UPSC has uploaded the halltickets for CSAT-2014. No change in exam date. It’s same 24th august 2014, Sunday. No change in exam structure- same two papers. No change in negative marking, same 33%.

- any discrepancy in name, parent’s name, photo then send mail to web-upsc@nic.in
- You’ve to tick OMR answers only in BLACK pen. Otherwise you paper will not will evaluated.
- I recommend you bring clipboard. Reason: Sarkaari colleges and highschools have benches have rough surface and holes. It’ll “injure” your OMR sheet while you’re marking answer in black pen.
- if you’ve applied twice, then Use HIGHER REGISTRATION number while downloading the hallticket.
- If your hallticket doesn’t have clear photo/signature, you will have to bring a photo identity proof viz. Adhar Card, Driving License, Passport, Voter I Card etc. and two passport size photographs one for each paper with an undertaking.
- Save your own hallticket PDF file in google drive. So there is no fear of misplacing/forgetting roll number.

With all due respect to people protesting and the reasons. But there is one thing illogical,
They say about saving HINDI, but in all nearly every UPSC paper written or Objectives including CSAT there are both languages. Why protest then?
Subrat , ask UPSC to make paper in hindi and translate in English..if 3/4 passages are in English then also ask UPSC to have 3/4 passages of hindi also.
Madam. already this thing is in regional PSC, like Hindi is in UP PSC , panjabi in panjab PSC, Marathi in MH PSC, If how can a Tamil or Assamese can solve Hindi paper of other PSC or Hindi , if it comes in UPSC,,, If u can solve tamil questions then bring 4 questions of Hindi, 4 of tamil language, telugu and all… Make equality… or give a common language paper and English is adapted by all. My Father is studied from Hindi Medium and He is a Senior Officer and says hamne us zamaane mein kiyaa to in logon ko kya dikkat h . @English Medium students: It’s not about to remove the csat .. You are saying this only because you are concerned with the English only not the stupid hindi translation which is mentioned in paper .. Why do not UPSC make the paper in Hindi and translate into English.. Then only you will know the pain of hindi medium students .

Maam, one thing you note, its not english only which is a problem for Hindi medium students, its a combination of Hindi background and Humanities. It is a question of way of learning. CSAT or any aptitude paper tests analytical skills of a candidate. In that analytical skills the vernacular and humanities students stand no chance against those with IIT or reputed engg college background. Make whatever changes you can make, make Hindi as original and translate them in English, still they would have upper hand, I reckon. Its the FYUP which honed them such skills which they already had, aproof of qualifying JEE. Problem with Hindi medium sudents is that they don’t know their Hindi well,I mean as a conversant language. The reason being they didn’t studied it with extra effort ever as they never needed it, while those in English medium had to put extra effort. Do you think 2012 English comprehension were that easy for the English medium. No way. Still people scored decently because they have practiced. But, hindi guys have never practiced analytical skills their whole life. They have more been in the pattern of mugging up. And I know these because I am from Hindi belt and rural background, though studied convent later in Life.

#Simply reduce the weightage of Paper 2: People are making a mockery of Paper-2 and therby gaining easy access to mains. Scoring 100 in Paper-1 needs some taking whereas 100 means a very average score(read below par) in Paper-2.
#Remove the debatable 8 questions that has led to all this chaos.
#Increase weightage of Decision Making.
#It is not justified to ask for removal of aptitude questions as they are of very basic level.

gave mains in 2012…. Now this protest started one year back.. but did not gain lot of media attention… now why nobody protested in april??
simple answer……govt was just elected. People expected changes but upsc dint do anything about prelims. minimum score in gs and csat further
disappointed hindi medium candidates. (i personally feel minimum marks shud have been 70 for both papers). The translation is very poor.

lot of candidates in hindi belt are facing problems. For some people it may be too easy to clear prelims but for some it has gone beyond their hats.
i know more than 10 people who cracked prelims in 2009 , 2010 (missed into merit list in narrow range) and failed in 2011 and 2012 and attempts
exhausted. All they lost was in RC….. dont forget ….more than 50% questions wer RC …. we are arguing here apti is essential english is essential
etc etc…..but just think for a while….. they grew up in village studied in vernacular language and now they are failing just because of some language
barrier….some thing wrong somewhere right???? maybe there are people who cope up wit language but not all can dio it….it is really not an even ground.

Where do you find petty calculations in Csat? Don’t argue for argument sake. GS-4 hi hai jab sab to baqi sab hatwa do na. Kuch b? By no means i don’t want to humiliate the civil servants till date but before gs 4 were they not deserving to be a civil servant? Its not just about apti. Those guys do much better in gs essay interview and everything. So stop misleading.
C’mon that’s the most ridiculous examination pattern i have ever seen. Cram and deliver.. What’s the point in so much studying when you have to act practically keeping in mind all the political pressures, pressure groups and corruption and other vices. When a large percentage of state PCS are being recruited in a corrupt manner what qualities do you expect in them?

My understanding of the issue is not that hollow or insensitive. But it’s just about the perspective i was commenting on.
True that comprehension translation should be scrapped. May be we can have compulsory english comprehension and 40-50+ extra questions with say 20-30 questions of hindi comprehension and hindi general and more of interpersonal skills or reasoning. But the demand of scrapping CSAT is utter nonsense.
Wo garib or sarkari or hindi ka bahana bana k kuch nhi hoga. Sab ko itna to aana hi chahie. And y u guys don’t nderstand? Even if the paper-2 is scrapped you guys will be filtered out in later stages with the kind of attitude you are having towards UPSC. But UPSC can also retaliate later on… So guys ask for your rights but in a democratic manner. There is no point in challenging a well-tested method worldwide. And the revolts we are seeing these days in news are just for petty political gains.
We all know the student agitations are a good platform for the making of future politicians in this country. And maybe with this kinda attitude of “Hamari Maange Puri Karo” you guys can well land into a good position in ABVP, NSUI or may be become an MP/MLA… But a humble request to spare serious students!

xm abhi dene ka ye mtlb nhi hota ki jeevan me phli br kitab abhi uthayi h.it’s a vry long process.upsc se phle log or bhi kayi xm dete h puri prep kar k.vo preparation is time kaam ati h apna syallabus jaldi cover krne me,mera syallabus cvr isliye hua bcz i ws preparing 4 teacher xm,jisme sare subjects puche jate h…i said all this bcz hr kisi ka ek apna strength hota h 4 a specific sub.isse kbhi kisi ko fayda hota h or kisi ko nuksaan.no one is boasting here bt hr student ko apne background ka benefit hota h, kisi ko kam or kisi ko jyada.
@spritibreaker: frnd, I m from vernacular medium (marathi) last time I studied hindi in 7th..I cant understand hindi in upsc paper..and there is no other option for me to learn english..though live in village..I cleard 3 times cds exam..but all the time I rejected in interview.. (gd) I cant speak english fluently..this all ramayan for only one reason is I am also facing language barrier…but I hav to overcome this problem..this is only way..
@dipaliji..: only that 3 things not sufficient..one should also require deep knowledge..analytical ability..comprehensive ability..because.today an ias or ips hav to face much more problems than earlier..

whatever the changes are going to be done, it must be done at the earliest. As we are working people and we are facing the problem of availing leave to appear in the exam ,so UPSC must notify the intention. This will facilitate us to plan accordingly. In whole drama we type of people may be the looser.

May be their argument is right or may not. I donot understand one thing, “Why people are against csat / math only in civils? Its there in CAPF, CDS also. What not! in almost in every exam.” If they want to fight they should fight for everything. This can be taken positively by the govt to change the education structure and language preference in the whole education system and make it uniform throughout the country.
Also preparation of exam is one year process. Logically speaking they should have practiced.
I donot understand one more thing – People who are willing to work in the govt are protesting against the govt. How could India develop if these people are into services where problems come all of a sudden with out any alarm/ notification (:p).

I think Hindi medium aspirants not only have a problem with English section in paper 2 rather they have a problem with engineering students. They thought its easy for engineering student to crack civil service prelim due to CSAT and thus upsc is bias towards technical students. Let me draw few lines here, we all know that in gs papers, most questions were set from history, geography, Indian polity, economics , few from science and tech, n General science . Now, can u find any engineering related topics from the said gs papers?. What if those from technical background ( say CS/ IT ) wants upsc to scrap history, geography, Indian polity, economics, Physics, chemistry, Biology, Environmental n ecology coz they r favoring history honors, Geography honors , Law students, Economics students, Physics honors, Chemistry Honors, Bio honors respectively..
Choose the best option:
1. Current cut-off in CSAT ( 1 & 2) papers should be changed: 80 for each out of 200.
2. CSAT2 should be made qualifying.
3. CSAT Paper2 should be changed completely, removing comprehension parts and including
non verbal and psychometric questions.
4. Remove the whole CSAT2 paper.
5. NOTA.
Watching the news right now. NSUI guys are also on dharna with the aspirants. One of them blaming modi n bjp for present scenario n praising rahul baba s efforts .Politicization of the issue is taking place,this is what i hate the most.

The protests by so called IAS aspirants over CSAT is so detestable and pathetic. I request UPSC to make the paper in hindi or better their own mother tongue to satiate them . They will still be weeded out and beaten because true aspirants always believe in “Labor omnia vincet ” meaning “hardwork conquers all” meaning “parishram sab fateh karta hai ” . Enough of this mediocrity !!!

Jahan tk meri soch hai, at present, CSAT is more important than GS paper in prelm exam because if you score 170+ then there are more chance to go to the next level; Mains. Means CSAT dominates…..
Wht abt GS, Just get 60 around marks, for non serious player, those who work hard whole year, a few, and move next level.
Wht differece appear then, most of the aspirants who studied whole year GS with hard work, like non english medium or who hates CSAT fails to qualify,… means who prepared CAT exams got entrance of the Mains Door.
Now if the debate is, CSAT should ne a part of exam or not…..
Thn why this paper is important when the aspirants in mains getting low marks in GS.
Wht is important first GS or CSAT,… if both, then why they cant taught this subject during the training time. Because instead of GS it tooks less time…
Problm is CSAT creating hyper tension among the GS enriched students, they failed to qualify Prel because of low marks in CSAt.
