#1: MH 370 & Anti-hijacking Policy in India
- 8th March 2014: A Passenger flight of Malaysian Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared.
- you can read all conspiracy theories on Dailymail click me
- Let’s focus on two MCQ worthy topics
Transponder
- Transponder = device on airplane. It reports an aircraft’s altitude, speed, direction etc. to ground controllers and nearby aircraft.
- also, Helps radar to detect the plane.
- When plane is on ground, the staff can turn it off. (to prevent wrong signal confusions.)
- But MH-370’s transponder was turned off whil it was in air. => someone had hijacked it and perhaps wanted to use it as plane-missile like in 9/11 attack.
Infrasound
- Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation(CTBTO) = HQ Vienna.
- It monitors infrasounds to detect nuclear explosions.
- If a large plane had crashed, their infrasonic sensors would have detected it as well.
- by the way, Infrasound is produced by both
| Natural Sources | Man Made Sources |
|---|---|
|
|
- Infrasound are Low frequency sounds (<20Hz) =travel farther than high frequency sounds = ideal for long distance communication.
Anyways, India has deployed INS Saryu, INS Kumbhir and INS Kesari + two Dornier aircrafts to search MH-370 wreckage.
India’s Policy against Hijacking (2005)
(topic becomes important given the MH-370 Development)
- Hijacked plane can be shot down, IF there is evidence that
- it’ll be used for 9/11 like attack.
- it is carrying weapons of mass destruction.
- The decision to shoot down the plane will be taken by panel of PM, Defence minister and a high ranking IAF officer.
- If plane is high-jacked on Indian soil, the security agency can prevent its take off.
- NO negotiations with hijackers on their demands.
- If at all talks are started- it’ll be for preventing loss of life or ending the incident.
- Hijacking = act of terror. Death penalty for hijackers.
Other than that:
- International convention on Anti-Hijacking: Tokyo, Hague, Montreal.
- India made Anti-high-jacking act, 1982 – too old. New bill made in 2010- but pending.
#2: Tourist visa on arrival
| 2010 | scheme started for five countries |
| 2011 | six more added |

But why should India give Visa on Arrival?

Thank u sir..please explain Russia crisis
Yes, murnal sir please give us brief info about Russia Crisis.
Saira firstly it is nor Russia Crisis rather it is Ukraine Crisis. I’ll try to explain it in a comprehensive manner, hope you are following the newspaper. The crisis started with the announcement of VY(Ousted President Viktor Yanukovych) to cancel deal with EU & moving closer to Russia(it was providing them with $15B in aid + oil & energy). as a result public was outraged (european sense of freedom as against state repression in Russia.) the issue was local, infact very local but gained prominence(courtesy Western Media). Global power play took the centrestage. Now the demand for joining russia in Crimea gained momentum, though it was the only province of Ukraine to have autonomous status & everything that goes into the word autonomous. around 60% of its population is of Russian origin. Russia on its side maintains Black Sea Fleet in the port city of Crimea(Sevastopol) to gain access to Mediterreanean & thus to world trade. The incumbent govt. had announced to cancel this agreement with Russia. thus blockage for Russia. also on the northern side the west was gaining prominence by surrounding Russia in Baltic – both on sea & land. Russia encirlced from European side. so to safeguard its interests it also allowed to escalate the crisis & finally led to joining of Crimea with Russia. The sanctions though have been introduced – sealing accounts of some Russian & Pro Russian Ukraine ministers. But Russia provides energy to the most of European nations including Germany (the silent leader of EU). so not much effect. any further escalation of tension especially by Russia(Unification for Eastern Ukraine, & expansionitst moves in the Baltics or around Caspian Sea.) could invite severe sanctions though. thats it. hope i was able to help you with this.
Thank you Tahir.

Sorry for the trouble.I thought pib maintained a separate page for archives and hence I was looking for a separate archives section on pib website.
And it turns out that pib did used to maintain a separate page for archives,a very old website which still displays a notification of being updated(it said 20 march 2014).
Any ways I figured out that the report on Ghadar march was attached to a release.

Mrunal sir, I think VVPAT generates candidates serial number and not voters as mentioned here , or the purpose of secret balloting is lost.

The effort which Mrunal sir puts in is unfathomable, but some aspirants don’t even clarify their doubts first on Google before posting it on this site. Still at times Sir takes out time to answer those. You must have Gandhian values at your core to be so generous. Respect.
