I think upsc 2015 cut off will be open 90-95 obc 85-90 sc 80-85 st 80
For all those who have projected the cut-off to be above 100, I would say that when the cut-off included both GS and CSAT it was around 50% ! That means most people may have scored less in GS and high in CSAT because every question was of 2.5 marks. I believe that the cut-off would be around 90. Most of the prestigious institutes have reported wrong answers to 5 to 10 questions. How can they predict a cut-off so high when the answers as reported by them are not correct. For example -IREDA, Bio-toilet, Ice-Cube, Ecosystem among others. Hope is the highest act of faith. We should not waste our time and should focus on preparation on mains.

I did some pre assumption abt cutoff in 2013 and started preparing after declaration of results
So very much tensed while preparation and exam led me to get sick on day of optional paper and not reading that instruction on question paper and started solving all question .
Leading me poor markes in optional like 52 in p1 and just 23 in p2 and losing interview call by just 100 marks.
if you get just equal to cutoff is equal with the top scorer in pre in India .

Those candidates of General Category getting above 90 marks in GS-1 should start preparation as soon as possible. That is the decent score in UPSC.

Becoz without mains preparation if you’ll pass the prelims this year/next year, you won’t be able to cover the whole mains syllabus in 2-3 months…so prepare for mains… It will make you strong in GS & so in the next year’s prelims!

SC-ST candidates getting around 80-85 or above marks in GS-1 should start preparation for mains instead of wasting precious time is asking for cut-offs.

Paper II had been very difficult for a lot of regional candidates. Considering the qualifying marks of Paper II i.e 66, candidates with CAT/MAT/Engg. background can easily sail through. More candidates from management/Eng background qualifying in Paper II would drastically reduce cut off marks for Paper I. Please go through the marks obtained by toppers in prelims and differentiate between scores of Paper I and Paper II. On an average their overall qualifying score in Prelims would be from 40% Paper I plus 60% Paper II. Even some toppers scored less than 80 marks in Paper I prelims. Notified vacancies are around 1130 this year. My assumption is that, any score more than 80 in paper I after due qualification in Paper II should be good enough. Also, answer keys published as on date, show considerable difference of opinions. UPSC is the final authority and we may not know, what miracle would take place!!! Keep preparing for mains! If not for this mains, we can leverage our mains preparation for other PCS/attempts. All the very best Friends, wish you good luck.

Your assesment is vry logical. I am sure you have cracked many competetion in your life. few idiots guessing 120 as cutoff, off course they r out of competition due to their mental abilities. i guess last people to qualify will be scoring around 90-95

Last year I darkenend wrong circle down roll no. But I got corrected it undersigned by invigilator along with centre supervisor including an official deputed by UPSC . & my omr was checked .
