 2011)
During graduation, I worked out almost none. So the first day in field for PET preparation(20 odd days before the PET) was forgettable and I clocked about 10 minutes for 800 meters.
But I relied on muscle memory and 15 days of running (2 Km a day) brought me within the clocks. One day prior to the tests, I worked exclusively for long jump (which is toughest part of PET, because of people not knowing the technique). For non-regular sportsperson, it is mandatory not to push their bodies too far in first few days to avoid sudden injury. Fitness test is of medium toughness but it is conducted in the month of June often starting in the afternoon so it becomes a nightmare once the cloud cover is not there.
Mani Barathi (Rank 5, 2012)
- My PET was held in NISA, CISF, Hyderabad on 09/05/13. I got approximately one month time after result declaration to prepare for PET.
- Since I was an athlete from school days PET was not difficult for me. 15 days would be sufficient to fit in the requirements for an average person. 800 m and long jump are the events in which most people fail. There are lot of tips in net for long jump.
Vishal Bansal (Rank 9, 2012)
- It was the hardest part for me. Due to the very nature of preparation of civil services one hardly gets time for physical exercise. So confidence in own physical capability was surely an issue. However with the help of friends, their motivation and firm resolve, all went well.
- I used staircase running to build up stamina.
- Completing 100m sprint was always a grey area after running 800m. I never finished the line before 14 secs. Luckily at the PET, 100m sprint was the first event.
- High temperatures of summer noon and blowing air mixed with dust, drained much energy during 800m. I cleared long jump event in my last attempt. I need not mention shot-put event as no one fails in this ever.
Viplav (Rank 47, 2012)
- Before the results of written test I had never run even 500m at a stretch in my whole life , so I had to start from scratch. I focused on building my stamina by doing push-ups and running by the clock.
- PET takes place on a hot-sunny day so chances of nasal-bleeding are very high.one should keep a wet handkerchief and put it in his mouth while running.it helps in keeping the mouth moist and avoids any chances of bleeding. Do not take take rest between the events.
- While practicing alone you may not clock the required timings but don’t panic.on the PET day you are made to run with 20-30 people so your timings will automatically improve without you even realizing.
- While practicing don’t push yourself too hard, try not to get hurt before the PET.
- On the PET day keep yourself motivated every minute and don’t lose hope even for a second.
Some more
- I have been a regular member of school and college football and cricket teams so it was easy. Anybody involved in field sports would find it a cakewalk. Although I saw most aspirants failing in long jump which was merely coz of not being familiar with technique. (Dharmendra Singh Rank 25)
- I’m an avid foody. An aspirant puts up weight faster. I was 90 kg so i reduced 23 kg in 3 months. I followed salad n low fat diet. I was studying for mains . Jogging 5 km daily n dieting. It helped me get fitter and enhanced my focus. I felt better about myself and confident. Sufficient practice for 1 month can get an avg built person through. (Swachhand Chavan Rank 99)
- I had taken tips from my PET sir (School) and practiced at home for about an hour daily. It is not that hard to clear PET but one has to follow the rules of the game. While practicing remember one thing, try all the events at one time, I mean don’t take rest in between the events as it is the same on real time. (Gangavarapu Vikram Rank 137)

GUYZ!! those who have already appeared in PET kindly share the details of how many were called on the particular day, how many turned up and how many got PET qualified finally?? PLEASE
This is an attempt to figure out how many would in approx reach interviews this year……………thanks in advance
Hyderabad 23rd may
45 called . appeared 32 4 not allowed due to improper documents like getting deaf preview instead of actual deaf
So 28 participated
4 disqualified in running events, 8 in long jump
16 qualified for medical
PET qualified on 23/05/2104 at ITBP Camp, Tigri.
They are calling 50 candidates at a time (That’s what the case at TIGRI)
Around 40-35 candidates show up generally.
Rejection rate may vary, on My Pet day 14 were selected but a day before 35 candidates nailed PET, and yesterday 13 got selected out of 32.
Till now m the only female candidate who qualified PET from ITBP TIGRI. But they’ve sent me for review medical for eyes.
Hi. Could u elaborate on reason for remedical for eyes ?
Asking coz I failed to read some numbers in color blind test initially . will that lead to remed?
Well, The guys are very strict when it comes to color blindness. I have another issue, its regarding my spectacle power. The allowed limit is -4.00 D, I have -3.75 in left eye and -4.00 in right eye, But on my medical day the ophthalmologist there deduced -4.5D. But the presiding officer of our medical board was very supportive, He sensed that it could be an error of judgment so he advised me to positively appeal for RE-medical. Very next day I approached AIIMS eye center for a genuine and exact eye check up, and the doctors there declared my power as -3.75D and -4.00D. So with that I’ve appealed for Re-Medical. Hope it goes well this time.
If u think that you are not color blind then you can also appeal for RE-Medical, But for that you have to get your eyes examined by a MCI registered doctor and have to get a Medical fitness from the same. Thereafter you can appeal for re-medical.
Best Of Luck.!
Thanks. Even I had 4 in one of my eyes but I got prescription with 3.5. The govt doc didn’t check thoroughly, he just wrote what was in prescription :-)
Lucky you!
Any female candidates please share ur pet experience?? Wer dey lenient in long jump???Mine on 27th bsf
They were very encouraging. Dont give up in running events, keep running at a steady pace. I hope you had some practice. I took my brother’s digital wrist watch and kept track of the time.
For the long jump, have a short runup and preferably bare foot. Count 8-12 steps of normal stride length from the line and try 1-2 jumps before the event. All the best.
Thanks a lot
mine at jharoda kalan crpf at 24..
50 called,38 appeared (5 disqualified in running events,6 in long jump,1 in short put) total 26 cleared…(medicals are going on)..
2 girls appeared both cleared..board quiet lenient(helped a lot provided some demo in short put and other instruction in each events)
You seems to be of my batch.
Hey anybody having PET on 26th in Talegaon??? Please share experiences of PET @ talegaon who already faced PET
My PET experience @ Jharoda kalan,CRPF Campus (22nd may):
total no. of students turned up: 40 out of 50.
total no. of students who were sent back(due to docs prob): 1
Don’t forget to bring ur 10th,12th and graduation marksheets and passing certificated separately if available.
Also, if u r OBC, dont forget to fill the annexure given in instructions sheet of DAF.
total no. of girls out of 40 students: 2
100 m: everybody got qualified in this event(Commandants were very lenient in this event). Nobody got rejected even after making it in 18 sec. Just make sure that u r not the last one in the race. Even if u r last, just make sure the difference between u and second last is less than a second. A group of 8 was made to run on the track. Those 8 were chosen roll no. wise.
800m: There was hardly a gap of 5-7 mins b/w 100 and 800m race. Don’t drink water in b/w the events. You might start vmitting.
Everybody was made to run at one go.
Only 1 got disqualified. Commandants were very co-operative throughout this event. They cheered up for us and motivated us to finish the race before time, but still they were very lenient with the timings. I think they gave 10 seconds extra for this event. That one guy who got disqualified literally started panting and started walking on the track. Don’t lose hope. They will test ur patience and determination. Trust me 800m is not so easy.
Long jump: had Maxm rejection rate. almost 8 got rejected here. You get enough time b/w 800m and long jump to restore your energy and feel rejuvenated. Try not to drink water.
They give you 3 chances here and trust me they are very strict in this particular event. They will be very particular about foul line and 3.5 m line. DOnt overstep foul line. You would never want to waste ur precious chance on this mistake.
Try to have a run up of atleast 20-25 steps from the foul line and then start running at ur full pace. Once you clear this event, nothing is gonna stop u from clearing the PET.
Shot put: The easiest one. But lemme tell 2 students got rejected in our batch in this event as well. They took this event very lightly and ended up committing silly mistakes while throwing the ball.
RESULT: Cleared PET.
22 out of 40 cleared PET on 22nd may at jharoda.
Thanks a lot for the information. I will try my best to clear written this year. However, i have a tattoo on my arm… do you have any idea if that will be a problem in medical or PET? i cant find any definitive answer anywhere. Thanks in advance.
Nishat… Bhai kya hua remedical ka ??
if a person suffers frm piles…will they give chance for remedial.??
After being selected as an assistant commandant, Do they allow us to appear for upsc civil service?
remedial for piles is allowed? ??
Thanks a lot..
will they give chance of remedical if a person suffers from piles..
Anybody has physical on 27…nazafgarh cha2la camp..number plzz or mail me
The work culture is not very cordial in paramilitary forces .The Commandants are very rude people.Maybe they work under IPS so they become like that.(they feel inferior and hence look out for easy preys and in their subordinates /new recruits they find them).I found a sharp contrast in the attitude of the people at UPSC when i went for civil service interview and when i met those nincompoop commandants.
Things would be a lot better for everyone if the new generation of commandants behave cordially and are helpful with the new recruits.I am posting this as this site is visited by many aspiring and selected commandants.
Keeping my fingers crossed for civil services results.
Jai hind!
Pet 27th hyderabad. 29 appeared 21 cleared. 1 rejected for height, 1 for chest expansion, 3 in running and 3 in long jump..
Authorities were very cordial.
any one who has PET on 29th Tigri ITBP camp?
Review.
All the 3 papers given to us should be sent to the commision after consulting a doctor? Do we have to go to the centre again for review? How will we be informed about the review?
Any body who has gone through PET in ITBP tigri camp? Pls brief about the tigri camp ground for 800m like pkka or kacha surface , how many rounds of ground require to complete 800m etc etc. ?
Smbdy plz tell us how to go about re- medical thing? How these 3 papers given to us for review are supposed to be filled? will re-medical happen at the same venue where medical happened?
3 papers are given to you for remedical 1)to be filled by you abt general information2)to be
No remedical will be in delhi
DD will be of 100 rs
Should reach to delhi within 15 days otherwise u will be disqualified
@JIM and @Nishant
U have to keep the original student copy given to you with you only. Get the medical fitness attested by a doctor, fillup the another appeal form given to you and send it along with the DD and a self addressed envelop.
So in all there should be 4 items in d envelop. Hope this clarifies your doubt.
hi, can anyone explain how will they check for flat foot and knock knees?
how many cleared in PET and Medical out of 2450?? Any guess…
Must be between 800-900
Around 900.
Thank u Manvendra…Elimination rate is quite high dis tym//..and wot would be approximate cut off for final selection??? Interview schdul any date???
wot would be approximate cut off any idea????
anyone from 27th May, CRPF camp physical test batch?
can any one please tell me when will interview starts ?and is it necessary to declare the final result of capf 2013 prior to capf 2014 exam ?
The interview will start within two to three weeks from now.Of course UPSC will have to declare capf 2013 results before 13th July.
what about those aspirant who are suppose to have their review medical on july3?
@anuj arya. do you got your re medical date on 03 july? if yes, how you came to know about that date?
arun Medical Board of ITBP chandigarh told candidates who were over weight that time, they will have to report on 3july.
No such rule, interviews will start only after review medicals get over. In my estimate the interviews will start after 15th of July and final result by mid-august.
but in the notification it was written that provisional interview will take place of those who have been given medical review ,,,it means interview can take place prior to medical review….
In general they are not following this rule and generally conducts interview only after medical reviews, lets see what happens this time.
Then what abt those writing next year and who may get selected this year? Since prelims this time is early, we can’t compare schedule with earlier years. Upsc exam cycles usually end before the next year exam begin.
@bhaz bhai…exam dene se tabiyat kharab nahi ho jayegi agar select ho b gaye to…ultimately 2014 k procedure me ek saal to lagega hi, usse pehle 2013 ka matter final kar degi upsc…thoda to logic lagaya karo yaar :P
there is no hard n fast rule that they shud finish it before next years exam
@deepak u keep Ur logic to itself. Already ppl have started getting interview call letters. So it is obvious remed after interview. All the best if u have qualified for interview
Regarding hard and fast rule thing, check any upsc exam cycle, it completes before next year cycle.
For remedical form which doctor should certify same?govt praactitionar or private practitionar can also certify?plz rep its urgent.
Neone bt he should be registered wid mci r state medical council registration number important
Registration number is not important…. I have got my copies attested from CMO of CGHS,wellness centre, noida… he told me not to worry about it…
Its written in form chief medical officer from concerned specialised field… is it necessary CMO shld b MD in general medicine only???
its nowhere written that one should get it attested by CMO…. its talking about specialist in a particular field and not CMO…
Yr.. mera toh misplace ho gaya.. lag gayi..
Tried calling for extension .. but nobody picks up..:-(
has the date for re-medical announced?? would it be before interview?? Any idea about interview dates??
Does any one know when will interviews start?
