In 2013, UPSC changed the syllabus-pattern of Mains examination and the number of general studies (GS) papers were increased from two to four. Out of them, GS Paper-2 deals with Polity, Governance, Welfare and International-Relations (IR).

  • 📰 Current affairs: Newspapers, Magazines.
  • 🔗 idsa.in/ and Rajyasabha TV debates’ utility is overrated. Because if you understand all the nuances of India’s foreign policy you will not be given sufficient time or space to elaborate all of that within 150-250 words.
  • Each year, IR is about 40-50 marks out of total 250 marks. That means 20% of the GS Mains paper 2. You should not be spending 80% of the time chasing that thing.
  • Even if you are planning to keep Indian Foreign Service (IFS) as your first preference → still, the UPSC interview panel is not going to grill you continuously for 30-45 minutes on only the questions related to Foreign Affairs. They’ll also ask you about DAF form, hobbies, graduation, Home state ke local issues etc. So, DONOT try to become a Foreign policy researcher/scholar at this stage.

    Today as I was studying from your book of Prelims previous years questions papers found an error in Section 2 of C section Polity Question no.111 of that section The question was came in year 2018 your a deer expalnation at back was correct but the answer was wrong.I immediately opened the your debatable MCQ article as this was of year 2018 I was sure that this question I will surely found in that article and it was there with the same expalnation as in book but with A.1 only as option officially by UPSC and in your book it was C.1and 2both.
