What to prepare for interview?

so just go through them to get a feel of how the interview goes. Note: every page contains 50 comments and interview experience sharing starts from comment page number 5.
Some tips (from those comments)
- 60% on your biodata. (Why do you want to join IB? Educational background, terminology, hobbies)
- 30% on current issue (mostly national and regional. + some current related to neighboring countries from IB/security/terrorism angle.)
- 10% intelligence system of India.
- If you are not fluent in English practice it, as sometimes panel member may insist that you answer a particular question in english.
- For some people it was for 5 mins and for some it went upto 20 mins.
- In the panel, one member will be observing you and taking notes.

After Interview : if you are selected , Medical Test and Police Verification follows.
Documents to bring in interview
- Original certificates in support of age, educational
- qualifications (Matriculation onwards including mark sheets), other qualifications along with an attested photocopy of each of the documents;
- Original certificate in support of belonging to
- OBC/SC/ST/Ex-serviceman/J&K resident category issued from the competent authority in the prescribed proforma along with an attested photocopy thereof;
- Original certificates in support of claimed achievements in Sports/Games and other extracurricular activities along with an attested photocopy of each of the documents.
- A photo identity proof like voter ID card, PAN card, passport, driving license or any other valid proof to verify his/her identity.
- Candidates belonging to OBC category and claiming benefits thereunder must bring their OBC certificate in the proforma meant for appointment to the posts under Government of India as published in the advertisement (copy enclosed) and not for State Government jobs. If they fail to do so, they will not be allowed to appear in the interview. Certificate in any other proforma will not be accepted in any case.
- One copy each of Attestation Forms (A.F.) and Special Security Questionnaire (SSQ) may also be downloaded which are required to be filled in by the candidate for carrying out Character & Antecedents verification wherever required. These forms may please be filled in for all the columns correctly and completely and in case the space provided in any of the column is not sufficient for furnishing the information sought, the candidate can utilize an extra sheet. This is, however, made clear that issuance and filling up of the attestation form (AF) and SSQ at this stage does not mean that the candidate has been or would be necessarily selected to the post of ACIO-II/Exe. The duly filled in AF and SSQ forms are required to be deposited by the candidate on the day of interview.
- The candidate is advised to bring this interview letter without which he/she would not be allowed entry. It may be made clear that no request for change of date and place would be entertained.

brother or sister i would suggest from the bottom of my heart that you should not consider ACIO as there is no scope of promotion or better facilities as the candidate expect from the job. so go for nicl PLEASE

The last batch of 2012 will begin their training from 21st April and it will go on till 21st June in Shivpuri.The 1st batch of 2013 might be called from the 1st week of July if IB is swift in its process.It’s not compulsory that you will be called in the 1st batch itself…you have a 16.5% chance of getting a call for 1st batch.If you are not called in the 1st batch then you will be safe and you can stay at your home for Mains preparation.And suppose you are shortlisted for 1st batch then you will get a leave to appear in the exam but you might not get any time to study during the training period.

Some earlier recruits said it is possible to get an extension under certain circumstances. I am not sure though, you should try calling the helpline no.

frnd, IB will send call letters after election means in June or July.

to answer some queries
1. delay — happened because our honourable HM was busy with elections and couldn’t be bothered to sign off on the files.
2. the helpline guy doesn’t really know much, he is MHA, not IB.
3. yes you can ask for different training batch, by providing genuine reasons e,g medical problem
4. CSD – IB has its own canteens in a couple of places, more will be created. you are also eligible for all CPF canteens i.e those of SSB ITBP CRPF etc
5. if you want time for preparing ACIO >> PO job. except the training period you will get enough time. pls read my earlier comments on this issue. salary is more as well.

Fighterclass sir, please tell me the kind of exercises we are made to do while in training. I have a herniated disc and I have been advised not to bend/stretch/carry weight. Does the exercises involve carrying any kind of weight? I need to know this before I join sir, if there are, I cannot risk permanently injuring my back. So this is a deal-breaker for me which will change the course of my career.

Hey fighterclass. I have a few queries Sir.
1. I’ve recently been diagnosed with a Slipped disc and I’ve been in the hospital for more than 15 days now. But the good news is that I will most probably be fine in a couple of months. I was wondering how the physical exercises during the training period are? I can jog but I may not be able to do the bending/stretching exercises. So can you give a rough idea of how a typical day during the training period is, with regard to physical training? Do the instructors go easy on you or are they strict?
2. What is the time gap between the first training in shivpuri and the next in Delhi? Are we allowed to go home in between or is it continuous?
3. How is the department when it comes to granting leaves? Can you take an extended leave of 1-2 years to study for the civil services exams?
4. If we are posted in a far away place from home, how many leaves /visits are allowed in a year?
5. What accommodation is given in the start? Or do we have to find a place to stay ourselves? Also, what is the size of the alloted accommodation? Is it enough for the family? (A wife and 1 kid)
1. can’t go into details of training but instructors will push you to your absolute limits. better to recover a bit more before joining

4. usual sarkari leaves + journey time (which can be substantial)
5. in remote areas you are given acco. for family posts among these you’ll get good 2bhk or larger. definitely enough for family. you will also have TV/set top box/phone/cook etc paid for by dept.
in cities you might have to arrange for yourself if dept is not able to arrange quarters.
Thank you sir. Is there a preference order for desired locations to be alloted to us after training? Like the cadre preference for IAS/IPS etc. With the number of IB recruitment increasing over the last few years, is there a chance to get your first posting in your home state? Because I’m a South Indian, and my spouse may find it difficult to adjust in the north as she does not know Hindi.
posting is decided by IB HQ. dont expect home posting.
language is a problem you have to overcome. northies are posted in deep south (in places where people dont know hindi) and southies are posted in north, it’s a bit difficult but it’s your country no ?
you will adjust in no time.

govind, mostly at state capitals. might have to go on tour to remote areas on assignments though.

Thanks for coming back Mr fighterclass. I have a few questions I want to ask.
1) I wear specs but visual acuity in one of my eyes remains 6/18 even after glasses and the other one is fine. Medical term is Amblyopia, I was wondering if its something I should be worry about. I am having my LASIK done in a few weeks and my glasses will come off but the weak eye may remain at 6/18 or 6/12.
2) Can you please tell us something about training other than what you have already said. Or if you can suggest something we should do while we wait that may help during or after training.
3) What are the best and worst job profile we can expect after training? I understand if you don’t want to answer this one.
4) Finally any pitfalls you may want to warn us about or something you wish you could have done differently in your case.
I have little interest in UPSC/SSC and I am looking forward to be a part of IB. Thanks once again.

3. as long as you haven’t linked your real-life identity to dept.
4. yes, they will ask for all edu records.
5. by paygrade it’s SI but that should change. in reality your rank doesn’t matter outside dept. the name of your dept suffices.

1.Sir, please can you tell me if there is any strict rule that no mobiles are allowed/permitted during training period ? (Nokia C1-02 to be more specific, it doesnt have camera, but has memory card & bluetooth – as this is the mobile am using currently) – or is there any strict rule that no mobiles are allowed whether non-camera or not ? in order to stay in touch with family during training.
2. Sir, can u pls tell me how much time may be there from the date of receiving the call letter to the date of reporting for training ? am asking coz am currently working in an IT concern and have to serve 2months notice period when i resign, would be helpful to plan in advance.
3. Any pointers from your side wrt to things to keep in mind while reporting for training & during training or any useful info in general would be much appreciated apart from those provided previously

done my verfication today. But i m in serious trouble. The person(in plain clothes nd said he is police)
asked for rs 500 for sweets. I said I donot have presently nd will give him after joining.
I had 2 photocopies of interview and SSQ form, which I had brought with me for interview, as advised by people here .
He said it is breach of security nd a case could be filed.
I did nt give him money nd he kept photocopies with him.
What to expect. even if he rejects in verification, can he cause trouble for me in other govt exams like Civil Services.

No it is not,they can be a little forgiving in some areas but such major defects are not allowed.

Heyy due to some reason I have changed my address. Shouldnt they call to verify the person in case person is not found at the address mentioned in application….If there is any rationality the person must be given chance to explain the reason for change of address

it varies from where you are posted to your aptitude. there are lady officers who have cracked some of the most high profile terrorist arrests of recent times and then there are those who just spend time at a desk typing away.

verification is their responsibility not yours. dont worry.
