Finally, UPSC has declared the result for CSAT-prelim-2013 (for both IAS and IFS). Earlier The result system was= you enter your roll number and the UPSC website would tell you whether you’ve passed or not. But this time, UPSC adopted the desi method (uploaded PDF file that contains big list of roll numbers)
I’m uploading the same PDF files on google docs (because UPSC server will become slow as hell for a few days). click on the following links:
- Result: IAS/IPS/Civil Service candidates: click me to see result (~15000 selected)
- Result: IFS candidates: click me to see result (~1000 selected)
- Forgot roll number?Click me but you’ll need registration id
@Those who didn’t qualify
Try again next year with full strength, rectifying whatever shortcomings you had in your preparation. And if this was your last attempt, then my best wishes for all your future endeavors.
Back in 2010, a lady from Chennai committed suicide for failing in prelims, Even in CSE-2012 a guy from Banglore committed suicide. Please remember that setbacks and success will come but life is more precious than one exam, government job, girlfriend, boyfriend or (temporary) nagging of parents/relatives.
I take the liberty of copy pasting a few paragraphs from Mr.Tirumala’s blogspot:
//Start of copypaste//
When I started (UPSC preparation), I always dreamt about what I would do once I am a civil servant. I failed the first time. That’s when things changed. Thereafter, I was more concerned about how to clear this exam than about what I would do once I become a civil servant. The question as to ‘why’ I wanted to be a civil servant was relegated to some back corner of my mind. It was the exam and it was me. Years rolled by. Until this happened. I was too old for this exam and out of attempts.
(So) I am back in industry. My career is progressing well. Biwi and baby are fine. Life has changed. Priorities have changed. And I am moving on.
The job, the workload, project deadlines, cafeteria, cubicle, bitching about the HR policies and the wait for the next weekend. It’s all there. However, there’s one difference. I had the courage to risk it all. I once did. I lost the bet. And I know that I have the courage to build my dreams once more. Brick by brick, I will build. I believe this is my takeaway from this exam, where I didn’t, ‘qualify’…….I spent a lot of time wondering why I didn’t make it to civil services. I thought I will carry the burden of this failure all my life and will never get over this….That’s not so. I moved on, (and) quite well to my own surprise, I must say. In retrospect it looks so stupid of me to even think that I failed. I now look back with a smile…It must have been fun while it lasted. I now work in the field of aerospace with one of the biggest aeroplane makers in world, and I am proud to be an engineer.

bhai dont loose heart…i know it pains but u got full one year…dont loose focus…..
Dear Asish, B confident. When planning to treck Everest, one should mentally prepare for the consequences. Try and try again until u get success. U go to any CIVILS coaching centre, u may find many candidates trying even decades for clearing CIVILS. Pl think of ur parents and well wishers. I am also live ezample for repeated trails.B confident and all the best for next time.
losers and cowards do that…just ask this to yourself:are you one?…my best wishes for your next attempt, you will surely qualify then.
hey ashish.. so do u mean that whoever did not clear prelims are not fit to live.. I also got the same marks which u mentioned but dint clear.. we dint have that element of luck this year.. Even i too have sacrificed all things in my life.. remember one thing if we cant bear this tough time we are even more not eligible to become a capable IAS officer. Failure must shape us..
With this second failure(last prelims also i was shattered) i feel myself as the strongest person on earth.. So stay cool..
sustaining in competition is important. We like your spirit.
Me too havent made the prelims twice(including this), but shall work even harder to mould luck in my way for the next.
Keep it up. We shall make nxt time.
Congrats for those who qualified.
Hey there,
Dont do that. Think about your parents, siblings and friends. About you future wife, your gf.
Honestly I dont think I scored that many marks but have qualified. Maybe UPSC has used a different key.
good to hear that mate. i salute your will and patience
Uth,baandh kamar, kya rota hai…
Phir dekh prabhu kya karta hai..
Nar, Ho naa nirash karo man ko…
Nar ho, Naa nirash karo man ko…
gud 1..
Ashish Bhai! Please don’t take such hasty decision. Life is better ahead!!! There are many people who have not made it in 4attempts and have made it in 5th,6th even(SC’s) and many general guys too have made it in 3rd and 4th directly. So don’t lose hope. Take time and see to it as to what has gone wrong and note it down so that you dont repeat it. My 1st attempt was a disaster with over enthusiasm. Ashamed to even say the score but I will(20+70). I have literally given up but thought of it again frm august and did a good preparation and have made it this year. So, u also can do it surely. Just concentrate more on the basics like polity, modern history, basic economy, geography and practice more n more papers for CSAT. Do write mocks from atelast one or two institutes wch are gud enough. They help you a lot!!! It worked for me!!! Goodluck!
just simplly think UPSC doesn’t deserve candidate like me.life is very long.Give your best to other options if its ur last attempt or prepare better for next year.
hey, dont say like this.never let the hope.if you dedicated to ur dream.then success is jast a matter of time.
I have written mains last year but missed by some marks. This year I could not clear prelims itself. No matters what I say and what I feel, I have to bounce back. Can’t leave it this way. To all the ones who cleared : Prepare well guys, harness the opportunity, Good Luck and Those like me : Suit up! Got a lot of hard work to do.
Cleared. Score: 91/100 in paper1 and 180/200 in papet 2.
congrats raavi, guide me about your strategy, books especially about 2nd paper.
Abe thoda to kam phenko yaar. 280+ 290+ kuchh bhi mat likho …… Waise hi jinka nahi hua wo marne-maarne ki baate kar rahe hai.
1st round CLEARED.
Expecting 329
Reveal your strategy !
congrats bro.. can u take a minute or 2 for telling ur strategy esp in paper 2.. how could you manage such a high score..really good..:)
give me some tips on paper1 /
Really!! Was expecting 220 – cleared!! Does your mark matter? idiot! Boasting a lot!!
LOLZ….+1
i was expecting 420..din clear coz am too awesome for upsc!
Of course It doesn’t matter because this is not gonna count. Everybody is saying their marks so I just told mine. And there is no shortcut and something, I am expecting 130 in 1st paper and 185 in 2nd paper. @ Neena one of my friend is expecting 150+ in 1st paper. But he panicked(though during college he had 99.5 percentile in CAT but there was no call from IIMA because of his 7.9 CPI so decided to go for UPSC) in second paper but still expecting 100 and got qualified
130+185 does not come to 329…anyways buddy best of luck for mains…see you there.

Please i would like to have suggestion from you please.

people would say one in hand is worth two in the bush

Hi,
This was the same case with me, i came back from onsite and prepared. But seems it was narrow miss from me.
I’ve to keep on moving for next time.
But considering ur options..evaluate them properly, if u want to serve this country u can do by establishing an NGO also with the money earned during onsite.
Yep!..What u said is exactly rite!..Thanks Sushant for your kind suggestion.
Lost my admit card, dont remember the roll no. I ve my registration no. tough, where can i get my roll no. from?
Any suggestions?

Similar case with me man. The suspense and the inability to anything is driving me crazy. Lemme know if you come across anything. Please reach me at akshayjog@gmail.com if you find a way. Guys, please help!!
Siddhanth! Only thing is that u can send in a request, or try filing an rti with all ur details. Hopefully u may get it done. But firstly recheck your paper for score
The link doesn’t work.
Call up Mr. Imran Farid, who is the undersecretary (Exams) at UPSC. Provide him with your Registration ID and Date of Birth, he will give you the roll number. I talked to him yesterday, he noted down my details and when I called him today provided me with my roll number.
