Prologue to six part Article series
Total six parts covering December 2013 to 8th June 2014- nearly six months that is the usual time span for current affairs most competitive exams below UPSC Civil service exam.
- [PIN-2014] Part 1/6: National- Official Posts, Committees, Stamps-2014, Defense, Telengana & more
- [PIN-2014] Part 2/6: International- Presidents, Prime ministers, Summits, bodies & Ukraine Crisis

- [PIN-2014] Part 6/6: Diaspora, Civilian awards & Dead in News, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, Padma 2014, Able Prize & more
Useful for?
- IFoS mains
- security jobs: CDS, CAPF, ACIO
- Banking jobs: IBPS, SBI PO, SBI Clerk, RBI Grade “B” Officer, RBI Assistant,
- Staff selection: SSC CGL, SSC 10+2;
- State PSC: UPPSC Lower & upper subordinate, Rajasthan, MP, Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat, Karnataka etc.
- PSU/Corporation jobs: EPFO, ESCI, FCI, ONGC etc.
All of above exams have 3-5-8 MCQs from Person in news, books, author, awards and sports.
What about UPSC/CSAT / preliminary exam?
- This article series is pretty much useless for Civil service (IAS/IPS), they stopped this variety of MCQs since last three prelims.
- Besides even if UPSC examiner asks something, it’d require far deeper coverage of static background, which I’ve ignored for PIN-2014, because here my focus is non-UPSC exams, their examiners don’t go that deep.
- PIN data asked in IFoS (Forest service) Mains exam, hence important.
- For IFoS prelims not much important, because both civil service and forest service got common prelims (refer to point #2)
Any updates, corrections please do post in the comments but with reference except wikipedia

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/mukul-rohatgi-appointed-attorney-general/article6107631.ece
in the first comment didn’t mentioned the link….
sir i have little confusion over creation of Andhra pradesh year, a/c to ur article : Andhra Pradesh was formed in 1956 under state reorganization act, 1956 & as per M. Laxmikanth ( ch 5 pge 5.3) – in oct 1953 the govt. of India was forced to create the first linguistic state known as Andhra state .
plz clarify.it shud be 1953 or 1956..
–>1953 , the state of Andhra (not Andhra Pradesh) was created by carving out telugu speaking region of erstwhile MADRAS State .
Capital – Kurnool .
–>1956 , Andhra pradesh was formed by merging some part of telangana region(which was not part of andhra state created in1953) .
Capital Hyderabad.
–>2014, telengana region is again separated from andhra pradesh.. Capital – Hyderabad.
Additional :
Andhra was first state created in india on the basis of linguistics . Potti Sriramalu is a prominent leader …
1st cm of andhra – TA Prakasham
1st cm of andhra pradesh – Neelam Sanjiva Reddy
1at cm of telangana – chandrasekar rao
thanx Hari…thanx a lot !!
Can anybody tell me a good online test series for RBI Grade B ?

Mos works under the minister and is second in command, however mos independent charge is commanding the concerned ministry himself.
if Mos independent charge commands independently , will thr not be conflict b/t Mos(ind) and min???
Dear Mrunal Sir
A small correction! As per as news reports released in October 2013, it is Seemandhra and not Telengana that is to get IIT/IIM /AIIMS and all other sops from Central Govt which may even include a special category status. These sops have been wrongly put under Telangana head in your article.
corrected. thanks Projonto.
Telangana 29 th state. in that tourism u mentioned about chitrakoot falls. Chitrakoot Waterfalls The Chitrakoot Falls (alternative spelling Chitrakut) is a waterfall located near Jagdalpur, in Bastar district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .Chitrakoot falls are located in the middle of Vindhya ranges. The waterfall is formed by the Indravati River in Chattisgarh region which is a tributary of Narmada
Thank u for your interest in making it.
Itanagar(capital of AP) is the 3rd N-E capital to get railway connection after Guwahati (Assam) & Agartala (Tripura)….Check railways portal.
mrunal,
In north east there are three state that have connectivity to its capital, one is Assam and second is tripura (Agartala) and third is Arunachal Pradesh (up to Naharlagun, that is 15 km far away from Itanagar). Except Meghalaya ( sikkim also) every states of North Eastern India has connectivity with rail network.
anybady tell me where i found arc report properly
Mrunal Ji I like to propose small additions to Telangana State Formation Part
The name of Andhra Pradesh will continue with the residuary part and Hyderabad will be come capital for both for 10 years.
In historic places add Bradrachalam for Telangana, moreover it also involves a controversy becoz 20 villages near Polavaram have been added to AP and the famous Rama temple to Telangana

Dear,Mrunal everything is awesome. But I request you to index all articles in monthly wise manner, like we used to have in earlier theme. Now I have to dig number wise and that is pretty cumbersome, please arrange articles how they were posted month wise,so that we can refer from the month we want.
I also request Mrunal to arrange the articles in a manner that will help us to locate and navigate between articles and sections/subjects easily.
Sometime I find articles posted in previous years very useful. Some kind of structuring/indexing which cover all the articles written so far should be helpful.
kargil victory day is on 26th july not on 26 june….

Any one know what happened to Andhra pradesh legislative council after bifurcation and special category given under article 371d,e
Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council was also bifurcated in to two – one for Telangana & Other for Andhra Pradesh. The seats were also appropriated accordingly. This is explicitly provided in the part 2 of 3rd schedule of the andhra pradesh reorganisation act, 2014
Regarding Art. 371-D, It was also amended as per the schedule 97 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation act
P.S. : Link for the bill – http://www.prsindia.org/uploads/media/Telangana/Telangana%20Bill%20as%20passed%20by%20LS.pdf
so, in all we have 7 legislative councils in our nation, RIGHT?
that include telangana?
@aditi,
Yes, presently, there are 7 legislative councils in india which includes Telangana Legislative Council.
Its first meeting was also held recently after summoning of 1st assembly of Telangana.
