- The written test of SBI PO was held on 28.04.2013. Now, SBI has released the list of successful candidates. (Unlike UPSC which takes months to declare any result.)
- The roll numbers of successful candidates, available on in this PDF (click me to Download)
- Congratulations to those who passed.
- Those who could not make it in the list: there is more to life than just one exam so, don’t be a Devdas, prepare for the next competition exam and or whatever other career backup plans that you have.
- 18th June 2013: from this day, successful candidates can download their Call Letter and Bio-data Format.
- 3rd July 2013: from this day, The Phase II (Group discussion and personal interview) will start.
Importance of GDPI?
As per notification,
- your written marks (out of 250) are converted to out of 75
- and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks maximum) are converted to out of 25.
- The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category.
- =As we can see, Written weightage =3/4th and GDPI weightage is just 1/4th.
But ^that should not lead to any laziness on GDPI preparation because notification further says:
- The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank.
- The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately.

Hi guys,
My interview was yesterday and went on fine

Its my pleasure sir..
Hi all,
My GD/PI was done on 11/07/13 in Delhi centre.
Phase:1 – Certificate verification. It was stricter than what I expected. So, be prepared to answer questions based on your mark lists and any discontinuance in your career. One more thing to be taken care of is the signature and it should be similar to what you have put during exam. Further, make note of your test centre as it was also being asked to test the authenticity of the candidate in question.
Phase:2 – After the verification, we were taken to a conference room and then the panel arrived. They gave us a topic and gave 2 minutes time to ponder over the issue. Then each person is given a 2 minute duration to convey his points. After one round, they gave each of us one more minute to conclude/add upon our discussion if any. Then , the panel left and we were kept waiting in the hall . Our GD topic was “There should be a moratorium on strikes and bandhs for 10 years”.
Phase:3 – Interview
Each person was called and on an average the interview was 15 minutes. Most of the questions were based on banking in general, why personal interest in banking . Little about the GD topic and of course, biodata.
Some questions asked by the panel are :
a.What are the problems that banking face these days ?
b.What are the strengths of banking in India ?
c.What is Lender’s liability? (It seems this was on that day’s newspaper)
d.Why SBI , why not other banks ?
& other profile based questions.
The certificate verification was strict while the GD/Interview panel was cordial.
All the best !!
Interview Date: 8 July 2013
Venue: LHO, New Delhi
GD Topic: Capital Punishment should be abolished in India
My batch comprised of 12 people out of which 1 was absent and the other one was not allowed to participate because of dubious credentials (signature and thumb impression mismatch).
Everyone was given 2 minutes to put across their points. I spoke against the topic and put few basic points like it becomes necessary to give capital punishment in cases of heinous crimes, repeat offences and when it is a established fact when a person cannot be reformed. I added that our system is working fine as all death penalty appeals go to Supreme Court and there is a chance of Presidential pardon too. The system should be the way it is at present.
After the round was completed everyone was given an option of speaking for another one minute just in case one wish to add to his points. I added that Capital Punishment is abolished mostly in either Scandinavian countries which are already having a very high HDI and thus low crime rates or small countries which have low crime rates by virtue of their low population example Island nations. Thus I ended up substantiating my earlier stand.
In my view, candidate must ensure to put across new points and not just reiterate the points given by other candidates as it can have a negative impact on marks.
Interview
Duration 12-15 minutes
There were 4 members in the panel. All were retired MD level officials. (I guess there will be 4 members in every interview as they are asking for one original copy of Bio Data form + 3 photocopies )
I knocked at the door asked for permission to come in, wished everyone and took my seat with their permission.
M1 (I guess the Panel Head): Mayank you worked for Reliance General Insurance for 3 years. Why you left it in 2010 considering it’s a big company?
Me: Sir I had to come back to my native town for a couple of months for some family reasons. I had no sufficient leaves and that wasn’t a very good time considering the recession period. I was given an option to work with Agra Branch at a salary cut and I decided against it. So I was left with no other option but to resign from the services.
M1: Which group did your co. belonged to. Have Reliance applied for Banking Licence
Me: Sir ADAG, Anil Ambani group. No sir because they haven’t because they have interest in stock market through Reliance Money and as per RBI’s guidelines they cannot apply. The Panel then chatted about latest RBI guidelines. He asked what does Reliance Money do and how are they related to stock market. And I replied.
M1: What is the difference between Life Insurance and General Insurance?
Me: Sir risk covered in Life insurance is the life of an individual where as in general insurance, one can cover his vehicle, property health, etc. Basically general insurance is also termed as non-life insurance and that is the basic difference. M1 said with a smile. Yes non-life..
M1 then asked me what happens in case of Tsunamis, etc and I said they aren’t covered in a policy as they are deemed to be Act of God. He then said Force Mojure. I was clueless and he explained it’s a latin term for Act of God. I smiled and said Thank you sir for the information, I wasn’t aware of it.
Then he passed it on to other member of the group
M2: What are the other businesses Reliance ADAG group have interest in?
Me: Sir, they have varied businesses like Reliance Communication, Reliance Capital which in turn has different subsidiaries like Reliance Life, Reliance Life, etc, then they have Reliance Power, Reliance Energy..
M2: How are Reliance Power and Reliance Energy different?
Me (took a small pause, though and guessed): Sir Reliance Power is into Power production (I should have said Generation) and Reliance Energy into Power transmission and distribution.
Everyone in the panel said, hmm, Power Distribution.. (Teer nishane pe lag gaya ;-))
M2: Name some power plants.
I mentioned Dadri and Roja (run by Reliance) in Shajahanpur. He asked if they are oil based I said no sir they are thermal based. He nodded and said coal.
M2: Where does Oil drilling takes place in India?
Me: Sir mostly in Bombay Offshore region and KG Basin. (I missed to mention Jamnagar, Gujarat.)
Then M1 asked about FDI in Insurance and I answered it is 26% at present however Government is considering it to increase it to 49%. He asked where it is held up and I said, the proposal is stuck at Government level and if the insurance lobby has its way they would like to even extend it to 100%. M1 asked they are part of some kind of reforms, what is it? I replied ‘Fiscal Reforms’
M1: Which foreign co. does Reliance have tie up with?
Me: I replied it’s a 100% Indian venture (By now, I was confused if it’s a Banking interview or an Insurance interview or an Interview with Reliance!)
M1: Does SBI have an Insurance arm?
Me: Yes sir. SBI General Insurance.
M1: Do you know when they started their operations?
Me: Sir in 2010 or may be in mid 2009 (I wasn’t sure about it but knew either of the two is correct as my friends had been recruited by SBI while I was working and that was at the start of their operations)
M1: What advantage does SBI have in starting insurance co.?
Me: I started and was about to mention about the huge customer base that they can get advantage of but I was stopped in between and asked if I know about bancassurance. I replied.
M1 then passed to M3
M3: How many public insurance co. are there?
Me: 4 sir.
M3: Do you know about Reinsurance?
Me: Yes Sir. (I replied)
M3: How many insurance co’s are in profit?
Me: (By this time I was unsure as they were asking from a domain which I have left 3 years back in 2010) After a deep breath I said Im not sure Sir but very few of them.
M1: Are they Old generation or new generation co’s which are making profit?
Me: Sir, while I was working I used to read the statistics about the industry but now I don’t follow it. I am sorry I’m not so sure about it sir.
M1: How long does it take for an insurance co. to start making profits?
Me: I am not so sure sir but as far as I know it takes atleast 5-6 years before one can break even in this industry and sometimes even more.
At this M1 put his hands in his pockets and gestured yes you are right. One really need to have very deep pockets to make profit in insurance industry.
The M1 asked if I’ve heard the name of Lloyds. I replied yes Sir, they are considered to be father of Insurance. He then asked are they Insurance co. or Reinsurance co.. I said Reinsurance (again a guess) and he said yes they are the first reinsurer co. in the world. Then he asked M3 to ask again and he said he’s done.
Over to M4 who gave me a situation
M4: Mayank, you have mentioned you worked in sales also. If you have to market an educational loan of SBI, what would be your detailed plan?
Me: Tried to give Gyaan like approaching educational institutes, print media advertisement, etc. but somehow was not able to convince him. In the hindsight, I think I could have given a lot better plan than this
M3: Do you know the Market share of Reliance general?
Me: I feel it was a trap question and they expected a random 30-35% answer from me. I said Sir I am not too sure about it but Pvt insurers hardly have a market share in General Insurance. Around 60-70% market share is with the Public Insurer and the rest is distributed among other 14-15 pvt insurers. ICICI Lombard and Bajaj Allianz continue to battle out for top 2 slots within pvt insurers and Reliance cannot have a market share of more than 6-8% in the circumstances. He said hmmm…
M3 lastly asked if I know who takes care of the affairs of Insurance industry. I said IRDA.
With that my interview came to close and M1 told me my interview was over and I may go know.
Cheers
Mayank
Thanks mayank ,u have really given a good analysis of your interview. From your interview ,it seems they are going for your past work ex if u have one while if u are fresher then they are going random.
Did they ask you about any previous attempts .I gave SBI PO interview ,during 2012 jan also at delhi .At that time i was just completining my MBA .The question were really gruelling & related to my state mostly .Now i am working in Infosys ,after reading your post it seems i have to now justify why am i leaving infosys & related questions on indian IT sector
Hi Ayushman they didn’t asked me about previus attempts.. It might be probably because I have clearly stated No in my Bio Data form and given details of attempting UPSC exam in the past 2 years. They probably took me for my word and I was lucky they didn’t asked any uncomfortable questions about me leaving job if I get selected in All India Services.
All the best for ur interview..! Do Well!!
Cheers,
Mayank
nice interview
really appreciate you sharing this with us Mr.Nigam
SO
Can anyone help me here???
How do I explain the two years of preparation for civil services???
I have not been doing ANY JOB after my graduation. What do i tell the interview panel??
ANYBODY????
I was apprehensive about it too.. So I thought it better to mention in the Bio Data form in the exams given in the last 3 years.. This way they didn’t asked any question about it.. My interview experience is given above your comment
One more question .There is no system of service certificate in Infosys as such & if I go to HR ,wo to sure se baal ki khaal nikal dega .Hence i am taking one employment proof letter & recent 2 salary slip .Will it suffice ,it worked in National insurance Genralist officer & IBPS
That would suffice Ayushman.. In any case, Experience/service certificate is provided only after you resign from the services.. Doesn’t apply in your case.
Hope this works!
Cheers
Mayank
Hi Ayushman,
I too faced the same issue..and I was told by my BP-HR that there is no policy of issuing any character certificate in Infosys. For employment proof, u can generate a letter from harmony, while for character certificate, u need to rely on the other mediums.
Best of Luck man for ur interview
Hi,
I have recently appeared for the SBI PO interview. Simultaneously , I have been preparing for the civil services since sept 2012 and have appeared in the recently conducted prelims. I expect a positive result and a seat for the mains, but I did not mention anything about appearing for UPSC in my bio-data that was submitted during the interview. My doubt is that IF I am able to clear the mains and get an interview call for UPSC, will I be asked to submit an NOC from SBI (if i get selected for the post of a PO ), and will there be any issue in obtaining an NOC because of the fact that I did not mention it in my biodata?
Please clear my doubts :( (especially senior members who have already appeared for UPSC interview while working in a PSU )
Thanks
I wrote it in the cause for leaving the job it helps in the interview nd d panel understands not every1 can clear d exam so dere is no harm in mention it in bio data

document verification took 4 minutes , the guy who was verifying was friendly , some started filling bio data form after coming there, one guy sat before at verification took 20 minutes for searching documents in his file when asked for a specific document, the guy who was verifying his documents was not happy with him, so prepare in advance and arrange your documents separately , staple each set of photocopies so you can easily produce them when asked, i got my documents verified at first , so i spent the rest of 2 hours reading a interview cracker book i brought with me , later we were given ta ( ticket expenses + out of pocket expenses rs 1000) , i receieved rs2110 , around 1pm we are called for grou disscussion , they made us wait for 15 minutes in the discussion room deliberately for the interview panel to come ,
the document verification room is under observation by cc cameras , i believe we were under observation all the time , not just at gd and interview time
our interview panel came , they told the rules , each guy can talk for 2 minutes , any one can initiate and anybody who is ready with his points can follow up , at the end of first round anybody who feels they have some more points to add can present them at end
TOPIC is imitating western culture affecting our values ,
when each candidate is expressing his views , the interviewers were busy jotting points about each person ,
anybody who are going beyond 2 minutes were stopped by a buzzer , we can conclude even under 2 minutes and say
thank you to indicate completion.
after completion of gd ,we left for lunch, they had given us lunch coupons ,
they asked us come straight back to gd room without loitering around as interview will start soon after lunch ,
my number at gd desk was 13 , total 14 candidates called , one guy was absent ,i waited patiently till my turn came , in the mean time we chatted among ourselves discussing current affairs , my turn came at 5 30 pm ,

thanks for sharing your interview questions Amani.
I had my interview today at the Delhi centre at 8:00 am shift in panel 1.
They are checking the documents meticulously as already been mentioned by many people. So, carry all the prerequisites Photostats and original. After the initial verification our GD started around 10 am. The topic was ”memories of my college or university days”. Each one of us was allowed 3 minutes to speak and anybody could start. After the GD, interview started within 15 minutes. I was the fifth candidate in order so I was called in around 11:40. My interview lasted for around 10-15 minutes.
M1: you have given 3 attempts in civil services. That reminds me of a king who entered a cave and failed to kill the dragon (or something) but when he came outside he saw a spider trying to make his web again and again. So u kept trying. That’s good.
M1: if u visit New York, which museum would you visit?
Me: sir, I don’t know. (after he pushed a little) sir , a wax museum (I knew it was wrong but had to say something)
M1: no. ok what about London?
Me: sir, madame tussauds.
M1:ya, but I am looking for some other name. famous
Me: sir, something related to royal hierarchy of England.
M1:no. okay. Swaminathan, bhatanagar, and _______(sorry I don’t remember the name). what all 3 have common in them?
Me: sir, all three are scientists.
M1: In which field?
Me: sir, swaminathan in agricultural field, bhatnagar in physics but I don’t know about the 3rd person.
M1: then how can u say that 3rd person was a scientist?
Me: sir, u said all three have something common so I related him with the others.
M2: okay ,so u extrapolated. Which branch is extrapolation related to?
Me: mathematics.
M1:okay. Who shifted the capital to tugalaqabad?
Me: sir , mohammad tughlaq(kill me. I don’t know what I was thinking. I confused it with daulatabad).
M1: (smiling). Just because I said tughlaqabad u r guessing that name. anyway, what is perpetual motion device?
Me:sir, device which works continuously without external energy.
M1: is it possible to have such a device in real life?
Me: no sir.
M1: why not?
Me: because sir energy is lost in one or other way so eventually the machine will die out.
M1: which law of physics is related to this?
Me: sir. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It only changes form.
M1: okay.
M2: what is superconductor?
Me: sir, when at extremely low temperature the conductor has almost zero resistance it becomes superconductor.
M2:but u just said that it is not possible to attain perpetual motion device in real life. Don’t u think superconductor is an example of such device?
Me: sir, even superconductors don’t have zero resistance and there is some though minimal loss of energy.
M2: why does energy gets lost?
Me: sir due to friction present when molecules try to move freely.
M2: tell me about entropy?
Me: it is the measure of the degree of disorderliness. When the system is moving towards +ve entropy it will lead to disorder and –ve will lead to order.
M2: how we can achieve –ve entropy?
Me: sir, by aligning the molecules we can attain the state of equilibrium and it will to order and stability of the system. (vague answer. couldn’t think of anything else)
M2: can u give me a real life example?
Me: the army troops moving in rhythm in a parade.
M2: but there will be lot of movement like their hearts beating at different rates etc. think of something else.
Me: sir, this room can be an example if we all leave the room and turn the ac off and plug in all the holes and isolate it completely from external environment. (Again I was lost)
M2: (smiling) but there will be lot of motions going around in the room like movement of air particles etc.
Me: yes sir.
M3: (waiting for so long with a smile) as I can see u r good in science so I am going to shift the topic, u said ur optional was psychology in civil services. Tell me about electra complex.
Me: it is the envy of the girl of her mother and she wants to possess her father. She feels low for not having a penis.
M3: good. What is the difference between illusion, hallucination and delusion?
Me: I explained all three with examples.
M3: good. What is bipolar disorder?
Me: sorry sir I don’t remember it. ( it is related to mood swing. I remembered it when i exited the room).
M4: I will only ask one question.( and that will decide ur fate which is hanging in the air as of now).
What is the current credit rating of India and who gave it?
Me: sir, BBB-. But I don’t remember the name of the organization.
M4: try it.
Me: World Bank I guess. (bilkul bhi dimag mein nahi aya. Screw me. I just got doomed.)
M4: no. it’s S&P.
M4: ok. Thank you. Ur interview is over.
PS: the board members were very friendly and the whole process was done in a very smooth manner.
Overall the experience was great. Mine was an average interview so fingers crossed.
My background: I am from Ghaziabad. I have done my engineering from NSIT, dwarka and passed out in 2010. I am preparing for civil services and currently unemployed.
Hi,
It seems your interview went good. Are they focusing more on science based questions ? My pi is scheduled for tom. Please help.
yaar it’s not necessary. everyone’s interview is going differently.they may ask from ur background, hobbies or financial questions. so be relax and appear with a cool head. anyway the board is very cordial and they will make u feel comfortable.
best of luck!!!
Dear SK thanks for sharing your interview.
why do you want to join banking sector after doing b.tech.
did you prepare for this question?
please provide some nice answer. thanks
can any one tell me till when the result of interview will come of sbi po
they will go till 16 july so when is the expected date till which result may come
i have talked with dgm there. he was quite confident that result will be out between 15-20th august. infact he was saying that the joining will be in september itself.
result will be out by the end of this month , i attended at hyderabad , staff who are verifying documents told me
are you totally sure or there is any doubt in that
and thanks for replying
thanks
Sir, My GD was very good but pi was an average PI. Can i expect a final call from SBI PO 2013. Please reply as soon as possible
can any body guide me… that how should i attempt the exam in order to score well, i am good at papers but i guess i lack time management skill.. can anybody tell me from which section should i start and how much time should i spend and no. of questions to be attempted in each section
attempt english and gk questions first as it will take less time. after that try to do as many questions of quant as possible. and save half and hour for reasoning as it is the most difficult part.
practice a lot from kiran prakashan’s book for sbi po. they have lot of practice papers.
best of luck!!!!
Sir, if any second list for sbi po will be declarred. pls answer. i wasn’t selected in 1st list, examn my exam is well. pls rly sir . also pls tell us the cut off
and one more thing what should be the no of questions attempted in per section… my speed in quant is slow … i am gud in reasoning… soo i first attempt eng and gk in half n hour than reasoning and then quant… but i think that as i attempt quant at last my no. of attempt in quant are decreased by doing so..
ur approach is fine but just change the order of quant and reasoning attempt. quant questions are generally easy and if u r able to finish engish and gk in 45 minutes u can easily finish quant in another 45 min and still be left with half an hour for reasoning. the minimum questions to be attempted are very low- around 10-12. so don’t worry about that.
no idea about second list. cut-off will be declared after the examination process is over.
My GD and Interview was scheduled on 13th of july at SBI Learning Center Thaltej, Ahmedabad.
Document verification was completed for our batch in 30-45 minutes, there were 13 candidates in our batch and 1 didnt turn out for GD and Interview.GD Topic given to us was “Do we need Safe Drinking Water or Coco Cola/FDI”. We were given notebooks and pens to write the ideas and were given approx 2 minutes to think about the topic and before the start of the GD instructions were given to us that anybody can start the GD,It was a more of Extempore, everybody was given 2 minutes to speak(not any specific oredr.I initiated the GD and discussed about the Origin of Coca Cola then about its Indian Entry, Then i began to talk against the Coca Cola I quoted Recent example of Charba village Uttarakhand where Anna Hazare ji was on Anshan against Coco cola,Coke hatao Charba bachao andolan. Then i discussed about these companies using our water sources and then about report on flurosis level in ground water, then being delhite talked about scarcity of water in delhi. Then about instead of coke why we shouldnt develop our indegineous drinks and about their costing of 2 rs. and selling of coke at 10 rs and so on.Later we were given 1 more minute as per our sitting sequence, i talked about CSR, as somebody said that focus must be on how to make coke do more CSR activities, then i said CSR is cunning show off against regulations made by Govt. in sarcastic way, he quoted example of USA and CSR activities done there by coke, I said India dont have that kind of system and stricter regulations in place to make coke do more CSR.
My Interview Experience
I entered the room and greeted all the members, 1 lady and 3 Gentlemen.
M1 So you have done a course in Microfinance from UNCDF, what is UNCDF?

source : one who organized document verification at hyderabad
Thankyou Ajay
I had my interview on 16th July 2010 at Bhopal, 11:00 am onwards. There were 6 people in total out of 11 (Why people remain absent for such an offer is way out of my reasoning.)The document verification went for 1 hour or so & I was grilled why I don’t have a French beard currently while my photograph has one .Anyway apart from this ridiculous reason, the checking was smooth
My GD topic was “Whether MNC are DEVIL in disguise” .It was a fairly good topic & I put forward points like Glocalisation , World class corporate practices like 360 degree feedback & flexible working hours .Also I talked of Indira nooyi etc. . After this in final 3 minutes, there was an argument regarding third class treatment of Indian talent by MNC’s .Everybody put their points again, I asserted that MNC’s are invariably Profit motive institutions & will always look for maximization of profit vs. liability.
After this immediately interview begin .I was second in number .Some questions that I could remember are
You have a very high salary at your current company (I’m getting 45 to 50k in hand at Infosys, currently), which is also your first job then why do you want to leave it?………………I replied about long bench period & global slowdown which may result in pink slip, also about nature of work being more of technical when I was expecting functional roles.
One of them asked me how will I manage to live in tier 2 & 3 cities as I must have been accustomed in tier 1 cities ,is anyone of your relatives is in Bank. Before I could reply, the adjacent interviewer said that Hid father is a bank employee
Then the firing began
What do you mean by God particle ?What does it signify ?Where was It found …….I gave correct answer of all the question except LHC location He replied it is in Geneva
What are the reasons for current degradation of Indian economy? I said that it is more interlinked with global business as a result we are expecting effect ,they were not convinced & said to articulate more specifically .I replied single digit growth in mfg, agriculture being sidelined for tertiary industries ,pace of reforms being slow & service sector being depended upon other sector & global economy .He asked what about inflation ?I said inflation is more or less resulted from above factors only
The question’s shifted ,next one asked me What do u mean by Hedging ?I replied .He asked Name some tools ?I replied Gold in nervousness .He asked What about options ? I corrected myself then by giving correct def of option .He asked what about forwards ,I replied derivative definition by mistake ,however on chided ,I quickly corrected myself & gave correct def of Forwards ,Futures & Derivatives . He asked me then what do u mean by alpha-hedging, I replied in no as I had not studied the term during my MBA-Finance & had no idea.
The next one asked me what you mean by speculation. Is speculation good? I replied that betting should always be used for risk management & not speculation. He asked has RBI took any steps to control it. I replied for next 6 month RBI has put a ban on foreign exchange speculation & derivatives trading
The last ne than asked me what do you mean by Reinsurance ,I replied I cannot recollect .He then asked how many type of insurance are there .I replied Life& Non-life .He then asked in which one will accidental insurance come ,I said that Non-life .After that he said I can go now
Overall the interview was much better than last year SBI .Even if I’m not selected at least I’m satisfied that I was able to make a good participation
I believe ours was the last batch from Bhopal.

i have passed sbi po written, lic aao written, uiic written and denabank credit officer written and the intrvws of sbi po and dena bank have also gone well so m fcng bit problem in selecting the orgn. to work with so kindly guide me mrunal sir.
first of all congratulations for clearing all the examinations. i think sbi po and lic aao are better than dena bank credit officer and uiic respectively. between the two i.e. sbi po and lic aao, i think u should go through the following article posted by mrunal regarding the powers, perks and workload of lic aao and its comparison with sbi po.

i hope this will help solve ur dilemma.
Dear SK thanks for sharing your interview.
“why do you want to join banking sector after doing b.tech.”
did you prepare for this question?
please provide some nice answer. thanks
actually i am preparing for civil services. this is my third attempt. i have appeared for the sbi po because of the good profile and salary. i have not appeared for any other banking exam.
my answer to this question is ” i want to join govt sector as i can make a deeper impact on the society by being a part of the public sector.currently i am preparing for civil services. i have appeared in technical exams but failed so now i am trying for banking job.”
this is a very candid answer. i don’t try to hide anything, in fact i have mentioned it in my sbi form. they have asked me this question in assistant commandant interview in upsc.
so honesty speaking i need a good govt job as of now, but my prime target is civil services. and by the way, the prospects of growth in sbi are great so even if i fail in civil i can easily pursuit a future in the banking sector and i will still have a lot of public dealing.
i hope this satisfies ur query.
you can mention about the other exams u have given. this will not affect ur interview. those people are mature and they understand that unemployed persons fill every form that come up their way.
but if u r working anywhere and want to switch job then u better come up with an explanation. they may even ask questions like” how will ur job experience come handy in our organization?”
i always tell beforehand that i am preparing for civil services and am out of touch with my technical subjects for quite some time. i have given this answer in 2 interviews and though the result is awaited but they seem to have accepted it. so just be honest.
thank you so much….
this really helped me a lot.
i hope i justify myself in my interview.
