How many of you really believe that Nitrogen dioxide is also released from steel plants? I saw in class 10 ICSE chemistry book only three gases are mentioned, CO, CO2 and SO2. If anyone of you have good trustworthy link or book which can prove NO2 is also emitted please share so that we can remove our misconception and doubt that solution providers have given by including it too. I have marked oxides of sulphur, CO and CO2 only.

Acid rain is attributed to emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), and it has therefore become important to limit the emissions of these oxides.
Steel industry uses coal,coke etc for blast furnaces, and burning of coal produces NO2. As simple as that
it means if u use electric furnace ==>> no NO2

Hey, read at GE energy site – 65% CO, 15% CO2, 15 % NO2 and small amount of Hydrogen and Methane came from Steel plant.
Developed nations doing research on converting CO2 emitted from steel plant into raw gas for energy generation.
Also, this Qs was asked by UPSC because of gas leak incident from Bhilai Steel plant in Jun 2014, where 6 people were died.

You should start preparing for mains. Though chances are on lesser side but they are not zero. If you wait for the result and then prepare then it will be too late
Hi all….based on my experience i can say with conviction that just after exam,rumour dominate over truth….its always advisable not to compare ur score with anyone else…in any case one has to write mains(this or next year)..so after taking 2-3 days break start for mains very seriousally….never reach any conclusion based on last year paper.try to finish syllabus thoroughly….all the best to all…

You are on the border.I am getting around 100 marks in gs and 115 in csat.Last year I got 262 marks in prelims where I got 150 marks in csat.So hopefully cutoff will be around 215.Gud luck
Thanks Naresh after reading around 300 commnets here need to be start mains prepration.One of the Strong comment you may read where person is putting very good answer is that how cut off dynamics can be changed.Cult off would be around 205 to 215 for general.
