Prologue
- In UPSC CSAT 2013, General studies (GS) paper, 13 out of 100 questions were from Science.
| 2012 | 2013 |
| 9 | 13 |
| Majority from physics | Majority from biology. |
- Current affairs based question: only one =from Higgs boson.
- Few of them can be directly solved from NCERT Science, General Studies manual.
- Anyways, UPSC did ask plenty of “direct from the routine books” type questions in Economy, polity and Modern History: so can’t expect picnic everywhere hahaha.

Biology Health related
Tattoo
1. Which of the following diseases can be transmitted from one person to another through tattooing?
- Chikungunya
- Hepatitis B
- HIV-AIDS
Select the correct answer using the codes given below.
- 1 only
2 and 3 only- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
Hepatitis B and HIV are spread via Tattoing hence Indian Army had made rule that disqualified youngsters with tattoos on medical ground.
Chikungunya is not spread via tattooing.
Hence answer (B) 2 and 3 only.
Muscle contractions
2. Consider the following minerals
- Calcium
- Iron
- Sodium
Which of the minerals given above is/are required by human body for the contraction of muscles?
- 1 only
- 2 and 3 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
Calcium=necessary for muscle contraction (NIOS Science Lesson 25, Page9)
Sodium helps nerve cells send electrical signals to muscles for contraction. (Britannica)
Hence answer (D) 1 and 3 only. Or (A) only 1 (depending on the interpretation of UPSC examiner.)
Virus
3. Which of the following statements is / are correct?
- Viruses lack enzymes necessary for the generation of energy.
- Viruses can be cultured in any synthetic medium.
- Viruses are transmitted from one organism to another by biological vectors only.
Select the correct answer using the codes given below.
- 1 only
- 2 and 3 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
Statement#2 is wrong because
As per page 109-110 of Analytic techniques in Biotechnology TMH
…Since Viruses lack organelles and are totally dependent on the host cells metabolic machinery for replication, (hence) they cannot be grown in synthetic media. In laboratory, animal viruses are grown in Animals…plant viruses are grown in plants or plant cell culture.
Statement #3 is wrong because
As per page26 Studies in Viral Ecology: Animal Host Systems by Christon J. Hurst
- There are two categories of Vectors: biological and mechanical. As was stated earlier, if virus increases its number while in association with a vector, then that vector is termed as being biological.
- Conversely, the vector is termed to be mechanical, if virus doesn’t increase its number while in association with that vector…
- Arthropods such as wasps, which repeatedly can sting multiple animals, could serve as mechanical vectors by transporting viruses on the surface of their stingers.
Thus, #2 and #3 are wrong, eliminate choices accordingly
- 1 only
- 2 and 3 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
and we are left with answer (A) only 1.
Genetic Engineering
4. Recombinant DNA technology (Genetic Engineering) allows genes to be transferred
- across different species of plants
- from animals to plants
- from microorganisms to higher organisms
Select the correct answer using the codes given below.
- 1 only
- 2 and 3 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
#1 is correct
as per BBC article on Genetic Engineering
Golden rice is developed by transferring carrot genes to rice. the new variety of rice contains Vitamin “A”. Hence Statement #1 correct (across different species of plants)
#2 is correct
as per http://news.ucdavis.edu/search/news_detail.lasso?id=4812
In 1953, scientists discovered the structure of DNA, and in 1972, researchers developed a method for cutting and splicing DNA. That method became known as recombinant DNA, or rDNA. Since then, researchers have learned how to move genetic material in the form of DNA from one plant or animal to another. They can also take DNA from an animal and place it in a plant, and vice versa.
#3 is correct
TMH General studies manual, General science, Page 129, Topic #14.14
…..e.g. transfer of gene/s from bacteria to man or vice versa or from bacteria to a flowering plant.=>Statement #3 correct (from microorganism to higher organism)
Hence answer (D) 1,2 and 3 correct.
Biology: Botany/Agro related
Aflatoxin
1. Improper handling and storage of cereal grains and oilseeds result in the production of toxins known as aflatoxins which are not generally destroyed by normal cooking process. Aflatoxins are produced by
- bacteria
- protozoa
- moulds
- viruses
Aflatoxin is a mould produced by fungus that are toxic and carcinogenic. (IndianExpress)
Answer=(C)
Fruits, Cold storage
2.Fruits stored in a cold chamber exhibit longer storage life because
- exposure to sunlight is prevented
- concentration dioxide in the is increased of carbon environment
- rate of respiration is decreased
- there is an increase in humidity
Fruits and vegetables continue their metabolic activity after harvest…Metabolic Activity is manifested by respiration….Reduction of temperature is an effective means of reducing the rate of respiration. (Fundamentals of food process engineering, Page 402)
Hence Answer (C)
Seedlings
3. Many transplanted seedlings do not grow because
- the new soil does not contain favorable minerals
- most of the root hairs grip the new soil too hard
- most of the root hairs are lost during transplantation
- leaves get damaged during transplantation
Root hairs are extremely delicate, whether on a tree or a seedling. When transplanting young trees from a nursery to a woodland, damage to the roots and root hairs often leads to death of a tree. (Advanced Biology, Michael Kent, Page 279)
Hence Answer (C) (or debatable)
Desert Leaf
4. Which of the following leaf modifications occurs/occur in desert areas to inhibit water loss?
- Hard and waxy leaves
- Tiny leaves or no leaves
- Thorns instead of leaves
Select the correct answer using the codes given below.
- 1 and 2 only
- 2 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
- Page 530 of Physical Geography by Savindra Singh – “The vegetation of hot desert climate is xerophytic type which has special characteristics to withstand very high rate of evaporation. They have long roots, thick barks, waxy leaves, thorns and little leaves.”
- Also in Ch. 5 of NCERT 9th Std. Geo book (Page 46)
Hence Ans (D) all of above.
Physics
Ball bearings
1. Ball bearings are used in bicycles, cars, etc., because
- The actual area of contact between the wheel and axle is increased
- The effective area of contact between the wheel and axle is increased
- The effective area of contact between the wheel and axle is reduced
- None of the statements is correct
- Friction is independent of surface area of contact. (Pearson Objective Physics For AIEEE page 77)
- Rolling friction is smaller than the sliding friction, (therefore) sliding is replaced in most machines by rolling by the use of ball bearings. (NCERT Science, Class 8, Chapter 12, Page 153)
- Therefore, answer (D) none of the statements is correct (or may be the debatable.)
Optical illusions
2. Consider the following phenomena:
- Size of the sun at dusk
- Colour of the sun at dawn
- Moon being visible at dawn
- Twinkle of stars in the sky
- Polestar being visible in the sky
Which of the above are optical illusions?
- 1, 2 and 3
- 3, 4 and 5
- 1, 2 and 4
- 2, 3 and 5
TMH General Studies Manual, General Science > Physics, Page 25. Following things happen due to Atmospheric refraction
- When the sun or moon is near horizon, it appears elliptical i.e. with vertical diameter less than the horizontal diameter =>Statement #1 is correct.
- Twinkling of stars =>statement #4 is correct.
Hence answer must contain both #1 and #4. Eliminate the choices accordingly
- 1, 2 and 3
- 3, 4 and 5
- 1, 2 and 4
- 2, 3 and 5
Thus we are left with answer C.
Rainbow
3. Rainbow is produced when sunlight falls on drops of rain.
Which of the following physical phenomena are responsible for this?
- Dispersion
- Refraction
- Internal reflection
Select the correct answer using the codes given below.
- 1 and 2 only
- 2 and 3 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
NCERT Science Class 10, Chapter 11, Page 194
A rainbow is always formed in a direction opposite to that of the Sun. The water droplets act like small prisms. They refract and disperse the incident sunlight, then reflect it internally, and finally refract it again when it comes out of the raindrop Due to the dispersion of light and internal reflection, different colours reach the observer’s eye
Hence all 3 correct=>Answer (D)
Forces of Nature
4. The known forces of nature can be divided into four classes, viz, gravity, electromagnetism, weak nuclear force and strong nuclear force. with reference to them, which one of the following statements is not correct?
- Gravity is the strongest of the four
- Electromagnetism act only on particles with an electric charge
- Weak nuclear force causes radioactivity
- Strong nuclear force holds protons and nutrons inside the nuclear of an atom.
Refer to the table given on NCERT Physics Class11, Chapter1, Page 10
| Name | Relative strength |
| Gravitational force | 10-39 |
| Weak nuclear force | 10-13 |
| Electromagnetic force | 10-2 |
| Strong nuclear force | 1 |
- As you can see, Gravity is the weakest of them all. Hence statement #A is definitely incorrect
- And the question wants us to identify the wrong statement, hence Answer = (A)
Higgs Boson
5. The efforts to detect the existence of Higgs boson particle have become frequent news in the recent past. What is /are the importance/importance of discovering this particle?
- It will enable us to understand as to why elementary particles have mass.
- It will enables us in the near future to develop the technology to transferring matter from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them.
- It will enable us to create better fuels for nuclear fission.
Select the correct answer using the codes given below:
- 1 only
- 2 and 3 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 1, 2 and 3
The Higgs Boson gives idea on how each particle has mass. It doesn’t give better fuels for nuclear fission or for inter-space travel. (or atleast I did not find it on the internet.)
Ans: (A) (or perhaps C or D hahaha)
Only one topic remains: EnB answerkeys. They’ll be uploaded soon + thanks Mr. Shiva Ram and Mr. Siriyal Patel for inputs.

Questions asked this year were really tricky=upsc emphasizing conceptual aspects=bane for rot learners. Therefore concepts should be emphasized = can be achieved via careful study and frequent revisions.
Thank You Mrunal Sir for this diligent work, please guide for Mains 2013.Thanking You….
@ball bearing
but why is rolling friction less than sliding friction?,,;)
Friend ! In Rolling friction, there is point contact between the objects(less surface area is in contact) whereas in sliding friction, it is area contact(more surafce is in contact).
The maximum friction a body can experience is dependent of weight of body, which is F=uN where u=coeffiecient of friction and N= Normal force which is generally weight of the body. Friction force is independent of Surface Area. The maximum friction If a body is at rest it is actually experiencing is experienced during sliding. For e.g. a body at rest experiences no friction. In case of rolling there is no sliding and the friction experienced is much less than this maximum value. It has nothing to do with contact area. This is how friction works.
Earlier comment has some typo so i am retyping it.

Friction force is independent of Surface Area. The maximum friction is experienced during sliding e.g. a body at rest experiences no friction if there is no external force on it. friction is independent of area of contact. In rolling friction the frictional force actually helps in rolling whereas in sliding it opposes the sliding! So why does the wheel stop once it starts rolling (as friction is infact supporting its rolling motion? The answer is the little deformation that takes place at the contact between wheel and the ground which makes the point of contact to a small rectangle of contact . the moment this happens there starts an opposing torque (equivalent of force but in rotational terms) due to different normal reactions at different points of the rectangle.
:)
i think it is too much of a simplification to asseverate “surface area as inconsequential to friction”…I see pressure playing a decisive role here..how???? ..think of this…increase in area of contact bw two surfaces yields more friction( as friction is basically “attractive force bw two surfaces”) but here the pressure( as pressure=force /area) decreases, thereby offsets friction….think of a different orientation, say a slab on edge where area of contacts are minimal, here no such offsetting force sets in,as area is already depressed. And if we somehow manage to increase the friction with increasing surface area, keeping the pressure constant,we get more friction and it has been scientifically demonstrated, hence it punctures right into the heart of this timeworn empiricism of friction being independent to surface Area…
@Machintosh
“Friction is independent of surface area of contact”.
@Nikhil
see this
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_Rolling_friction_is_much_less_than_sliding_friction
What to infer from this link? Answer is C or D?
Sliding friction : friction acts against the direction of motion.
Rolling friction : frictions acts in the direction of motion and thus helps the motion.
IRON part of the protein myoglobin in muscles which make oxygen available for muscle contraction;
SOURCE:http://www.healthvarietyshow.com/health-vitamins.shtml
i have marked sodium and calcium only
Studies have demonstrated that muscles tire more quickly in iron-deficient laboratory animals and that restoration of normal iron levels normalizes muscle contraction stamina.
souce:http://www.bastyrcenter.org/content/view/814/
iron improves endurance of muscle, does not directly help in muscle contraction…if you think that way you would find several elements as cofactors
thanks man 2.66 marks for me now :-)
Hey ppl… For minerals question…Iron does play a role in muscle contraction….it is found in Haemoglobin and Myoglobin…Haemoglobin – Oxygen carryin to cells and Myoglobin – Oxgen carryin to muscle tissues for contraction..so our body requires Iron for proper contraction….in question they never mentoioned direct or indirect role…. whether our body requires or not thats it…. don complicate….ill send pdf

All correct! Yeah!
awesome Arin….
Plz share your strategy for science section…
Since chickengunya is a viral disease then it must spread via the blood of the chickengunya infected person durin tattooin .BUT WHY ALL KEY ANSWERS ARE EXCLUDIN IT WITHOUT ANY EXACT EXPLANATION
Chikungunya is a Vector borne disease i.e. it is transmitted through a vector
Chikengunya virus does not survive for long time out side our body/blood…same is the case why HIV doesn’t get transmitted via mosquitoes..
Durin tattooin there are chances of comin in contact with fresh blood infected with chickengunya so why it should need the help of mosquito again to infect when the new person comes directly in contact with the blood of chickengunya infected person
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a virus, of the genus Alphavirus, that is transmitted to humans by virus-carrying Aedes mosquitoes.
See following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chikungunya
Chikengunya virus spread only through mosquito..because life cycle of chickengunya virus completed in mosquito gut. as we also know Viruses lack organelles and are totally dependent on the host cells metabolic machinery for replication.. hence mosquito gut act as host for chickngunya virus to grow.
Yes but when tattooin is done fresh blood of chickengunya infected person could come in contact with the blood of a healthy person thereby causin chickengunya to that person also .right ?bec the virus is already present in the infected person blood so need for it to develop again in a new mosquitoes gut
The mosquito gut is the nursery for the ckga virus to grow but here durin tattooin we are directly allowin the virus to enter new host without ANY help of the mosquito
If Mrunal is free i hope he can clarify it or somebody else .i will really appreciate it
Question No. 2 on Muscle contraction
Hence answer (D) 1 and 3 only. Or (A) only 1 (depending on the interpretation of UPSC examiner.)
Correction : Hence Answer should be either (C) or (A).
Option – (D) should not be an answer
what about iron?net article mention iron playing a part in muscle contraction
Its a typo mistake. Correct answer choice is (C) 1 AND 3 only.
answer is 1 , if we Na is also correct than Fe also be there , if Na & Fe correct than , all biological functions will require each element and there will be no meaning of such questions , so be sure about Ca is correct answer.
was surprised to see the treatment of bearing question. seems you have considered the superficial explanation from a AIEEE (12th standard) book but if you see the microlevel treatment of friction, it depends on the type of surface and also on the amount of surface in contact. but if you stick youself to the question refer this
http://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/engines-equipment/bearing3.htm
if you are aware of the basic minimum of the geometry, you will know that, for a given radius its sphere that occupies the minimum surface area. so bearing works on the principle of the minimum area of contact. it was surprising to see that you considered the friction part of the question and to the bearing (lol and funny)
“Since the ball is a sphere, it only contacts the inner and outer race at a very small point, which helps it spin very smoothly. But it also means that there is not very much contact area holding that load, so if the bearing is overloaded, the balls can deform or squish, ruining the bearing.”
mrunal still the answers to questions like molasses and water pollutants are pending.please provide the answers
Yes, that’s right. Higgs boson only gives credit to s.m. The implication of finding it are still unknown.
As shown in the Discovery HD Show also.
100p.c sure.
& I got only 1 question wrong in SnT
A.L.S note’s say that rainbow is t.i.r + refraction. It says nothing about dispersion
Regarding the Ball bearing question- you need not confuse it with friction. Examiner played a trick here.
Ball bearings tend to have lower load capacity for their size than other kinds of rolling-element bearings due to the smaller contact area between the balls and races. Hence Answer is C.
Yeah, you right brother, answer must be ‘C’
Yea. I also read this in wiki. Answer is C
Answer is indeed C.
@Mrunal : Coefficient of friction and thus frictional force is directly dependent on the actual area of surface contact. That is the reason why extra smooth surfaces(like glass) have maximum friction between them. More surface area — > more cohesive\adhesive forces –> more friction. Your statement that area of contact is irrelevant to force of friction is incorrect.
Okay.. I have a doubt that if the whole purpose of using the ball bearings is to reduce the surface area then can we use metal spokes instead of ball bearings as this will have same area of contact(or even less)?
They won’t be able to bear such heavy loads
Answer is D. friction doesnot depend upon area of contact. wikipedia article only says the low area of contact causes lower load bearing capacities. Hence for high load applications roller/plain bearings are used instead of ball bearing.
my comment is still in moderation :) i agree wid u ans is C my explanation is here

The correct Ans for HIGGS boson Q is 1,2,3 can be interpreted from this article
http://howmanyarethere.net/how-many-new-discoveries-will-higgs-boson-help-to-make-for-the-world/
Nothing in this article talks about nuclear fission. But except A statement 3 is present in all the other options. So, it has to be A
It will enables us in the near future to develop the technology to transferring matter from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them.
It is just the explanation for ‘teleportation’
So the ans has to be A,B,C
The exact sentence from the article is this:
Higgs Boson is NOT A MAIN ITEM that will open the way for teleportation but it will help to understand about mass, item and travel in time and space.
Rest is upto to UPSC to infer
2nd option “near future” seems highly improbable even in 50 years
so you mean to say that “Time Machine” is in the offing !!
Dear friend ! The options in the questions uses some universal or rather it would be better to say some strict words like ” it will enable” which indicates a surity in the future, which is defintely unguaranteed for.The sole purpose of the experiment as defined in the CERN website is to Know about the cause of mass( what gives the matter mass?).It may or may not enable us in teleportaion or other matters but there is no guarantee. so the other options are wrong. But The first option being the sole objective of the experiment is anyhow correct.

But The first option being the sole objective of the experiment is anyhow correct.
Bro the cern experiment is itself not totally convincing so we are entitled to think that it will help develop better fission fuels bec it deals with basic concept of atoms and its mass
but the second option goes against the fundamentals of basic science bec no matter with mass can be transported withou havin to travel the physical space between the points of travel
if thats possible then everybody wants to be transported to their girlfriend bedroom directly:-P
I mean if the second option is possible
the finding of higgs would give us a better understanding of the atom and the equation concerning its stability . nuclear fission is in regards to fracturing and stability of atoms . so in future with clearer picture of atom it would be possible for us to find new isotopes for fission or make it possible to find new ways of fracturing stable elements thereby creating new fuels for nuclear fission. making option 3 to b correct
I think there are references with Higgs Boson and nuclear fusion. Please refer the link below:
http://news.discovery.com/space/history-of-space/what-is-the-higgs-boson.htm
The option was regarding “Fission” and not “Fusion”.
Exactly. That’s why it will be A because the all the other options had statement 3 as right.
in breeder reactor better picture of atom could optimize creation of fissionable isotope
Yes. You can say this can happen. But all these are only possibilities. Look at the question. The statements are absolute. The statement says it will happen and that means according to the statement there is universal evidence which isn’t the case.
Bingo !!! As simple as that :)
yeah only mass option is right. 2nd one is BS and 3rd one though is debatable if you go deep but for UPSC, it is wrong :). Too deep jaane ka aukaat nahin hain UPSC ko in prelims.
Everyone is simply wrong. It is UPSC who will decide what the heck the discovery of Higgs boson will do and will not do. They have taken arrogant randomness to a new level this year with a number of questions debatable and no clear cut answer available even after scanning load of authentic materials.
in question 4 thorns r not a modification of leaves. instead spines are. thats what i checked in class 12 biology book.
correctly pointed out saurabh… a thorn is not a modified leaf…mrunal ji pls clarify…
Dear mohib chikengunya, dengue, malaria is spread via mosquitoes only in a simple words if a mosquito is bit a AIDS person the same mosquito bits another person will he be infected by AIDS no similarly chikengunya still the biggest enemy called “Doubt” means please ask me
Dear Mrunal,
I wrote CSAT 2013 for Indian Forest Service.
Could you tell whether there ll be any different method of selection for IFoS?
Will the cut off be higher/lower than that of IAS?
A general discussion, review and analysis of the exam n cut off will b very welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Ankita the cut off for IFS will definitely 10-20 marks lower than IAS ……. i expect cut off for IAS will be 200-210.
thank you for your guidence
Thank You Mrunalji
Mrunal you are right in quoting Pearson that “Rolling friction is smaller than the sliding friction, (therefore) sliding is replaced in most machines by rolling by the use of ball bearings”
However the very reason rolling friction is smaller than sliding friction is because effective area of contact is reduced to almost a point. In other words “The effective area of contact between the wheel and axle is reduced”
But what about this point: Friction is independent of surface area of contact?
Thats the reason why Mrunal sir has already marked it as “or may be the debatable.”
ofcourse friction is independent of the area of contact .
but in ball bearings coeff of rolling friction comes in which is smaller than sliding and static frictions coeff. But this fact doesnt constitute any given option.
However, wrt to Qs asked in prelims its answer has to be inline with the given options wherein option C clearly envisages a desired result. It has to be thought in consonance with the fact that Ball bearings tend to have lower load capacity for their size than other kinds of rolling-element bearings due to the smaller contact area.
Hence option C appears to be a stronger contender than D.ans should be C IMCO.
friction is independent of area of contact.
:)
sliding friction area plays no role it is mass. but for roling friction area comes into preview hence area option seems correct . ex perfect rolling occurs in deflated tire of bike yet it very difficult to push a deflated bike than an inflated one. it is also the reason why train have better efficiency than cars
Rolling friction is less not because of area of contact but because the relative motion at point of contact is zero (theoretically, in ideal rolling there is no friction at all). friction comes into picture when there is tendency of relative motion.
Believe me, i have one my thesis in tribology from IIT Bombay and i have specialization in this area ;)
“The effective area of contact between the wheel and axle is reduced” certainly occurs but the small area means load bearing capacity is less. so i stand correred
spot on
Now everyone should understand that the answer is c. The link is http://www.ehow.com/how-does_5032819_ball-bearings-reduce-friction.html. pls visit and u can get a brief explanation
Why is mrunal confused and confusing. The answer is plainly and simply C.
UPSC did not frame this question to open a debate about the mechanism of the Rolling and Sliding Friction. They simply wanted us to tick C and only C.
well ok let us take a case in which all the balls are welded to each other so that they cannot roll. Now compare it with the case were the balls are allowed to roll (as in real ball bearings). Load, surface area (pressure etc) are all same in both case. the only difference is that in one rolling takes place and in other sliding takes place. rest you can infer i guess. hence the answer should be none as surface area does not play a role here.
I don’t think UPSC will complicate this much. The answer C is straightforward as given in eHow.com. All scerarios can be discussed but UPSC will keep it simple. Remember that prelims is very basic.
Correct. Simple.
That is how far UPSC van get. Everybody attempting the paper is not a physics enthusiast who will wreck each and every corner of the friction concept and come out with a proper eclectic answer.
friction does not depend on area is “very basic”.any way you are welcome to believe what you want! in the end upsc wud decide the answer ,not me not you neither the wiki nor the e-how:)
@ Sachin : when you say friction is independent of surface area it means sliding friction in general. You should not compare rolling friction and sliding friction. That is why rolling friction is dealt separately with respect to sliding friction
good literature search and analysis Mrunal, thanks for your efforts!!!
Thanks for your update with explain.. it will useful for other exam
Is there any book to read science and technology? Cause I have found none…it is such a vast subject that any number of books is insufficient. …..
The most plausible thing to do is to follow The Hindu science tech and forget about everything else. You cannot answer every single question and you do not have to :)
MrunalBhai….I think once when Total internal reflection takes place there will not be any refracted light. So dispersion and TIR are the two processes responsible for Rainbow!!
When the light enters the spherical raindrop, is it not refracted ?
Your analysis of the questions is amazing sir!
Superb work.
Hey ppl, for Minerals question Iron does help in muscle contraction….Iron is present in Haemoglobin and Myoglobin…Haemoglobin – Oxygen carrying to cells and Myoglobin- Oxygen carrying to muscle tissues for contraction…. in question they never asked for direct or indirect role..whether our body requires iron or not for contraction… so answr must be all a,b and c… n check out this

mrunal bhai..the article on recombiant dna said..”it can move dna from one plant or animal to another”..not from a an animal to plant!..plants can’t accept animal dna!..they’re not even in the same knigdom!..hence statement 2 is wrong!
What are the expected cut offs for both civil and forest …
http://mythoughtsontechnologyandjamaica.blogspot.in/2013/01/higgs-boson-discovery-is-biggest.html
answer must be D
This article talks about nuclear fusion and Higgs Boson. There is no mention of nuclear fission whereas the question says about better fuels for fission. So it must be A
y m not able to comment?
