UPSC-2016 Notification released
- UPSC has released notification for civil services 2016 and forest services 2016 exam.
- 1079 vacancies. [100 less than last year, although more vacancies for PH this time- 34.)
- Last date to apply is 27th May 2016, midnight
- Online application link is upsconline.nic.in
- Apply at earlier because exam centers are first apply first allot basis.
- Prelim exam to be held on 7th August 2016. (How many days left- just watch the left hand corner green box of our website).

- Minimum age is 21 years.
- Age is counted on 1st August of 2015.
- Candidate already in IAS or Indian foreign service (IFS)- not eligible to appear.

Above relaxation are cumulative e.g. OBC candidate from J&K = 32 + 3(OBC) + 5 (J&K) = 40 years up age limit.
What doesn’t count as an attempt?
- Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
- If you fail in prelims, attempt is counted.

Can last semester student apply?
- Minimum education standard is graduation.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October/November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.

When will I get the hallticket/admit-card for prelims?
- Hall ticket will be available online, usually 3 weeks before prelim exam. They don’t send it through post anymore. You’ve to download and take printout.

Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.
OBC alert
To claim OBC reservation benefit in UPSC, you need TWO certificates:
- OBC caste certificate
- Non-creamy layer certificate.
- Non creamy layer status depends on your parents’ income and property.
- It doesn’t depend on your income/property
- It doesn’t depend on your husband/wife’s income/property.
- If your mom/dad is government employee, then INCOME criteria doesn’t apply. (e.g. if dad is class3 employee, then it doesn’t matter whether he gets 6 lakhs or 7 lakhs. You’re still non-cream layer.)

Why age counted upto August 2015 and graduation should be done by Nov 2015? I assume it a typing mistake.. Isn’t it?
Already 9 attempts are over for me, which includes the 2011 appearence also. Will i be getting an extra attempt for 2016 prelims? i havent appeared for 2012 prelims.

Nahi bhai, check upsc notification. It is as of 1st August 2015, NOT 2016.

I have received Only one certificate for OBC which contains caste resolution number & Non creamy layer status from Sub Divisional Officer.
Only one certificate is provided for the application for posts under Government Of India. [i.e. No two copies are provided].

Friends..m not getting one thing in notification..m doing state govt job..in upsc notification on page 14 at the very beginning..they have asked to submit an undertaking with upsc that candidate(on govt. Job) has informed his/her deptt about applying for upsc cse..bt problem is when n where n in which format one should submit undertaking with upsc?? Help me…any word f wisdom from Mrunal n other guys…

Above message displayed on upsconline.nic.in, when I tried to fill a form with your DOB, i.e. 12 Dec, 1980.
But you can apply for state civil services.
I am unable to fill the form. It does not gets continued from the page where Optional Subject and Center is chosen. Am I the only one having this problem?

I have An OBC certificate dated 21 Oct 2014…Should I needed to apply new one before applying for 2016 prelims??
It generally has 06 months validity. In case of SC/ST Certificate renewal is not required but in case of OBC Certificate renewal is required after every 06 months.
Further you can use the current OBC Certificate number while applying but in case you get selected for interview than during pre-interview document verification they will ask for OBC Certificate which is not older than 06 months. The format of OBC certificate also keeps on changing as new circulars/Gazette notifications are included so they (document Verifier) always insist on OBC Certificate not older than 06 months.

You can fill the form again. The form having higher RID will be accepted by UPSC.

1.Post of tax assessment officer in a local body (municipal council) falls under which group (A,B,C) .
2.if that govt employee (may be a group B as per your replies) is not fulfilling the criteria of falling in that 6 lakh income (of last three year) … then whether children of such person would be considered a non creamy layer obc candidate or not.

for government servant criteria is entering group A service by either parent before age 40 (income is of no consequence)..so check if and when your parent entered group A, you can file an RTI with relevant department for authentic information.
