Navdeep Singh Suhag (4th Rank, 2012)
- I started my preparation for PET only a week before actual date as I was involved with my State PCS Mains and then Civil Services PT preparation. I have sports background so I didnāt feel much trouble in getting into shape soon
- but I would suggest other candidates to at least try all the events in a quick succession so as to stimulate the real test conditions. Otherwise, the officials present there are also very cooperative in the sense that they give time lag between events like 800mt and 100mt.
- My PET was held at Basic Training Centre of ITBP, Bhanu in Panchkula District. Ours was first batch of this recruitment. Officials were very cooperative in matters like sending few of their employees to get our documents photo stated in case one missed some.
- One important thing to be remembered is to furnish all important documents, originals, at time of PET or else you will not be allowed to undertake test.
- Take PET as test of your courage and determination rather than physical ability as it is more related to mental toughness. Here it pays more is to be determined mentally in comparison to physical preparedness. So focus on this aspect too while preparing.
Kartikeya Mishra (Rank 4, 2011)
During graduation, I worked out almost none. So the first day in field for PET preparation(20 odd days before the PET) was forgettable and I clocked about 10 minutes for 800 meters.
But I relied on muscle memory and 15 days of running (2 Km a day) brought me within the clocks. One day prior to the tests, I worked exclusively for long jump (which is toughest part of PET, because of people not knowing the technique). For non-regular sportsperson, it is mandatory not to push their bodies too far in first few days to avoid sudden injury. Fitness test is of medium toughness but it is conducted in the month of June often starting in the afternoon so it becomes a nightmare once the cloud cover is not there.
Mani Barathi (Rank 5, 2012)
- My PET was held in NISA, CISF, Hyderabad on 09/05/13.Ā I got approximately one month time after result declaration to prepare for PET.
- Since I was an athlete from school days PET was not difficult for me. 15 days would be sufficient to fit in the requirements for an average person. 800 m and long jump are the events in which most people fail. There are lot of tips in net for long jump.
Vishal Bansal (Rank 9, 2012)
- It was the hardest part for me. Due to the very nature of preparation of civil services one hardly gets time for physical exercise. So confidence in own physical capability was surely an issue. However with the help of friends, their motivation and firm resolve, all went well.
- I used staircase running to build up stamina.
- Completing 100m sprint was always a grey area after running 800m. I never finished the line before 14 secs. Luckily at the PET, 100m sprint was the first event.
- High temperatures of summer noon and blowing air mixed with dust, drained much energy during 800m. I cleared long jump event in my last attempt.Ā I need not mention shot-put event as no one fails in this ever.
Viplav (Rank 47, 2012)
- Before the results of written test I had never run even 500m at a stretch in my whole life , so I had to start from scratch. I focused on building my stamina by doing push-ups and running by the clock.
- PET takes place on a hot-sunny day so chances of nasal-bleeding are very high.one should keep a wet handkerchief and put it in his mouth while running.it helps in keeping the mouth moist and avoids any chances of bleeding. Do not take take rest between the events.
- While practicing alone you may not clock the required timings but donāt panic.on the PET day you are made to run with 20-30 people so your timings will automatically improve without you even realizing.
- While practicing donāt push yourself too hard, try not to get hurt before the PET.
- On the PETĀ day keep yourself motivated every minute and donāt lose hope even for a second.
Some more
- I have been a regular member of school and college football and cricket teams so it was easy. Anybody involved in field sports would find it a cakewalk. Although I saw most aspirants failing in long jump which was merely coz of not being familiar with technique. (Dharmendra Singh Rank 25)
- Iām an avid foody. An aspirant puts up weight faster. I was 90 kg so i reduced 23 kg in 3 months. I followed salad n low fat diet. I was studying for mains . Jogging 5 km daily n dieting. It helped me get fitter and enhanced my focus. I felt better about myself and confident.Ā Sufficient practice for 1 month can get an avg built person through. (Swachhand Chavan Rank 99)
- I had taken tips from my PET sir (School) and practiced at home for about an hour daily. It is not that hard to clear PET but one has to follow the rules of the game. While practicing remember one thing, try all the events at one time, I mean donāt take rest in between the events as it is the same on real time. (Gangavarapu Vikram Rank 137)

Hello guys
I am cpf 2012 rank 6
Honestly, physical is not too tough but couldn’t be taken lightly either…
Start regular running.. and be determined to clear it.. all the best guys..
@nimish:plz provide me some guidance regarding Paper 1 of cpf…I mean how to prepare to get good marks..for upcoming 2014 exam…
Hi Nimish
could you please share job profile of ACP in different central police force .
which is better CISF vs CRPF vs SSB Vs BSF vs ITBP
1). CISF is by far, most SAFE force.. No frontier postings.. Technically most advanced, lot of metro postings, but contrary to popular misconception, there are many bad postings as well.. eg. Oil rigs, gas fields and remote PSU locations.. High perks, Increased chance of getting deputations in CBI, IB, RAW, NIA etc due to proximity with Netas while making their Asses safe and secure in North/South block, MP quarters, Minister’s bungalows.. On the negative side, very poor promotion chances.. You more often than not, will retire as IG.
2). CRPF has great promotion chances, abundant manpower (you will get more followers and shadows than any else force) maintains a ratio of 2:1 posting (2 years in disturbed area, 1 in peace.. Well, when entire nation is burning, the ratio sometimes skews in favor of disturbance), best canteen facilities and good chances of getting in limelight by doing good work.. On the downside, you wont be able to keep family with you for the time you spend in field.. Infact, you will be allowed to, but who wishes to keep his family in Chaibasa/Latehar/Dantewada.. Second problem is that more better you perform, more disturbed area postings you will get in reward.. Contrary to urban legends, you won’t be in the firing line EVER, so probability of dying while posted in Dantewada arises more from Malaria or snake bite or falling on your head from horseback, less from bullets of militants.. You will enjoy royal accommodations, golf courses and shooting competitions once getting a peace posting..
3). SSB is best place for, I hate to say it, in naked words- kamana, khana.. Well, if you are not inclined towards this malignancy, SSB offers good working conditions in close ties with district police administration, and a bit of social life.. You will be invited as chief guests in schools, NCC camps.. You can do a hell lot of good to prevent smuggling, drug and human trafficking. You will get immense satisfaction, once you will know that you just prevented an ISI handler or LET operative from breaching our boundaries and planting a bomb near india gate or highcourt, or you just rescued a bunch of nepalese juveniles and children being trafficked to work as sex workers in brothels of Delhi or Mumbai.. The downside of job is lack of technical advancements and weaponry because SSB was combatised as late as in 2005.
4). BSF and ITBP are more close to Army than to Police.. In both forces, you can reach upto ADG levels (till date).. The problem with ITBP is mountain postings.. But it offers many Delhi postings as well.. Quality of life is best in ITBP among all five.. In BSF, the posting along LOC in J&K is quite dangerous, but in most of the cases, the frontal engagements with terrorists trying to infilterate would be successfully taken care of by inspectors and constables, and an AC will not be threatened..

For all those who want tips for PET….
Firstly what ever is your weight just forget it from today and just follow my words. (my own experience)
Consume maximum protien instead of rice.. Now my wieght was 87 kgs when the result was out last year.
This is wahat i did.
5 am to 7 am running everyday. With short breaks and of course i used to check the time and speed.
once am done after 2 hours i had oats+milk….. (big bowl)… why oats? rich in fibre——– helps in reducing weight.
around 11 am one glass of mosumbi juice (again fibre in small amount….or else eat 2 mosumbi wit inside peel)
1 pm great lunch with chicken… not fried…but boiled with little masala…(excess fry looses protien)..
5 pm tea + peanuts (protien again)……small jog + long jump practice from 6 pm to 7 pm….
dinner—- ONLY SALAD (3 TOMATO + 2 CUCUMBER + 2 ONION + 1 BEETROOT). —–Extra fibre.
My weight on PET day was 75 ;)… i cleared PET …. unfortunately failed in medical for a bogus reason ( knock knees).
its not even visible properly….it really depends on the medical board. delhi board was strict.
And those whoose height is like 164cms…one guy was eliminated in my batch for that…but i guess it depends from centre to centre.
weight there is compromise for 5 kgs
Having said that delhi guys be prepared for a surprise….your PET wont start before 1 pm…. :(…
YES…you have to run in the hot burning sun :(…
800 metre is biggest killer….max elimination..most of them were civil service aspirants and had big tummy…lolz..
NO long jump practice = FATAL
BEST OF LUCK GUYS
bro.. was the case of ur KNOCK KNEES marginal?? my case sounds similar… knees touches very marginally at attention … wont touch in any other stances… plz do giv a reply
bro.. was the case of ur KNOCK KNEES marginal?? my case sounds similar⦠knees touches very marginally at attention ⦠wont touch in any other stances⦠plz do giv a reply
well it is marginal…mine is not the case of those type of images you get in google when you type knock knees.
… you will never say i have knock knees until i stand in attention position with v shaped feet. i had delhi centre. Maybe it depends from centre to centre too.
got it………………….thanks to murnal sir ,for his valuable guidance
cleared
I need help in deciding the CAPF service preferences. Any idea how do people choose among these 5 services? Perks-Salary-areas?
well, if u want to avoid risky profile,(like serving in naxal areas , maoist areas) then avoid CRPF. u can urself see in news abt recent killing of CRPF personnel..
it should be CISF>ITBP>SSB>BSF>CRPF
Anyone having any idea about medical standards??? Are they really difficult ?? Plzz help me out frnds.
do weight really bothered in PET…. If so how far they consider from notified one…..
vai koi mujhe help kardo…main pehli bar yeh exm mein baithne wala hoon…koi bata sakte hain ki gen cat mein p1 aur p2 milake kitna cut off jata hain approx?
I want to practice long jump.can anyone tell me where I can practice long jump in delhi.
whr do u live ash??
there is a good track and lon jump base at west patel nagar ramjas ground open to all
Sourabh can you please mention the complete address ?
west patel nagar RAMJAS GROUND, ask the rikshawala @ patel nagat metro.
plz mention the complete address. I live in baljeet nagar and want to practice here for the PET.
sir,
i have cleared the exam but i am worried about eye power. I have -4.0 and -4.25 D respectively in my left and right eyes. i have 6/6 vision after correction.
I have not come across any candidates through either mrunal website or any other where the eye issue has been discussed/commented/replied . Would be really a great help if you could clarify this query from someone who has had first hand experience or help me direct to any such forum .
Also would it be wise to undergo lasik given that there is approx 2-3 months time for medical exam?
thankyou.
no…never do LASIK.. …it is not allowed in defence and para military forces….some friend told me LASIK is not allowed in IPS also.
mentioned in gazette.
Regarding your eye sight am not very sure. mine was -2.00… i had no problem
the limits of eye power is +/-4D as per the notification…same as for the IPS, RPF etc… as per civil services medical standards, even if a candidate exceeds the given limits, he would be deemed fit if myopia/ hypermetropia is not progressive.. but capf notification is silent on this… NEVER GO FOR A LASER/LASIK surgery unlees directed by the authorities ..it will make you disqualified straight away… ur case is marginal..
i strongly believe u will go through the medical if u r fit in othr medical categories… dont worry..strt training..all d best
hello sir,the knock knees are checked by making the candidate to stand straight in attention position. The heels touching each other and toes apart in V-shape. If in this condition the two knees touch each other then it is determined as knock knees.
solution:
1:if you have this problemā¦than at night when you sleep keep TAKIA (pilow) between the knees.[most helpful and guaranteed solution(i also checked it to my friends)]
2:do 10-15 minutes practice with BRICKS and try to push bricks by kneesā¦ā¦(tested trick).
but donāt too much worry because i was gave 2 medical(constable and cpo si )and the CPO SI medical checking level was low compared with constable GDā¦. and the level of medical checking in CAPF AC should be lowā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.best of luck for medicalā¦..give your bestā¦
Thanks
