What to prepare for interview?
From the 2012’s recruitment round, many Players had posted their interview experiences in the comments below the following article:
https://mrunal.org/2012/08/studyplan-acio.html/comment-page-5#comments
so just go through them to get a feel of how the interview goes. Note: every page contains 50 comments and interview experience sharing starts from comment page number 5.
Some tips (from those comments)
- 60% on your biodata. (Why do you want to join IB? Educational background, terminology, hobbies)
- 30% on current issue (mostly national and regional. + some current related to neighboring countries from IB/security/terrorism angle.)
- 10% intelligence system of India.
- If you are not fluent in English practice it, as sometimes panel member may insist that you answer a particular question in english.
- For some people it was for 5 mins and for some it went upto 20 mins.
- In the panel, one member will be observing you and taking notes.
(for more, go through the comments in the link I gave above.)

Darn!! No letters no communication!
No new comments about joining letters for a while now. That should mean all the trainee for 22 Sep batch have been informed. They are almost over with south India and have called a few from Delhi and U.P too. I guess we should be in for the next one. 10 weeks for a batch, that mean call letters may come around 1st/2nd week of October.
Has any delhiite got the joining letter here??
Yeah kind of a blessing in disguise, shall celebrate durga Pooja one last time. :)
hiii rambler,,,,can u plz tell me dat from where u got to know dat sme delhiites has received call letters for d second batch?….waiting for ur reply….thanx:)
@rambler… Are you sure they have started calling delhites?
Very few. Most will be in next batch.
i am worried a bit.. would there be any 3rd batch?
Ofcourse there will be..don’t worry
I doubt there will be a 3rd batch… these two batches were all for 2014..those found erroneous during verification are cancelled..
Relax bhai.. dnt worry.. there are many of us in the same pipeline ;-)
thanks guys for ur reassurance.. i guess most delhites will be in the next batch

any updates about call letters people?
Hi friends, was busy with the medical tests… completed it today – Blood sugar, blood test, Chest Xray, ECG, Eye test (color, near & farsight) etc… got the sealed cover at the district Medical hospital… may take 2 – 5 days for the entire thing from taking test to attestation & getting the approval, pls be advised and allocate time accordingly for the same…that too at the government hospital, which will always be crowded and everything has to be done in the stipulated time…i suggest to do it asap when you get the call letter to save time….Good Luck !
@abc- hi… is the medical of police/military standard? how many days did the process take in your case?
@Raj – not that much i suppose..be cool anyways and try not to rush anything… just meet with the civil surgeon, show that person the letter, they will tell u wat to do.. in my case, they just asked me to take tests and submit the reports..eye test, xray, ecg etc in 1 day… blood test, sugar test etc 1 day… the rest may depend on the civil surgeon.. provided the reports are ok in the sense, fitness is of acceptable level.. Because they wont issue the ceritificate without the results of the reports because it would spell trouble.. since the civil surgeon at the district headquarters hospital may be having a lot on his/her hands, i suggest you proceed with it giving ample time and go thru it one after the other…they may ask you to produce the call letter and also the letter addressed to them concerning the tests…..as its a govt hospital, u need to have lot of patience and be there each day on time or early to complete things…
@abc- thanks yaar.
@Raj – no prob :)
Hi abc, can the medical be done at private hospital and then the reports can be attested by CMO? Or is it required to be done at the govt. hospital compulsarily?
@Sanjay – How are you friend, hope you are doing fine and hope your back problem is fine now…I suggest that it be done at the govt hospital, because the letter by the Asst.Director is addressed to the civil surgeon of the dist headquarters govt hospital.. if u goto private and then to govt guys, u may be asked to do things twice for their own satisfaction and double expense overall + time too…
@Sanjay – i did the blood tests, urine analysis etc from a private lab outside as suggested by him and submitted the report to the civil surgeon … Xray, ECG, Eye test etc i underwent at the govt hospital itself…
Thank you very much abc. :)
any idea what will hapen if you are injured during training? Will they send you home and dismiss you from the recruitment?
@Sanjay – 1st of all – Lets hope for the best & hope for a positive outcome :)
Wrt my conversation at the time of receiving call letter with the officer, he said it may depend on a case to case basis and not ordinarily, under critical circumstances – i suppose wont dismiss but leave of absence on medical grounds if performance was good till that moment… but for sure, he hinted the training involves a lot of leg-work, running etc… the ustaads there would be driving us to perform.. anyway we can never know actually unless we report there.
it would be better to start jogging or running regularly as per what he recommended would be enough… rest, lets see…
HELLO ABC CONGRATS ON YOUR SELECTION…
MAY I KNOW WHAT WAS EYE SIGHT STANDARD (6/6 6/9 6/12)? AND IS IT MANDATORY FOR SELECTION??
@ Agni – hi, i dont wear glasses, so i guess the test was pretty easy – they ask to read alphabets & numbers (big & small) at a distance of 6 feet(approx i guess) each time with 1eye closed…the guidelines are in the medical certificate sheet which we get with the call letter….as to your question bro, am not sure, i just got the results from the test and gave it to the doctor, he interpreted them and gave the verdict & fitness certificate…so am not sure how to answer your question specifically.. let me know if you need any other detail, i will try to answer as far as i know..
@abc… does the joining letter mention the name of a specific hospital for each candidate where he has to report for medical?
The letter is addressed to CMO/Civil surgeon – district headquarters govt hospital….
Hey abc, regarding the training, it the mountaineering after the 2 months in delhi or before that?
@abc… was there any test/examination of ear nose throat and skin?
thanks for the info buddy what are the exact guidelines regarding eye sight in the medical certificate sheet is the any particular standard of vision mentioned in it?
@Agni – as per ur request, am typing exactly whatever is given in the guidelines sheet of the medical letter sent with the call letter…Kindly refer the below….I don’t know how to interpret specifics concerning vision…
– A candidate must be in a good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties of his appointment. He should have the required physical standard of health to enable him to work in the harsh climate at places of high altitude
– Standard of distant & near vision w/wo glasses – Distant Vision – better eye(6/9 or 6/6), worse eye(6/9 or 6/12)….Near Vision – better eye(0.6), worse eye(0.8)…
– when the age of the candidate at the time of first appointment is 25years or more, the corrected visual acuity is reduced by one step i.e. (6/12 or 6/9 | 6/12 or 6/18
– Colour vision normal
– one eyed persons are regarded as unfit
– Blood pressure: 15-25 yrs of age 100 plus the age is average. over 25 years of age 110 plus half the age is satisfactory
– urine examination should confirm to the standard of medical fitness
– candidate’s hearing in each ear should be good and there should not be any sign of disease of the ears
– candidate’s speech, teeth should be in order, chest well formed and expansion sufficient, heart and lungslimbs hand and foot well formed

– ECG
Hiii abc..thanks 4 sharing info brother..
Plz tell me 1 thng..during ur medical , was dere ny test regarding movement of limbs, joints, fingers like that.??
Thanks in advance. .
@Vikram – hi… no..but i heard one of the guys i know, say that the civil surgeon from his place had recommended some tests something similar to that..i am just saying whatever he told me, had done some tests for checking whether the joints are working right without any difficulty.. it seems the guy had broken one of his limbs some years back (not sure whether hand or leg though)… so it depends on the civil surgeon and the candidate being tested as far as i know…i can’t say anything for sure, whatever i know is limited bro…

Hi Bond007, I was busy with some stuff here and completing the pre-joining procedures…am into the 2nd batch…if the 1st batch was from 7th july till 1st week of sept..2nd batch is from 22nd sept..then you may have an idea about the 3rd batch….
wrt info, i’l try to post whatever info that i have and can be shared safely…
i request you to go through the previous pages and comments and then post any additional questions if not covered already or definite answer is not there… moreover, the thing with this stuff is, anything can be done or any procedure can be followed at any instant anywhere, no questions asked..so what ppl might share may be what they have seen/experienced wrt themselves and no guarantee thats the same elsewhere…
and so far as i know, patience plays a very big role here (same thing has been re-iterated by my friends who are currently serving)…
Lets hope for the best… cheers…
Thanks bro and wish you best luck for the adventurous job ahead and wish meet you some where during training
