Finally, UPSC has declared the result for CSAT-prelim-2013 (for both IAS and IFS). Earlier The result system was= you enter your roll number and the UPSC website would tell you whether you’ve passed or not. But this time, UPSC adopted the desi method (uploaded PDF file that contains big list of roll numbers)
I’m uploading the same PDF files on google docs (because UPSC server will become slow as hell for a few days). click on the following links:
- Result: IAS/IPS/Civil Service candidates: click me to see result (~15000 selected)
- Result: IFS candidates: click me to see result (~1000 selected)
- Forgot roll number?Click me but you’ll need registration id
@Those who didn’t qualify
Try again next year with full strength, rectifying whatever shortcomings you had in your preparation. And if this was your last attempt, then my best wishes for all your future endeavors.
Back in 2010, a lady from Chennai committed suicide for failing in prelims, Even in CSE-2012 a guy from Banglore committed suicide. Please remember that setbacks and success will come but life is more precious than one exam, government job, girlfriend, boyfriend or (temporary) nagging of parents/relatives.
I take the liberty of copy pasting a few paragraphs from Mr.Tirumala’s blogspot:
//Start of copypaste//
When I started (UPSC preparation), I always dreamt about what I would do once I am a civil servant. I failed the first time. That’s when things changed. Thereafter, I was more concerned about how to clear this exam than about what I would do once I become a civil servant. The question as to ‘why’ I wanted to be a civil servant was relegated to some back corner of my mind. It was the exam and it was me. Years rolled by. Until this happened. I was too old for this exam and out of attempts.
(So) I am back in industry. My career is progressing well. Biwi and baby are fine. Life has changed. Priorities have changed. And I am moving on.
The job, the workload, project deadlines, cafeteria, cubicle, bitching about the HR policies and the wait for the next weekend. It’s all there. However, there’s one difference. I had the courage to risk it all. I once did. I lost the bet. And I know that I have the courage to build my dreams once more. Brick by brick, I will build. I believe this is my takeaway from this exam, where I didn’t, ‘qualify’…….I spent a lot of time wondering why I didn’t make it to civil services. I thought I will carry the burden of this failure all my life and will never get over this….That’s not so. I moved on, (and) quite well to my own surprise, I must say. In retrospect it looks so stupid of me to even think that I failed. I now look back with a smile…It must have been fun while it lasted. I now work in the field of aerospace with one of the biggest aeroplane makers in world, and I am proud to be an engineer.

Hello Mrunal,
Please provide a separate section for donating, selling or borrowing old books/notes – for those Civil Service aspirants who have exhausted their all chances or as the case may be. In that section, aspirants would be able to give their addresses/phone numbers/emails & book/notes list. And those details might be further subdivided according to their States/UTs.
disappointed…..but with promise to myself that i will come back hard next year…. anyways congrats to all those who made it!!!

Bade Bade Tufaan Tham Jate Hai
Jab Aag Lagi Ho Sine Mein
ha ha… ultimate loser!!
GOOD YAR.
One of my friends doesnt remember his hall ticket number. He only has the Registration Id. The link to download the Hall Ticket is also not there. Is there any way, he can know his Hall Ticket Number, by calling on UPSC help line?
The UPSC helpline doesn’t work.
Call up Mr. Imran Farid, who is the undersecretary (Exams) at UPSC. Provide him with your Registration ID and Date of Birth, he will give you the roll number. I talked to him yesterday, he noted down my details and when I called him today provided me with my roll number.
P.S. No more suspense. I cleared the prelims. Studying hard for Mains.
Plz look for my rno 219614
didn’t ,make it
Thanks a lot Mrunal..
lost my admit card but remembered my Roll no. ….cleared …but it is necessary to have admit card ..is it of any use in DAF form..
dont get disheartened guys….this is just an exam..just view life on a wider canvas…and remember this
“If you’re going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don’t even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery–isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only good fight there is.”
― Charles Bukowski
Great words… suits IAS aspirants well
Makes me wonder! Did Charles ever write civil services exam? Well… u never know! :)
sir,
i am preparing for 2014 exam, but speed of preparation is slow as i am a working professional. i have a serious issue abot reading-In 1 hour i am able to read just 4 pages of ramesh singh (tmh economics),its not because my english is weak but some other reason. please people suggest how to increase reading speed.i have read 3-4 novels but still unable to read n understand fast.
take short sprints…20 minutes at a time….then take a walk and think about what you read in those 20 minutes….come back read again…..Do not go on FB or watch youtube during the break…just take a walk..take a tea…and come back…same thing think about all day while u are at work…make sure you prepare your mind about what to read tonight …plan all this while commuting to work…in office too…find out those 10 mins or 15 mins shots….over the it will become part of your thought process….you will start feeling good about it without taking burden…
Instead of reading word to word, try to read a group of words or phrases mentally and comprehend the meaning synchronously. it may take some time. further read stuffs like PHOTO READING.
hey mrunal….thanks for being there always….cudnt make through.. but after reading the inspiring story nd comments of optimistic candidates…. m feeling beter nw…thank u mrunal…god bless u..:)

sir what is this that my marks came out to be near 230 in sc category and the one who was near 200 got selected and i am not. was it an arbitrary answer evaluation??? plz respond…
Hi vijay …with 230 in SC category u will be definitely in…. U might have missed the order of marking the answers in OMR….
same here getting above 240 . . . . . 80 and 160abv not qualified . . . i got different sets for paper 1 and paper 2 nothing to do with that i hope . . . . should try next year
Hey guys dont rely on the keys provided by these institutions. They are full of mistakes. You can only know your marks after upsc releases the authentic key along with cut off
i am getting between 270-280 with different answer keys…still not qualified…thr s somethn fishy here and evn i gt differnt sets of question papers for paper 1 and paper 2
Thanks mrunal Bhai .I cleared it
Got thru prelims…thank you Mrunal… Guide us thru the storm ahead…

This is my last comment to Mrunal’s Blog. I didn’t clear. This was my last attempt
It’s hard to believe that tomorrow onwards i need not to follow Hindu editorials meticulously , need not visit Mrunal’s blog, need not to speculate UPSC question pattern and need not to worry the Changed syllabus. Everything Ended. However thanks Mrunal for sharing that Tirumala’s story.
Bye Mrunal… Take care and keep on inspiring aspirants…
meera
feeling sorry mam…..all the best for your future avenues..
yaar ias is not only the life please explore new avenues…in ur life …it is IMMENSE…. life also can be beautiful..WHEN U R NOT IAS ..
hmm.. i know it.. sure i’ll explore new avenues… Thanks friend
Its very easy to say for me, please dont mind:
“There is one good thing about disasters, You get to start all over again”
Good Luck!!
Ya.. now i can start everything from point zero. I need not worry about the missed out newspapers or left out portions that i dint understand. Now i can begin from the beginning and do everything which i’ve failed to do the previous time. Thanks a lot.
and best of luck to you ma’m…you will succeed in whatever field you choose,my best wishes with you…perhaps your destiny lies somewhere else, for bigger things, greater things..life is too short to mope about things that you cannot change but you know the beautiful thing about life is that there is always hope..never let go this hope,it is what makes life what it is,that is,worth living!
Yeah.. i know those things.. yet.. i lost my hope for a while… I’ll try my best to make a change. Those were soothing words… Thanks friend..
Bye vye mat bolo yaar, ek exam hi to tha nahi hua to kya gum hai…
All i know is..once u go through the prep of this exam..u improve urself immensely.. i have seen many who cant clear it..ended up wid a better place..minting huge money in coaching..some start social service and earn high respect..and that may clear ur way to state assembly and eventually to parliament..bcoz now u have immense knowledge..all u need to do is to continue with the right aptitude..without getting discouraging..
P.S.: I ,myself, a victim of upsc..currently running a coaching center..earning gud enough + imparting education to the needy talented student without charging fee(for inner satisfaction)..
u know I never applied to upsc still I read mrunal for fun, life is all about fun, don’t feel sad, go out with friends watch movies do trekking, eat pani poori, do some painting write a story, learn how to play guitar there are thousands things to do.. :)
aravind kejriwal, Aruna rai and kumar vishvas are serving this nation better after leaving civil services.. so don’t think u can not do anything, just do something which u enjoy the most.. life is the biggest mystery u never know what lies ahead,
do u know Sir C.V. Raman, india’s only Nobel laureate in science, he was rejected in civil services, if he would have become a civil servant we would have lost the finest scientist and only Nobel laureate for India, so do what u like the most enjoy your life. anyway this was my first comment on mrunal, I read his blog because my brother read this.. and I hate competition the most.

It was divided because people always wanted division, telangana was not created by soniya but by the people from andhra, a small group of students from osmania university agitated for the formation of telangana, many did suicide.. these people always wanted telangana… politicians are not so creative people.. they are third rate minds without any special achievements .. they always follow what people ask for. , so do what u like the most enjoy your life. anyway this was my first comment on mrunal, I read his blog because my brother read this.. and I hate competition the most.
@mrunal delete the above comment of mine, i did some copy paste errors.. haha

if u cant clear UPSC pre in 4 attempts u shud better stay away from exam… and all psycho things u r talking abt are fake.. … for instance if u wud have meticulously read hindu u would have cleared in first attempt itself …. i dont know why loosers like to show that they prepared but failed … if u prepare well u can easily score 300+…papers were damn easy…
@loosers stay away
u moron get lost, just reading hindu wont help everything there are other things like csat. u stay away from whom u call as loser cause u are big loser (even if u got through).this shows how jobless u are!
@loosers stay away… don’t be that harsh in your words. since you don’t have an idea about the journey of other aspirants please don’t speak whatever comes to your mind. Forget UPSC take a broader view of life. Don’t you think that person should have some compassion and humility in his behavior and no one asked about your opinion regarding “reading HINDU meticulously will clear the exam”?
I think you need to stay away from ‘yourself’ coz you’re undoubtedly the biggest loser I have come across.
Jackass !!
hey meera no need to worry. Life has got something even better than ias for you. And always remember what swami vivekananda used to say-i am indeed the best or least better than many but i am never the worst.
Hi Meera, u must be proud of urself fr having completed the journey when there are hundreds who give up on the way…u have fought hard till the end .. congrats for that :) There are a million things waiting fr u and Good luck fr a whole new journey :)
Mrunal bhai….I have done it this time.. thanks a lot… thanks …..
