Prologue
- From the list of questions shared by our readers cum RBI-assistant candidate, this list and analysis is prepared for the benefit of future aspirants.
- Credit: readers of Mrunal.org for sharing the question list in comments. And Ankiit Srivastava for compiling those comments.
- Note: some of the maths-reasoning-English questions given in this article- they were not verbatim asked in the exam but given here for illustration/demo. For example comprehension- since no one can recall entire passage from the exam, so we’ve to create demo question of similar level.
- For more insights, read comments posted below this article.
Section1: General Awareness
- Total 40 questions. They call it “General” awareness, but I would call it “Trivial-GK” awareness- because you’ll find truckloads of foolish questions about some exact figures in crores allotted to xyz scheme or about the venue where 3rd test between India & England in 2014 test series held and so on.
- But, if you want the job, you’ve to prepare. Question is how to proceed for next year’s RBI assistant exam?

Questions from english and computers are very easy. In computers they are giving formulas in microsft excel and asking what will happen if this formula enters. Also questions on memory part, what is firewall, conversion of memory from bytes to mega bytes and tera bytes, abbreviations like WAN, questions on ascii, what is phishing, waht is ctrl+b, what is the function of ctrl+z, what is internet explorer.. etc etc etc
Both logical reasoning and quant are reasonable level unlike SBI po and RBI grade B. In quant simplification questions are very easy so don miss them and try to attempt series
based questions in the last if u hav time otherwise they are killing much of our time and questions on time, distance speed, profit and loss, ratio and proportion are easy but lenghty.
There is one DI and atleast 4 to 5 questions are askin from it and it is very resonable level.
I have attempted 155 questions ( gen awareness- 24, computers- 34, english-40, logical resoning- 40, quant- 17 )
i hope this will be helpful for those who are goin to give exam… all the best…
Folks I attended the evening session on 24th of September. I m from Assam. So here is my review for the test that I took..
1. I did Computer section first…very basic but yeah few questions were on networking (also some odd questions like full form of CRM- customer relationship management). PS if you have the Mahindra’s release of computer awareness go through it..I went through it and I got 34 common questions from it. I did 37 questions from this section with 98% accuracy.
2. General Awareness- Easy. Many questions were from the Budget. I attempted 34 with 100% accuracy.
3 English- Easy- piece of cake. If you have gone through the Bakshi books that Mrunal Sir has suggested in his posts..you will score like a king! I attempted 38 with 100% accuracy.
4. Reasoning- Moderate to easy. Circular arrangement, Inequalities, Family tree, syllogism ( 2 statement by the way UP-UN method simply the best..but because of over confidence I forgot the table which mrunal sir asked to mug up. So i attempted only 3 out of 5 questions from the syllogism part. Please don’t commit the same mistake that I did and revise the method thoroughly. ) I attempted 29 questions with 100% accuracy.
5. Quant section_- Well I found this section a bit tricky. To my utter dismay as far as my observation 24th evening shift quant section was a bit tricky in comparison to the other dates’ tests. Never the less I attempted 29 questions with 100% accuracy. Practice the STD method and revise it..it will be of great help. Thank you Mrunal sir for teaching me that. Overall quantitative section was the most tricky section among the 5 sections.
My total attempts 167.
As per as I think for Assam(Guwahati) the cut off for general should fall between 115-129 and for OBC 100-120 (just my assumption).
All the best hope my review helps.
English & reasoning sections were easy …. except 1 sitting arrangement which took comparatively more tym fr me ….easy que. on direction sense, sitting, syllogism, inequalities -around 5 que. from inequalities …. & with regards to Eng. v. simple passage and error detection..
GA was easy except for those figures details que. ..of the few which i remember :-
Currency of Bangladesh
Addis Ababa is capital of
How many countries are dere in ASEAN group
Who is the external minister of India
Menka Gandhi heads which ministry
Indra Gandhi canal is in which state
Income tax slab starts from – for old age ppl
etc
And computers was definatly a cake walk… i guess special preperation is not at oll required for the one whic is atleast aquinted with computers.
Numerical ability:- lolzz.. i consider dat i am weak in this section as this was my 1st attempt and seeking other papers of po and other exams so i attempted it in last saving almost 50 min. for this section but when i jumped to it .. i was amazed clerical exam kind que.
simple simplification, 2 que from ages 4 que of statistics.. profit and loss, pipes and cisterns, simple ques on square realated to perimeter and area, percentage and simple interest.

From Haryana, and applied for post in Chandigarh
Guys RBI assistant exam that is to be held on 28-09-2014 is postponed only in Tamil nadu due to unfavourable situation……..
Any update in this
General Awareness
covered mainly from the last 3 months topics. gave equal importance to both static as well as current affairs. Economic related questions
were mainly from the budget and survey reports. Main areas were from SC rulings, latest governors, etc. If an aspirant sincerely follows
any good national newspaper and revises it timely, she/he can easily attempt almost all of them.
Reasoning
comprised from mainly conclusion-assertion, venn diagrams, 1 sitting arrangement, 1 based on order arranging- days-magazine like,
comparision based, direction based, etc. Of basic level, focus on arrangement type question as they will help in solving around 5
questions each. but don’t get stuck on it, move on as easy and tuff questions are scattered around.
Mathematical ability
2 DI questions of OK calculations( not much interlinked). unitary method, % based, profit/loss based and similar types. Basic level.
A better mental calculation will help u save a few crucial times. Don’t just jump into calculation, sometimes elimination technique
will also work.
English
1 small paragraph based comprehension- had separate part for antonym-synonym et al., find the wrong statements type, fill in the
blanks, correct the sentences, and other basic stuff
Computer awareness
equally focussed on network-internet, security, office, hardware, OS, etc. Of basic level.
Extra
Solve some previous years papers(about 5 to 6 on time bound basis). As the paper were quite easy, probably cut-off will be higher,
follow GK-> Computer->english->Reasoning/Numerical ability. That will give u a good start and confidence. Sectional as well as
aggregate cut-off exist, so stop speculating and start practising.
Bst of Luck
