Prologue
- From the list of questions shared by our readers cum RBI-assistant candidate, this list and analysis is prepared for the benefit of future aspirants.
- Credit: readers of Mrunal.org for sharing the question list in comments. And Ankiit Srivastava for compiling those comments.
- Note: some of the maths-reasoning-English questions given in this article- they were not verbatim asked in the exam but given here for illustration/demo. For example comprehension- since no one can recall entire passage from the exam, so we’ve to create demo question of similar level.
- For more insights, read comments posted below this article.
Section1: General Awareness
- Total 40 questions. They call it “General” awareness, but I would call it “Trivial-GK” awareness- because you’ll find truckloads of foolish questions about some exact figures in crores allotted to xyz scheme or about the venue where 3rd test between India & England in 2014 test series held and so on.
- But, if you want the job, you’ve to prepare. Question is how to proceed for next year’s RBI assistant exam?

General awareness
————————-
Economy: fiscal deficit number, FATCA, SEBI act enacted when? What is the currency of Iran? Crony capitalism.
They asked trivial questions from budget like how many new AIIMS will open? where will new IIMs open? how much %money allotted for this and that? when will Government give houses to everyone etc.
Banking: Credit card penalty guidlines, RTGS
Books: who wrote TheGuide?
Movie Awards: who won Oscar for best supporting actress? [Lupita Nyong]; Which actress won filmfare [Dipika]
Sports: Gopi Chanda is associated with which game? Name of the recently retired S.African player? some other relatively unknown boxing kabbadi type sports players also asked….i just skipped it. and Mrunalbhai was right in his PIN-2014 series- they asked who defeated whom in tennis- type question? lekin itnaa kon yaad rkh skta hai. i simply skipped it as well.
Leaders: name of the defense, water resource, law ministers; name of CBI chief?
Places in news: Ebola countries, Tawang, Mettur dam, Kuchipudi dance from which state, Kamapal capital city, Varansi river ghat etc.
overall I would say GA=budget and PIN type questions.
English
———
RC was easy. Yes they asked setence correction and even spelling correction and cloze tests.
yes they asked setence arrangement question but nothing difficult for a person accomosted to SSC CGL.
Maths/DI
————
the typical simplification type questions seen in Bank clerk exams. If you’ve good practice it was a piece of cake.
They also routine stuff from speed time distance work; simple compound interest rate
many questions number system based puzzle type. replace this digit with that and subtract blah blah blah..
Overall compared to RBI Officer’s maths section which was almost CAT-level atleast for me, this was relatively easy.
Reasoning
————–
Yes they asked circular sitting arrangement, blood relation- total about 10 questions.
Many questions on that number-symbol-analogy type. if you solve RS agrawal then nothing difficult.
direction setence test- North mein gaya fir west mein gayaa..nothing difficult. about 2-3 questions all correct.
Hell they even asked syllogism and data-sufficiency. I thought those type of questions were reserved only for PO level exams :( Maine toh prepare hi nai kiya thaa, had to leave it because didnot want to break my speed.
Computer
————
binaa padhke bi solve kar sakte ho.
MS-exel, Full forms of LAN, CPU, bluetooth functions and other simple questions.
Was there any question of data interpretation????
yes, there was one question(4 or 5parts) of DI.
Yes there were 5 question on DI based on % increase from one year to another, ration, % and Average.
no any problem on DI
Thank you Mehul for sharing your precious exam experience with us.

I sat in the morning session today, I think in GA the story was more or less same ,areas touched were same and the questions framed were different, as was evident, it was ibps’ bid to look different. English section was easy as has been pointed out,Maths though could be cakewalk for some ,but given the constraint sectional cutoff, I think this section should be done with as early as possible , just to save those extra seconds for other sections’ relatively easy questions, as of course they have high cost effectiveness . reasoning section too was comparatively tough but not too much , except to one puzzle I don’t think anything tough was there, and last but not the least computer -for a serious player there was no need to even look at material for preparation. that’s all I have.good luck for next batch.

this was my first encounter with this exam.. before this I used to take pride in my General awareness but today i could not perform well in that section.. they were extremely factual and many questions were such that you had to remember the numerical values- like how much fine SC ordered DLF to pay?
Nila this has happened with almost everyone. Afterall, who has time to prepare all such trivial details?
yes Nila.. It happened wid me also… I hadn’t crammed data n so felt d heat…,,,done 144 ,…. n in GA fared badly…
