- You’re most welcome to provide your inputs, answers, observation, analysis and experience in the comments below.
- If you want to discuss then discuss MCQs, (and not cut-offs.) Everyone who had prepared sincerely, and did not risk too much negative marking, he/she has a fair chance of clearing prelims.
- Internet user sample size too short to make any predictions. So don’t lose blood pressure, if Mr.X, Y or Z says he ticked more MCQs than you.

Who is the custodian of Indian Constitution? – Coaching wallas always taught that it is President of India. SC is the protector of Fundamental Rights (Art 13 & 32).
Unique Quintessence of General Studies Paper-I by J.K. Chopra (2011 VERSION)
Part A Indian Government and Polity
page 24
Provision for Autonomous Organization
Line 5
SC is the custodian of our fundamental rights and the CONSTITUTION.
Sir……. We r waiting for a reliable answer key…plz upload it soon
i hv doubt on
66. Consider the following :
The arrival of Babur into India led to
the
1. introduction of gunpowder in the
subcontinent.
2. introduction of the arch and dome
in the region’s architecture.
3. establishment of Timurid dynasty
in the region
evry coaching marked 3rd statement as correct
but accc to me in india timurid dynsty nvr got establisshd
babur establshd mughal dynsty
yuppp babur were lineage og timur n chengaiz khan
but not timurid dynsty nvr estblished in india
point 2 babur introduced gun powder in india during battle of khanwa due which he came better of rana sanga der
point 3 although vault n dome was introduced during sharqi period but real starting can b said only during mughals
so as per me statement 1 n 2 is correct
statement 3 talks about timurid “dynasty” and not timurid “empire”…..so i think the statement is true…..
but there can be different interpretation…
timruid dynasty direct statement from ncert…..themes ..
mughals wanted to cal themselves asdecendends of timruidside andnot mongoloid side
We already had ‘Arch’ in Barabar caves in Gaya,i think in Sudama cave also- Ashoka ke Papa ne Ajivak sect ke liye banwaya tha na !!!
gun powder used in deccan during battle between vijayanagara and bahamani sultans(source-paradox interactive-gun powder and war fare in sub continent-1450-1600),
and arch and dome introduced by sultans and popularized by mughals
SIR,
BY THE BABAR,S ARRIVELS IN INDIA ONLY BEST POINT IS INTRODUCE THE GUN POWDER FIRST TIME HERE. HE HAD NOT ANY PALNE TO ESTABLISH TAMURE DYESTANY AND HE DIDNT MADE ANY BULDING.
Mughals never referred themselves as Mughals, the term’s usage started by the British.
Arch and dome method was introduced by Turks who learned it from peoples of east Europe,
Babur belonged to Timur dynasty
babur was founder of the Mughal, belonged to chaghtai dynasty of Turkish race. Which i found from arihant series History.. but not Timurids…
In old ncert medieval india it is written, although gun powder was already there in india, babur utilised it well in the battle….exactly as it is quoted in the book
Babar was a descendent of Timur. Its automatic that if he rules then timurid dynasty got established. Obviously later they called themselves as mughals.
Hey surbhi .. I am in same boat as yours ..will be preparing for mains with political science as optional ..apoorvthakur1@yahoo.com is my mail id

10. The fundamental object of Panchayati
Raj system is to ensure which among
the following?
1. People’s participation in
development.
2. Political accountability
3. Democratic decentralization
4. Financial mobilization
Select the correct answer using the
code given below.
(a) 1, 2 and 3 only
(b) 2 and 4 only
(c) 1 and 3 only
(d) 1, 2, 3 and 4
acc to me option d is correct
1. People’s participation in
development. due to gram sabha
2. Political accountability accountable to gram sabha
3. Democratic decentralization by state legislatures
4. Financial mobilization state finance commission power to tax like octroi etc
I have marked 1 and 3 only as it was asking about “fundamental” objective
anyways when there is so ambiguity in this answer I have considered mine as wrong … final $interpreter == “UPSC”
I have also marked 1 & 3 as it has asked the fundametal objectives
established political party symbols are not used in panchayat elections, (how is poitical acct. achieved? )
What about panchayat election in WB?
Hi, I attempted 79 in GS1 (Ya gone too far..) out of which 47 right & 32 wrong according to Shankar IAS key, so my final score is 82. I from Gen category and nw I m confused should I start preparating for mains or not..
Galat hai all four are correct. Fundamental does not mean what is passed by govt by now. It is about fundamental for decentralisation. ALS has also gone for all 4.
correct answer of panchyati raj question is statement1,2,3
its c is the answer
the ques is full of ambiguity and all aspirants and coaching centers also swinging in same manner as they don’t know, their ans is right or wrong.. I answered 1&3 and counted myself as wrong.. now it’s up to upsc that i will get +2 :-) or -2/3 :-(… let’s UPSC decide and i will start studying for mains(at least for my optional)..
A state finance commission also establish for granting and devolution of money to Panchayat why this fourth option not correct i surprised to see the answer key of many renowned coaching site
The Panchayat Raj site shows vison as : People’s participation & democratic decentralization
The Ministry of Panchayat Raj site mentions vision as : democratic decentralization and people’s participation.

Tropical Latitudes do not have cyclones? – Some answer keys says that Sea temp are lower & some say that ITCZ seldom present… I guess both are wrong.. Sea temp low in tropical regions is a very vague statement..In tropical regions temperatures are not low. Also if ITCZ would have been the answer than equatorial regions should have had max cyclones as ITCZ occurs max along equatorial regions but that is incorrect. Correct option should be weak coriolis force in tropical regions.. NCERT also says (although indirectly) that equatorial regions do not have cyclones due to very weak coriolis force there.. Any other views.??
@ Love Sharma
Your point regarding Timurid dynasty is a good one. By the way does UPSC gives multiple answers to a question???
Just compare last year paper with this year, this year paper has more single option questions,Geography.polity, economy qs are simple,12-15 questions seemsvto be difficult.I think cutoff for general will be more than 125
Sc categary 84 marks
What are chances?!
getting 80 SC ……………will I start for mains???????????????????????
When will upsc come up with the answer key?
for golldilocks zone its (c) i guess ……………………………….http://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/science/8-new-planets-found-in-goldilocks-zone/article6762925.ece in option upsc has mention earth whereas it is for any planet
gs-1 98
gs-2 95
do i have any chance
