- On 7th August 2016, UPSC had conducted preliminary exam for civil services aka CSAT.
- 16th September 2016, they’ve declared result= within 40 days. Seems a new record for UPSC!
- Total ~15,500 candidates qualified for Mains-2016 against 1,079 final vacancies. (15,445 to be precise.)

- Those who cleared prelims, need to fillup a new form online before mains. It’s called “Detailed Application form” (DAF).
- DAF will be available from 7th October to 20th October 6PM.
- Civil Service Mains to start from 3rd December 2016.
- Those who qualified – congratulations.
- Those who did not qualify- this is not the end of the world: Look at the right hand green box for the upcoming exams and for next year prelims, rectify for the lacunas in your strategy.
Cutoff marks not declared, YET
Unlike RAS prelims, UPSC has not revealed cutoffs marks of Prelim-2016 immediately after declaration of result.
Anyways, here are the cut-off marks in last prelims 2015:

Koi mujhe yeh batayo as I can manage only 6-7 hrs daily will it be sufficient for UPSC 2017?. Anyone with Agriculture optional :)
4-5 hrs is enough for prelims..give 3 months continuous prep and u will be thruu.. I cleared it in first attempt and working as branch manager in a nationalise bank.. hardly get 4-5 hrs for studiess…its not so toughh..n try to do smart prep not hard prep…think and analyse what upsc wants from u guyss…instead of mugging and coaching think and prepare smartlyy… I m getting around 120 and inn this timee.. Baaki all the best to u all

sir , i am working in CISF as a sub inspector. i always had dream of study in IIM and i have keen interest in econimics . i graduated in PHYSICS in 2013. can i still prepair and compet in cat with three year gap. i have scored 81% in matric , 62% in 12th , 62% in Bsc.
Hi Pankaj. When I came across your comment while going through the thread. Glad to see your interest in CAT. With the credentials you have, you would have to score fairly decent percentile to get a call. With regards to the gap, it generally doesn’t possess any issue as long as you are able to justify it in the interviews. I am one of the CISF wards and have converted IIMs last year.

Hii guys. After result declaration I am feeling so horrible. I got 112.63 marks(Shankar and vision) with general category but couldn’t success. This is same like last year when I got 100.63 marks but result is same like this time.
I don’t know what is the mistake done by me. So finally I have decided to avoid this line and look to another field
