Finally, UPSC has declared the result for CSAT-prelim-2013 (for both IAS and IFS). Earlier The result system was= you enter your roll number and the UPSC website would tell you whether you’ve passed or not. But this time, UPSC adopted the desi method (uploaded PDF file that contains big list of roll numbers)
I’m uploading the same PDF files on google docs (because UPSC server will become slow as hell for a few days). click on the following links:
- Result: IAS/IPS/Civil Service candidates: click me to see result (~15000 selected)
- Result: IFS candidates: click me to see result (~1000 selected)
- Forgot roll number?Click me but you’ll need registration id
@Those who didn’t qualify
Try again next year with full strength, rectifying whatever shortcomings you had in your preparation. And if this was your last attempt, then my best wishes for all your future endeavors.
Back in 2010, a lady from Chennai committed suicide for failing in prelims, Even in CSE-2012 a guy from Banglore committed suicide. Please remember that setbacks and success will come but life is more precious than one exam, government job, girlfriend, boyfriend or (temporary) nagging of parents/relatives.
I take the liberty of copy pasting a few paragraphs from Mr.Tirumala’s blogspot:
//Start of copypaste//
When I started (UPSC preparation), I always dreamt about what I would do once I am a civil servant. I failed the first time. That’s when things changed. Thereafter, I was more concerned about how to clear this exam than about what I would do once I become a civil servant. The question as to ‘why’ I wanted to be a civil servant was relegated to some back corner of my mind. It was the exam and it was me. Years rolled by. Until this happened. I was too old for this exam and out of attempts.
(So) I am back in industry. My career is progressing well. Biwi and baby are fine. Life has changed. Priorities have changed. And I am moving on.
The job, the workload, project deadlines, cafeteria, cubicle, bitching about the HR policies and the wait for the next weekend. It’s all there. However, there’s one difference. I had the courage to risk it all. I once did. I lost the bet. And I know that I have the courage to build my dreams once more. Brick by brick, I will build. I believe this is my takeaway from this exam, where I didn’t, ‘qualify’…….I spent a lot of time wondering why I didn’t make it to civil services. I thought I will carry the burden of this failure all my life and will never get over this….That’s not so. I moved on, (and) quite well to my own surprise, I must say. In retrospect it looks so stupid of me to even think that I failed. I now look back with a smile…It must have been fun while it lasted. I now work in the field of aerospace with one of the biggest aeroplane makers in world, and I am proud to be an engineer.

By the way, Result of Roll Nos.290376, 722998 and 783890 have been withheld on Court direction.

Hello Friends, It was my first attempt. And I got disqualified. I was expecting 220+. I am writing this for all those who couldnt make it this time. Plz dont regret if u have made more than 210 because +/- 20 marks variation will always be there. So practically there is no difference between those who cleared n who didnt with gap of 20 marks. Secondly we are the future of India and bloody UPSC can not deny this fact by disqualifying us. And even we had seen the AUKAAT of coward UPSC which can not withstand the pressure of politicians and regressed it pattern changes. So all in all I want to say plz dont let your caliber be assessed by foolish upsc. Be confident .. be a man.. mard…and kick the sticky ass of upsc… it will relieve you for sure… And start a new fresh day… Remember ……All is well…….
Try to be practical idealist
got selected, this is my last chance, now have the tougher part of it, thanks mrunal for your excellent guidance for working people like us
Hi,
It was my last attempt and again result is negative the 1st one in 2012 n couldn’t qualify but my marks was appreciable (203-GEN). Graduated from IIT-Roorkee and was doing research in Helsinki, Finland. But at the mean time I started to dig the differences between developing and developed one and root cause of exploitation and read many books based on India and I found I feel happy “a NASHA” compared to my research life alone in lab with machine and microorganism so I thought I should listen my heart and came back started to prepare for civil services but now I don’t have ticket for mains and my age restricts me for the next year.
But now I have so many read things in my armature like DD BASU’s book on constitution, got interacted with so many social n administrative scientst thinking on society and administration (public adm.), 2 year yojna, kurushetra, frontline, the Hindu, India’s and world History, economy, geography and these arrow give me sail your life wherever you want :-). these global thinking I have earned and also registered for MPA from IGNOU in the same flow of “nasha” and after clearing it would like to join research in the field of policy science either in India or IDS Sussex, UK or any where in the world till that time have GATE Score-98.5 and have all the qualification to join as analyst in any NGO or R&D wing of policy science. Being IAS was one way to serve my interest but there are many ways also:-)
Congratulations to all qualified one and good luck for everyone.
thank you all guys my family who once told me don’t know y u r coming back even u r paid higher than IAS salary:-)(they have parent’s heart) but still they were stick with my interest.
love you all n try to make change in progressive way!!!!!!!!
hi oneonone,
please elaborate more on the route u wish to choose through mpa of ignou.. how to do it and how to get into an analysts role after that mpa.. kind of you.. thanks..
it’s give me great pleasure to read ur’s comment….it’s really important to thank you bcz it’s ur greatness despite of not making yo feel so….i wish you would ……….anyway ur’s true work not go unrewarding….i wish your future endeavour(to go research in polity) lead you to upsc bench(interview panel) who judge who r appropriate ……
wish u all the best for future endeavour in all area of life!!!!!!!
you are really great source of inspiration….
If you want to give away your books…I would be happy to take them…I was also graduated from Roorkee Dept of Biotec…I think we have have something in common…
That’s the spirit ! By the way – Graduated from IITR and doing research on Microorganisms? Which branch are you from ? (Just a question which popped up in my mind :) ) .. Anyways.. excellent achievements! All the best for your future :)
U gotta be kidding …
I was expecting 204 marks but didnt qualified.this was my 2nd attempt.will try hard again. and to all my friends who didnt qualified. this is just an exam.nothing more than that.try with full strength again. and those having no attempts left ias is not the end of life. gandhiji wanted to become a teacher but didnt got the job.if he had got that job then no one must be knowing hom today.
i think UPSC has followed sectional cutoff approach…..it was published in hindustan(hindi) news paper few days
after exam my brother informed me but i ignored……..
No way, there is no sectional cut-off as the initial reports are to be believed
upsc will release cut off marks, individual marks and answer keys in may 2014 or so.
I always feel that the real competiton is not with the people who are giving their first attempt but with the people who have failed in previous years…:)
U always get inspired from not success stories but the failures (struggle) behind those success….:)
There are first timers as well who will give you a GOOD run for your money…..!!
On the contrary i think first timer’s have the highest probability of clearing IAS !!
Just what a “FIRST TIMER” think !!! :)
cracked prelims.. never thought i would write civil services mains.. guess its a dream coming true.. :)
Picture abhi Baaki he mere Dost :) Lage raho
Congratulations ! Wish you all the very best for the mains and the interviews. Its not a dream rather its your hard work that’s has started paying off. Hope to see you as a fine IAS officer soon :) Although I couldn’t make it this time, may be luck because I was sure of clearing, but would try more harder next time, which might not need luck then. :)
ty.. and good luck to you too.. :) :) :D
there was a news in hindustan (hindi)newspaper regarding sectional cutoff approach that upsc is going to adopt…..
hey khushi…
maine bhi aisa suna tha…that upsc will consider some criteria in paper-1…as qualifying then paper -2 will be evaluate,,as lot f candidate do not a gud in p-1…but p-2 ki watt laga dete hain!!!
but i hv read in newspaper of july 2013…..
yaa…agree with u….
Behind every successful story there are many failures…:)
dear frnzs…
best of luck to selected as well as non selected…we all are sure that ”kal fir se ek naya suraj hoga , kal fir se ek naya din hoga…raahi tha raahi hun,,mujhe to har dagar par chalna hoga!!!!!
Cleared! Was expecting 260+.
On perusal of the comments made above, I believe the cut-off to be around 225-230.
Congratulations to all who cleared. And for those who couldn’t, don’t lose hope is the moral of the story. Aim to score 150+ in paper II and 100-110 in paper I next time. (To be sure, assuming that questions will on a similar pattern).
Good Luck Everyone (including me)!
