I’ve closed the comment system, because aspirants wasting too much time in debate, rather than studying.

Many people getting server down error, so try it later.
Warning
- For entering date of birth while downloading admit card: select year first, then month and then date in the end..else it will not get selected.
- any discrepancy in name, parent’s name, photo then send mail to web-upsc@nic.in
- You’ve to tick OMR answers only in BLACK pen. Otherwise you paper will not will evaluated.
- I recommend you bring clipboard. Reason: Sarkaari colleges and highschools have benches have rough surface and holes. It’ll “injure” your OMR sheet while you’re marking answer in black pen.
- if you’ve applied twice, then Use HIGHER REGISTRATION number while downloading the hallticket.
- If your hallticket doesn’t have clear photo/signature, you will have to bring a photo identity proof viz. Adhar Card, Driving License, Passport, Voter I Card etc. and two passport size photographs one for each paper with an undertaking.
- Save your own hallticket PDF file in google drive. So there is no fear of misplacing/forgetting roll number.

Mrunal Ji, itna lamba status quo to rbi bhi nahi apnata, kuchh to publish karo sir ji…
Ans is 2400000 . Final step is 15x/96 + x/2 = 63x/96 therefore 63x/96 * 1575000 = 24 lac
While assuming answer think 2400000 containing 12 lac (i.e 24/2) plus one more value which is 15th part of 96
1.Is it a matter of language?
2. Is it a matter of translation?
3. Is it a matter of appearance of English medium/Engineering/Management students?
If its a matter of language, then question paper is set in English and Hindi and Hindi medium students are facing problems then where are the other regional language students stand, just imagine but they are mute.
Also they are not happy with the question which are asked, like syllogism, family relation, decision making (heard when visited Mukharjee Nagar for a book) and the logic they give “kya DM ban ke hamein ye karna hai ki Sita kahan baithi hai aur sabhi mej kursi hai :-)”. It shows they don’t know why these questions are asked or they are making an excuse which will fall in one hearing. About comprehension which is about 30-35 question they complain the language is not understandable. Then its not the headache of anyone. If anyone believe that because their conversation is in Hindi so they know Hindi very well is utter false. They should increase the vocabulary in the same fashion as English student does by reading newspaper/magazines because meaning of pollination in Hindi is and will be “paragan” and its not tough because you don’t know.
2. If its a matter of translation then say how many word or questions but it is ridiculous to say the whole paper is wrong. Its a human error can be rectified then question comes when? and answer is when you bring the details in the light either via judiciary or executive, but you waited till final result even if there is discrepancies so there is no point to shout just few weeks before the examination. Just ask if any changes come on your shout then what about to all those aspirants who are practicing since a year.
3. If it implies the third then you are violating the Art 16 pf Indian constitution. Engineering/Management/Science students face problems because a number of subjects are not in list which can be taken as optional. After reading Engineering/Management/Science subject they read all the humanities subject and when they grab enough marks then people says GEOGRAPHY, PUBLIC AD, PHILOSOPHY etc easy for them. Even the pattern changes they will be upper hand and this is not because they are intelligent but because they practice (Set) a lot since 12th upto degree (In one semester in one subject 45 classes about 20 tutorials and 5/6 presentation-IIT) and you people jumps from this coaching notes to that coaching this book to that book and aspire 100% they read only for 70% and also they are now rushing towards UPSC so even for them there is tough competition among them. Your empire can be saved by only one way, just practice more otherwise infiltration is on high speed.
ONLY ONE PROBLEM IS THERE, VERY LESS AMOUNT OF AUTHENTIC, RELIABLE , MATERIAL(BOOK/MAGAZINE) FOR HINDI MEDIUM FRIENDS AND HEAVY AMOUNT OF COACHING NOTES…
GOOD LUCK TO ALL,,,keep practicing
one more thing i’ll add….. they (the agitators) are being incited by their coaching centers, i remember watching a program in NDTV, all Hindi coaching wallahs were there, and they were literally encouraging them in what they were doing, and yes one of the Idiot “sir” of one famous coaching center was explaining how the questions which are asked are useless and was telling (ordering) the UPSC as to which questions should be asked!!! baccho ko pada nahi sakte toh UPSC ko blame karo……. BULL SHIT!!
Mine AB+ve ;)
Means ab i m positive :D
Where are you mrunal??
Mukherjee nagar main kuch problem ho gayi hai kya.. anybody plz reply asap..
The agitated students burned down two buses and a police booth in nearby Nehru Vihar area, a police official said.
At least 50 students were detained and taken to a police station, while a few injured students were taken to a hospital.
Officials said a few police personnel were also injured in the incident.
People who have decided that the exam will be postponed and der will be some changes are preparing for mains…and people who have decided that the exam will not be postponed and der will not be any changes are preparing for prelims….and people who are in a dilemma are wasting time here like me…;)
Arnab newshour is bjp mouthpiece. When he bashing bjp for falling to protestors demand,it was clear indication that bjp next tactic is to let pro csat lobby build momentum. Everyone is thinking ball is in government court but the opposite is true. one more proof is abvp citing anti sibbal slogans. They accomplished their first step, second step was accomplished today when protestors were cleared off the site. Third step is delay tactic n drama of upsc bjp tussle. If you still cant comprehend whats cooking, your politics is too weak.
My politics is very weak, can you please project 4th, 5th etc steps? So that I can prepare accordingly?
All these so called protesting aspirants is more of a sham … Most of these buggers are from ABVP , who have absolutely nothing else to do.. The issue of 8 English questions has been blown out of proportion .. It pains me to see who any fukkr in India can sit on protests and get his away.. The bigger issue is that the govt in power always instead of resolving the problems, looks to cash in on the side which would help it better… The aptitude paper is an absolute certainty, this is the “INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE”… Not Bihar , UP, TN, etc… The people in power must not denigrate the UPSC more.. It is an semi- autonomous constitutional body and must be respected… But sadly as has been the culture, with DP AGARWAL all set to retire in 2 weeks time, some stooge will be put in his place and anything can b done.. Ppl in power shud be fukking ashamed of themselves
UPSC protesters torch buses, police booth in Delhi!

When an UPSC aspirant resorts to such measure it’s a failure of the total system. Had the UPSC made prelims for all(not only for engineers ), had ministers not given false promises to students (about postponing the exam and removing CSAT), had it not became a political issue (so we could rationally think over it ), i can only wish…
CSAT row may disrupt U.P. PCS exam schedule
Jul 30, 2014 11:21 PM , By Sandeep Joshi | 0 comments
The ongoing controversy over UPSC’s CSAT format for the prestigious IAS examination might now impact the schedule for the U.P. Public Service Commission (UPPSC)’s Provincial Civil Services (PCS) exam with leading political parties, including the ruling Samajwadi Party, demanding its postponement till the matter is resolved in New Delhi.
Students, mainly from northern states, who have been staging protests have urged Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to ensure that the PCS exams that are to be held from August 3 are deferred till the CSAT issue is resolved. They have urged the former U.P. Chief Minister to impress upon UPPSC on the issue as their preparations for the exam have been hit by ongoing protests in Delhi and also in some cities in UP. It is learnt that Mr. Yadav has assured the students that he would take up the matter with the UPPSC officials.
The BJP’s state unit has also written to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav demanding that the exam be postponed. In his letter to the Chief Minister, U.P. BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai said the state government needed to play an active role in the matter as the UPPSC has also introduced a pattern similar to CSAT in the PCS exam.
However, the Samajwadi Party has told the BJP that instead of asking the State government anything on the issue, it should ask the BJP-led coalition government run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre to immediately resolve the issue which was affecting the lives of several students from U.P. and other Hindi-speaking States.

Difference between Rank1 and Rank 3, CSE 2013 –
Rank 1 Gaurav Agrawal @crazyphoton – Philanthropist – Interacts with candidates/aspirants personally on his blog!!
Rank 3 Rachit Raj – http://99dollarholidays.com/iasdreampay/payu.php?utm_source=MailingList&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=UPSC
It is for you to decide the rest…
hahaha! people r using success like ths!!!, ygaurav sir is so humble, helping evryone free of cost, full marks 2 him 4 his ethics.nd mr rachit raj,i dnt knw how he scored well in ethics, who himself is so low in tht area.he shd hv helped evryone free of cost.
look at the site address “99dollorholiday” :D
So this is the prize of getting 3rd rank, after his marriage he will again do a webinar and it will be “990dollorHoneymoon” ;)
Hey hey Guys. I think we are being too harsh. Do not use such terms like on his honeymoon etc. It is his right to make money via legitimate means and ways. What our problem is with Rachit? we guys spend lacs on coaching institutes right from class 11th. Then why this hypocrisy. It is his personal prerogative whether to give advice in free or charge. Whoever wants to join that webinar will do so and those who do not want will not.
Obviously Gaurav Sir is doing a very good job. But just because Rachit is charging some fee gives us no right to demonize him. So this is my humble request to resist from using such language.I hope u guys get my point
LOL!! GAZAB DIFFERENCE!!
highest scorer in Mains + Essay … i am sure he cant sure 796 out of 1000 in Mains …. Nice marks though .. but advertisement is misleading
i think his interview marks is 138, i m not sure just saw this on forum IAS
yup its 138 confirmed!
Now one thing is clear, writing skill is more important, it doesnt matter whthr you have interaction skill or not :*

Union Public Service Commission will have its
full bench meeting on Monday to deliberate the
students agitation against the English test in
CSAT.
An internal note circulated among UPSC
members has resolved unanimously reject the
students demand of withdrawal of the English
comprehension test.
Senior members of UPSC feel that a mafia of
private tutorial colleges are behind this
students’ agitation. The UPSC decision will be
final and that is not governed by the Union
government
Source(forum ias,analysis by senior IFS
officer)
Initially the govt. was sympathetic to the
problem of protesting students and asked
UPSC to postpone the exam. The Arvind
Varma Committee (AVC) was also requested
to expedite its work but being a court
appointed committee, it couldn’t be forced.
UPSC, unanimously is opposed to the
demands of agitators. The biggest issue they
have raised is their inability to delay mains
(which will delay training – not enough
flexibility in schedules).
Apparently, govt. stance has changed
recently after concerned politicians were
shown that the hindi translations are in fact,
correct and only English passages, of
extremely basic level. On declining number
of hindi candidates, it has been pointed out
that the trend is a long term one going back
to pre-CSAT era. Although this trend is
dangerous, it is a result of several factors
like the lack of quality material in Hindi,
increasing number of English candidates etc.
It is likely that AVC might suggest minor or
no changes in the current pattern with a
suggestion to form another high level
committee to look into the issue of declining
number of hindi candidates. In any case, no
major changes expected this year.
With protesters resorting to violence, the
govt is not too happy with them. The current
date is very much likely to stand. If some
people are awarded extra attempts, there
might be a special window of a week or so
for them to fill their forms. Very little
chances of any postponement. Govt. unlikely
to make any statement before the report
comes out.

At least, UPSC is aware of the false claims of
incorrect translation. Whatever happens,
some people seem to be aware of the facts.
That is good.
In reply to all heart throbbing discussion going on recently :)
jotted my thoughts here after getting quite furious: http://dontscrapcsat.wordpress.com/2014/07/31/my-opinion-about-the-whole-csat-issue-part-1/
kudos to gaurav aggarwal for his helping nature,he has proven he has service nature….but it is sad that the same is not true with some/few toppers..only god knows how these people are getting selected.
Hi Mrunal, when r u going to resume current affair articles ??
Do I need to produce NOC at the time of interview of SSC CGL.? I m working in a PSU and I mentioned it in my application form(my stupidity). Now I just learnt that I would not get an NOC from my employer.please answer….depressed..IT WAS ALL MY MISTAKE DUE TO MY LACK OF KNOWLEDGE….
By coming out on to the streets, are the protesters suggesting that they lack the essential life-skills, rather than show a willingness to take any test as a challenge of prowess and attitude?

CSAT is basic aptitude test , no idea why people lack in it , aspire to become IAS .
most of the leaders are trying to fulfill there political desire on the name of CSAT,
Now its the correct time to introduce Big Boss with sunny leone so they can watch and discuss whole day only about big boss and we can study in peace.
correct .
UPSC shd not bend to these demands :) seriours aspirants are still preparing (irrespective of medium ) , their aim is clear to get through .
What an idea SIrjee.
Little Change of mood while everyone of us are discussing over futility or indispensableness of CSAT
—-
Percentage of engineers finally recommend for Civil Services by the UPSC for the last 5 yrs – 2007-2012 :- as per annual report by UPSC
2007 – 29%
2008 – 28%
2009 – 31%
2010 – 40%
2011 – 46%
:) :) :)
and don’t kill the messenger… I’m not taking any side……………..
enjoy the doldrums and government’s wavering before any concrete information on CSAT comes out…………..
person with the highest desirable skill should be selected, no matter whthr his background is medical, engineering, arts, commerce
A medical and engineering student have equal right to appear in the examination, If they are getting selected thn its not there fault,
And for more info This year total 9 student out of top 100 belongs to engineering background, only one of them choose engg as optional,
rest got selected after reading humanities subject as optional,
If a humanity student cant study humanity thn its not a engineers fault.
Baki jo aap Thik smjhe
There should be equal chance for everyone.
One more thing i got to know from your post . even before CSAT they reached 40% mark in total selection
Quite interesting :) :)
hahahaha well done buddy………………
and that got me thinking — if CSAT is the only thing giving unfair advantage to the engineers… why was there a 9% increase from 2009 to 2010 (31 to 40%), in engineers getting recommended , without any CSAT) ? ??????. and then with CSAT in 2011 the percentage increase was only 6% from 2010 to 2011 (40 to 46%)
I’m just confused……………………..:) :) because number of engineers encroaching the space of “truly deserving” aspirants seems to be increasing and continues to remain substantial even without CSAT
So I think solution lies not only in scrapping CSAT but also barring any engineering degree holder from writing the CSE :):):)
Lol, BTW it will be a nice demand to ban engineering student, fir jaise bakiyo ko CSE halwe k jaise parosa jayega :D
is BAR 100 % :)
Reason is more no. of Engineering colleges. More no. of seats. IITs increased during this period. While it used to be only 3000-5000 seats it is almost 10000+ now. Seats in NITs also increased manifolds. Hence the engineering students in the competition increased and so is their success. And it is this crop which graduated after the seats in IITs increased from 3000 in 2006-07, who are competing. P.S. that is how I analyse any question and situation getting to the basics. deductive reasoning.
do we need to attest 2014 k admit cards?
Listen frnds..to solve the problem regarding upsc..why not we shuld do a survey…the peole supporting csat..and people who do not..atleast we can tell the govt…no one is doing this type of work..so why not we start..I requir support from all of u..and of course Mrunal Guruji…without ur help..it is impossiblr..plz reply…
Mrunal Guruji Guide us..
Mrunal…..
Will there be signature on HT??
>> If your hallticket doesn’t have clear photo/signature, you will have to bring a photo identity proof >>
It doesnt seem so….any one please clarify..if there is our signature on HT..i could not find my signature on my HT
UPSC has asked Delhi Police for coverage in Delhi on 24.08.2014, as per somebody.
So, it is clear that dre will not be postponement of csat.
Guys….concentrate on studies….rather than waiting for postponement notification.
some irksome ppl r spreading rumours to deviate serious candidates……..
Best of luck, everybody….
Ufff..I am trying hard to concentrate but this issue sometime does disturb the rhythm..I just hope that the clarity comes from the government soon..Mrunal is there anyway not to see the comment column on your site..

Hello frds,
Just came back home from mukherjee nagar, I saw d whole market was closed as per d order of the police. But wat hurt me d most was dat today Sho timarpur took some 200 constables and literally BUTCHERED d ppl from dere homes n even broke their doors n lock. Also last night protesters torched d police chow ki of gandhi nagar , vehicles etc n also beat some policemen.
I just request to all fellow beings dat lets not fight n should all try for some amicable solution. If not for ur self atleast think for ur parents sake.
Please leave dis violence n let us together find d solution.
Kartik dear the only solution lies is for the government to come clear on the issue..it is these politicians who has made the situation worse..nothing would have happened if JITENDRA SINGH on 15th July dealt with it adroitly.. frankly to bring any significant changes in the structure in this session is very difficult considering the tight schedule of upsc..he should have somehow persuaded the candidates that the changes cannot be brought in this year and all there demands will be met next year (in concurrence with verma committee and upsc)..
but what he did gave assurance that exam will be postponed and what not..it raised the expectations of the supporter of the movement and then on 24th july after upsc came out with admit card it was quite a natural reaction to be angry but unfortunately it took a violent turn..
On the question whether upsc is such a saint organization last year when they first introduced 100 marks compulsory english paper in the mains it was immediately removed after it was vehemently opposed by most of the parliamentarians ..then also they should have stick to it..moreover it was bjp MPs which mostly revolted the introduction of that english paper..why can’t government and upsc now resolve the issue quickly i am unable to understand…I just hope and want this uncertainity to end..
exam postponed atleast for next reserve date of upsc (dopt sources)
The generalization that the CSAT paper being biased against regional language aspirants itself is flawed. Because as an aspirant from Kannada medium (can be generalized to aspirants taking exam in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi etc.), I do not get question paper in my own medium of answering. I should look at either english or hindi medium question papers. By translating those compulsory English comprehensions into Hindi, are you going to make level playing field for everyone…? Surely no. You are only giving edge to Hindi aspirants over other regional language players… This is completely Hindi lobby. If they do any changes now, we will be forced to protest either on streets infront of dholpur house or in parliament… By that govt will have to make corrections again to form level playing field. In my opinion this level playing field itself is an illusion. There may be increase of 1 or 2% Hindi candidates in selection list, but elites from Engg. and medical background are certain to form major portion of selection list because of their talent, not cheap politics…..
Now thats what i call a good comment, Good luck brother
Work Hard!
Bitter truth……
well I commented the same yesterday but some how it did not pass the moderation phase I guess, well trying my luck again,
I don’t know why ppl assume that a engineering and science background student with good knowledge of English will automatically do well in CSAT, I am from engineering background and have a decent knowledge of English too yet last year I scored 95 in GS paper 1 and 126 in paper, I know many of the toppers who scored less than me in paper 1…. had there been no CSAT I would have probably cleared pre, but hey I did not crib over it coz I know I did not prepare aptitude well and faultered on exam day, I gave CAT to improve my apti and studied seriously for it and scored 95 percentile I don’t know whether I will be able to replicate that again in CSAT or not but at least I am more confident in apti than last time around, by hard work you can achieve anything and without hard work things will be darn difficult..!!!
Senior members of UPSC feel that a mafia of private tutorial colleges are behind this students’ agitation. The UPSC decision will be final and that is not governed by the Union government
Well the idea of mafia behind the movement is laughable but it is an excellent example which reflects the mentality of UPSC..Two questions in this regard-
1) Can any mafia organisation support a movement for atleast 3 years which hardly had a chance of becoming fruition at one point of time? and Can mafia motivate/instigate such large number of matured people? Then what about the facts that humanities and language medium students declining every year?
2) Coaching institution rather flourished in the Post CSAT period..Then why mafia will bother?
I am from north east whr such agitation are not seen but many students here also support the demand of the protesters..& Feel sorry that while our mostly hindibelt brothers are badly beaten up then we were watching Tv and expressing intangible anger..Good luck guys..
Thank u brothr! For ur support & sympathy to this fight against injustice.
My letter to the Hindu editor:
Sir/Madam,
The Hindu editorial “Tests of aptitude and attitude” of July 31, 2014 gave factually incorrect and misleading information as pointed out below:
a) “CSAT seeks to test a range abilities and skills – including in terms of comprehension, interpersonal communication, logical reasoning, decision- making and problem-solving and English language – all at Class X level proficiency. To argue that a screening test that involves questions from that level gives an unfair advantage to any one section appears surprising.”
b) “In truth, when Hindi is allowed as a medium for the main examination, regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati are what face a disadvantage, because unless one has done the first degree and has written an examination in the language concerned, one cannot take the main examination in that language.”
Both the statements quoted above are factually incorrect and misleading; and are explained below:
a) The assertion that the CSAT seeks to test a range of abilities and skills all at Class X level proficiency is factually incorrect; and, therefore, the next conclusion “To argue that a screening test that involves questions from that level gives an unfair advantage to any one section appears surprising” is based on the false premise and, therefore, may not appear surprising.
It may be mentioned that only the Basic numeracy, Data interpretation and English Language Comprehension Skills are of Class X level as pointed out in the syllabus while Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills; Logical reasoning and analytical ability; Decision-making and problem solving; General mental ability cannot be said to be of Class X level.
b) A candidate can take the main examination in any one of the languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution without any conditions. So the “In truth” statement in the editorial is completely incorrect and misleading.
It may be mentioned that there was an attempt in 2011 (2011 Prelims’ Notification) to attach some conditions insofar as taking the literature as an optional subject and the other eight scheduled languages as the medium of the examination in the main examination is concerned. However, after protests from various quarters, the attempt had to be left from the 2011 examination itself and candidates can take a literature optional and write the main examination in any eight scheduled language without any conditions attached.
However, it may be said that the other regional language candidates are at a disadvantage in that the UPSC question papers both for Preliminary and Main Examinations are set only in English and Hindi even though candidates can write the main examination in any of the languages of their choice as mentioned in the eighth schedule. This bilingual nature of the questions is an issue which puts other-regional-language-medium candidates at an even more disadvantage insofar as the CSAT paper is concerned as one needs to have good command of the language medium of the examination because of the nature of the questions asked in the CSAT paper. In that sense, Hindi medium candidates are luckier than other regional medium candidates.
Hope that you would do the necessary correction accordingly so as to dispel the misleading nature of the editorial.
