Friends.. I attended what exactly I know and got 110 in gs1. But in paper2 I made a mistake that I have been attended only 45 questions due to confusion arises from lots of passages. When I checked from Shankar key got 33 correct and from vajiram key 36 correct. My mind is in trouble since from exam. What shall I do now.?

Bhai 110+ safe category hai, even a single marks down brings uncertainty. You have 90% chance but not 100%. I am in the same boat 108.22 to 113.xx , as coming below 110 some uncertainty creeps in. However chances are high.

Friends got only 85 paper 1 ,4th attempt ,general category…what to do all my optimism got shattered ,frustated ,dissopointed ,screw my life….what to do….??????first two attempts non serious attempts couldn’t get through prelims , 2014 dint qualify missed cutt of by a whisker…….what to do…feel life giving up….

how can you give two non serious attempts? 85 in general category is out of question. the cutoff will be around 105. So, the moral of the story is henceforth whatever you do, do it with zeal and passion. studying for UPSC will definitely help you a lot in future. by now you have become an enlightened one. Please do not get frustrated, there is more to life. May be you become a very successful person in future giving employment to many. All IAS and IPS officers might salute you if you bring pride to the nation by contributing to it. ALL THE BEST friend!!!

Friend, i am afraid of so much obsession for UPSC. It’s just small part of life and there are many ways you can be far more successful in your life. Even if you didn’t qualify but recall the knowledge you got about various subjects which will help you to be better human being. Possibly better than IAS,IPS, if you follow right path.
I know (not personally) a person who (belongs to OBC) could not clear prelims for 6 times and became an IAS officer in his last attempt. (true story)
I know this guy who after having been selected as IRS took the exam three times and could not even clear prelims. (true story)

Yeah frnd its difficult to believe that you are in danger zone but think what will you do know. Nothing study for mains if you are not able to concentrate on your study then think I lost this game and never be an civil servant. Sometime lowest negativity having maximum hope.
Even I am getting around 90-95 and I know that know I can’t do anything. I am not able to qualify for mains. I cried when I calculated my marks but what can I do nothing. Think one thing “I CAN’T DO ANYTHING”.

2015 General Studies Prelims Cut Off
Once the Civil Service Prelims get over, the immediate question in every aspirant’s mind is, what will be the cut off.
Last year many were guessing the cutoff to be 240 marks. However, finally when the UPSC released it was around 204 marks only. If we go by last year standard, then cutoff this year should be 204 divided by 2. So around 102 marks for this year. However, CSAT was also part of last year’s score and students used to score not less than 140 marks in CSAT. Therefore last year cutoff divided by 2 logic will not hold true.
Eventhough there were several easy questions in this year General Studies paper, there were also several tricky questions. Also many aspirants this year concentrated on Art & Culture(because of last year experience) during preparation. However, very few questions Culture this year. Eventhough several questions appear very easy, when we start working the key, it took hours for us to come out with the answer key even after using books and Google.
Considering all the above facts, I feel the Cut Off marks for this year for General category may atmost touch 100 marks. I dont think it will go beyond that. We are not UPSC. So it may come below 100 marks also .Those who have done reasonably well(from a good answer key), can confidently start their Mains preparation. Don’t waste next one month without reading until the UPSC results are out. Those who succeed in Mains Exam are those who start their preparation immediately after Prelims exam without waiting for the result. Start your preparation from today.

Paper was very easy ..so that I have made 20 wrong answer from difficult questions and 14 wrong answer from the so called easy questions … 34 wrong …Bhai …who told you that it was easy …? Questions was very easy ..but not the options ..( 25 question may be easy and direct ..but remaining is very tricky

The problem with the option “C” i.e.”scheduled banks may reduce interest rates” is
1)if Repo rate is reduced there are chances of reducing interest rates, but here it is SLR which is reduced.
2)okay SLR is reduced, but if there are high policy rates.
3)for both the above options(B &C) the word “may” is crucial.
