- You’re most welcome to provide your inputs, answers, observation, analysis and experience in the comments below.
- If you want to discuss then discuss MCQs, (and not cut-offs.) Everyone who had prepared sincerely, and did not risk too much negative marking, he/she has a fair chance of clearing prelims.
- Internet user sample size too short to make any predictions. So don’t lose blood pressure, if Mr.X, Y or Z says he ticked more MCQs than you.

equuatorial counter current ka explaination mila?
bhai rotation of earth hai
due to rotation of earth two equatorial currents happen and water moves toward westward direction and as water piles up in westward direction some part of it flows back(in eastward direction) and form equatorial counter current.
sriram ki key me dusra diya h
Bhai ab keys ka to kya hi bataun
Chankya aur Shankar me to rotation diya hai CL to kuch bhi de sakta hai
p.s I the info which I have given is mentioned in TMH geography book by S Singh at page no 4.25
Nikhil you are right, I’ve geography optional and this is the best explanation for this question
if earth is round why water will return back to eastward direction..it may come from other side.
bhai..its indirectly due to rotation of earth.
Bhai Rotation of earth has no effect at equator. Option b is correct. My teachers at Vajiram also said so. You must have read that corriolis force decrease as we go down from poles and becomes zero at equator then how come earth rotation has any effect here.
rotation or earth how ? as rotation direction decide to move to west not to east and counter current start from west and move to east is it? then answer can not be rotation of earth as this happens when piling of water at west side then water start to move
Earth is rotating from west to east to counter its speed a friction force is develop its direction is east to west and known as equatorial counter current, this is my explanation ,and rest all are consequence

Dear friends….gun powder was introduced in India during 13-14 the centuries by Turks…it was used by bahmanis and vijaynagar in warfare….Vasco da gama (1498) popularised it in south and Albuquerque used it for capturing Goa in 1526…. Likewise arch-dome combinations were employed by early sultans
gun powder was already present. Babur made its use more and during his period it was made widely known, it is given in old NCERT book
what was the answer of cyclones in Southern Hemisphere
I think the first option is wrong regarding nitrogen fixing bacteria . if it was right then u add as much amount of fertilizers it would be compensated by those overgrowing bacteria causing no harm to the soil but in actual experience it is just opposite, it damages soil.

Respected Mrunal Sir, before you put up the answers to the prelims question I request you to take the following points into cognizance
1. In series B of paper 1, please give detailed explanation for Q 18 (along with source).
2. In Q29, 1st statement is definitely wrong but please provide all reason for statement 2 from all angles (including the negation of the statement as well).
In Q30, many answer keys say a or b is the correct option but both statements seems to be wrong – a is wrong because we cannot say that temperature is low in tropical areas. b should be wrong because if absence of ITCZ would have been the answer, then equatorial regions (with max emergence of ITCZ) should have had max cyclones but that does not happen. Answer should be (c). Moreover NCERT (XI or XII class) also says that absence of coriolis force in equatorial region is the reason for no cyclones there. This argument can be extended to Tropical regions also with the only change that “No Coriolis Force” is to be replaced by “Weak coriolis force.”
3. Kindly give detailed explanation (with source) for Q 41. {Rowlatt Act}
4. In Q66, the catch is that even though Babur was a decendent of Timur but Babur did not established Timurid dynasty, he established Mughal Dynasty. A dynasty is said to be established when there is a continuous succession of rulers from that dynasty. After Timur’s invasion into India, there was a long Delhi Sultanate present in India and only in 1500s did Babur arrived on the scene & established the Mughal Dynasty. Please give your opinion on this.
5. In question 86 – please refer to the Presidential Oath as mentioned in the Constitution. It clearly states the President to provide for the protection of the Constitution. Please shed more light.
6. In Q39, it is clearly told to us in the classes that when North Equatorial Current & South Equatorial Current meet, then there is a piling up of water on the Western sides, which causes a counter current towards the East. Option c & d have no weight. However many answer keys have marked option (a) as correct but since the current mentioned is equatorial counter current hence earth’s rotation (or equivalently coriolis force) should have no effect on currents near equator as coriolis force is very weak there.
I hope you will pay heed to the above arguments rather than turning a blind eye.
Yours faithfully
Your avid follower
Nope I disagree with u sir…I attempted 73 in paper 2

Guys I am getting 112 in paper I as per CL answer key and failed in Paper II from 5 marks! Don’t know what to do.. One year wasted!

My dob is april/1984. UPSC prelims 2015 was my first attempt. Do I have more chances?
I took absolute worst case scenario in checking answer keys ( as there are many disparities) and arrived at 128/200.
I was wondering how the rest of you have fared and what the general trend is.
I encountered answer disparities for-
1)14th finance commission – what sector specific grant implies
2)If Avanti was connected to life of Buddha
3) Whether financial mobilization is fundamental objective of PRI
4) Ideal of welfare state enshrined in constitution – a)The DPSP’S exhaustively give explicit guiding provisions for welfare state
b) Preamble is more in terms of enshrining an Ideal or philosophy of welfare state
5) Implications of declining tax to GDP ratio
