Detailed Analysis and Topicwise Answerkeys with explanations (for all sets), coming soon.
- You’re most welcome to provide your inputs, answers, observation, analysis and experience in the comments below.
- If you want to discuss then discuss MCQs, (and not cut-offs.) Everyone who had prepared sincerely, and did not risk too much negative marking, he/she has a fair chance of clearing prelims.
- Internet user sample size too short to make any predictions. So don’t lose blood pressure, if Mr.X, Y or Z says he ticked more MCQs than you.

do any one know correct answer of
1.cabinet mission
2. 1919act
3.rowallt satyagraha
Cabinet mission – A
Rowlatt -A
1919- C
r u sure?
For 1919 question.. go to government of india act 1919 archive. there it is clearly defined under separate headings about powers of secretary of state and viceroy :)
regarding rowlatt, if we go by the grammar… A
and cabinet mission… A
Cabinet mission answer is none….why?
Cabinet Mission ‘s Proposals:
Since an agreed formula could not be conceived by the conflicting parties of India, the Cabinet Mission published their own proposals in the State Paper on May 16, 1946.
Its main recommendations were as follows:
(a) A Union of India:
(i) There shall be a Union of India, including both the Proposals British India, and the Indian States, which should deal with the following subjects: Foreign Affairs, Defence and Communications, and should have the power necessary to raise the finances required for the above subject,
(ii) The Union should have an Executive and a Legislature constituted from British India and States’ representatives. Any question raising a major communal issue in the Legislature should require for its decision a majority of the representatives present and voting of each of the two major communities as well as a majority of all the members present and voting,
(iii) All subjects other than the Union subjects and all residuary powers should vest in the Provinces,
(iv) The States will retain all subjects and powers other than those ceded to the Union,
(v) Provinces should be free to form groups with Executives and Legislatures and each group could determine the provincial subjects to be taken in common,
(vi) The Constitutions of the Union and of the Groups should contain a provision whereby any Province could by a majority vote of its Legislative Assembly, call for a reconsideration of the terms of the Constitution after an initial period of ten years and a ten yearly intervals thereafter.”
NOW THERE WAS A QUESTION IN THE KERALA UNIVERSITY HISTORY DISTANT EDUCATION MATERIAL IT HAS SET the QUESTION..AS FOLLOWS
The Cabinet Mission Plan envisaged for India
(a) Federation (b) Confederation (c) Quasi-Federation (d) Union of State
and its answer is D
cabinet mission ka ans – non of these because they recommended loose confederation
1919 act ka bhi non of these hoga becausein the act the ultimate power given to governor general and the act only said that rules for rule for devolution of power to bemade
i agree with u. no clear cut division of powers was there in 1919 act so answer must be none of these
Even I agree…. The act of 1919 did not introduce federalism in India. Governor General in council got the power and authority to decide whether a particular subject was central or provincial subject. So its not “clearly” defined. But i dunno what upsc thinks….
yes, none is the right option. It is clearly mentioned in DD basu
mrunal sir are you all right?
you have not posted for long.
plz take care of yourself.
we are very much concern about you
I think we need to start prep by ourselves radr dan depending on mrunal sir . its our inertia dat z stopping us to start prep for mains dan nythin else. Saw 32 books(mostly ncert) which i need to thorough wid + course of medical science(my optional). Getting round abt 96.6 obc from shankar ias. Lets kickstart our preparation radr dan looking abt chances of clearing nd futile discussion abt cutoffs.
Mrunal sir…plz rpy…and its 1500th comment
arey yaar …president is d custodian of constitution …. der is no dispute…..
president takes d oath to become a custodian of constitution….as soon as he swears in.. he becomes d defender aka custodian of constitution.
frm laxmikanth under sc chapter it clearly says the constitution has constituted the sc as the guarantor and defender of fundamental rights of the citizens .
and these r d newspaper articles which says president is d custodian of constitution
http://www.hindustantimes.com/chandigarh/to-work-as-custodian-of-constitution-pranab/article1-889619.aspx
http://www.ndtv.com/opinion/dr-kalam-indias-most-non-traditional-president-1201311
and dis article whch says sc as custodian of the fundamental rights of citizens.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Yakub-verdict-Justice-Joseph-takes-the-high-moral-and-legal-ground/articleshow/48260473.cms
Governor also takes a similar oath
this is ok dear but the answer in some NDAexams where the statement president is custodian of constitution is wrong..
The Supreme Court of India is the apex court in India. It is a constitutional body as laid down by Part V of the Chapter V of the Constitution of India. It was founded on 26 January 1950.
As stated by the Indian Constitution, the function of the Supreme Court of India is that of a custodian of the Constitution, a court established by the authority of a federal government, and the uppermost court of appeal.
Bro if a law is made which is unconstitutional can Prez do anything to scrap it???? He can’t so how can he be custodian????

wisdom from AIR-1 IRA SINGHA….no body can guess cutoff….>>>just see the contradiction….AIR-1 scored only 76..!! this is UPSC frns…
In 2010, I prepared for GS prelims, because in that time we had to face one GS and one optional paper at MCQ level. I didn’t GS prelim for 2014. I was lazy and Aptitude paper helped me get through. And I’ve cleared because of that only. Otherwise I got just 76 marks in GS Prelims.
There are people who get 134 in GS prelims alone. If those are the people clearing, then you too have to prepare hard. Although in Prelims they ask factual GS while in Mains they doesn’t ask factual GS, so effort goes into vain. still, you’ll have to prepare for both.
cabinet mission waale ka to ans federal government hi hai….people just don’t want to accept their answer as wrong….same thing happened in last prelims too…..
I attend – 74……………..Wrong Question – 17
My Marks????????????……………….
57×2 = 114
17×0.66 = 11.22
114-11.22 = 102.78…………… rounded 103
Question – I am Right to calculate my marks?
O.B.C. Category …………..My Chance?
Please Reply, Thanks
Yes correct calculations and you have a good chance of clearing Prelims
Thnaks Jashan
Jashan, what is your opinion about OBC cut off. …………….. OBC cut off of 2011,12,13 approx 15 marks less than General cut off, but 2014 difference only 1 marks, that means approx all 3800 OBC candidate obtained similar [ 205 ] marks. What is matter 2014 OBC cut off, i am not understanding …………..Please Explain .
Buddy it was because of Jat reservation.SC crushed it in March. dont worry 6-7 mark difference will be there this time
Thank you very much Ajith….
Please explain this Topic……………Thanks
@Sneh: That was due to Jat reservation. As OBC allows age relaxation, there were many guys who are eligible under OBC but not under General category and these guys were all 204+ and filled the reserved seats. There were not 4000 Guys on 1 mark. CAPF had higher OBC cut off than general due to the same factor of age relaxation.
Special thanks to you …………….
I think at least 10 marks less than General cut off = OBC cut off
Mrunal sir where is the great mrunal analysis of gs paper1 2015….
Friend………..consider
Article 110 e – The receipt of money on account of the Consolidated fund of India or THE PUBLIC ACCOUNT of India or the custody or issue ………………Union or a state;
that means ” The receipt of money of THE PUBLIC ACCOUNT of India is a ” MONEY BILL” [ article 110 ]
so statement 3 is right ………………….but Confusion on word ” Distribution”………………….Someone help
what is right ans………….
I am getting 101-105 from various keys(vajiram and shankarias) general category. What are my chances?
Any predictions for IFos Cut off friends ?
CSP Cut Off + 13-15 Marks = IFoS Cut off
What would be CSP cut off is a big debate. Most say it will be in the range 95-102, I say it would be in the range of 104-109.
IFoS 2015 Prelims cut off 119 approx
Getting 96.7, obc. from shankar, vajiram keys, is there any chance for mains.
Confirm hai…………….. OBC Cut off 90-95

Don’t you think IFoS cut off should be on the lower side this year?
More seats (110 instead of 80+ like previous years), also science graduates score well in CSAT, with no CSAT cutoff should come down.
I am not sure. Maybe I am being overoptimistic due to conflict of Interest. I am scoring somewhere between 125-130. And I hope it suffice as I desperately want to clear IFoS. :-)
@Venus:- Yes you have a point with increased IFoS intake and reduced Civil Services intake the gap will be lesser. But don’t underestimate the science students. The sharpest of the brains are forced to take science at earlier stages and they had enough time to adapt. Also besides that this time there were 2011 Students and everybody focusing hard on GS. If last time the gap was 32 which included CSAT the gap surely would be less than 32/2=16 due to high scoring CSAT removed and above factors. Still the gap would be 12-13 marks. With a score of 125-130 I think you are quite safe and would clear IFoS. Best of luck :)
