SBI Associate PO Experience Sharing?
- but Problem with these online bank exams= Authorities don’t share the question papers under Right to information act (RTI)
- So, it becomes difficult for the next years’ aspirants to gauge the trend-difficulty level.
Therefore, recently I’ve taken the initiative to get question list from readers.
- RBI Assistant 2014 exam: Question list is now compiled in the article itself. click me
- RBI Grade “B” Prelims: comments from page2 onwards.
- IBPS PO 2014 Prelims: comments from page1 onwards.
One of my team mate Ankiit Srivastava is tasked with preparing list of topic wise questionlist for all of above exam. RBI assistant page already finished. Same will be done with remaining RBI, IBPS and SBI exams. Therefore, I request the players: share their experience in comments below, preferably in following format:

precis writing
some annoying paragraph about “business and shareholders
essay
1)all glitters are not gold
2) cleanliness is next to god
3) disadvantage of nuclear family(i don’t know exactly)
Attempted sbi po associate bank exam on 9/11/14.
After customary verifications and sign and thub impression etc.exam started at 9 am….Started with quants..first 3 ques were probability type..then a di with line graph..followed by another di with bar graph..then a di with 2 pie charts..(as it is mentioned in exam that this section is di and not as quants as in some other exam, more emphasis is laid on di only..almost 70%)…finally one huge para ques with venn dia type which i completely omitted.
Next went to ga…looks like it was easiest among all bank exams of the year..very less weightage to current events..evn thy were quite easy..eg-who among the following are tennis players-djokovic,nadal,woods etc….economy related ques were manageable with good understanding of core economics..(thanks mrunal bhai)….computers too could be solved with just common working knowledge of computers..diff part was marketing and management as most ques were high level..So new players can reschedule strategy for this part alone which is diff frm other bank exams.
Next began english section.Skipped rc both passages initially but completed those ques with synonyms and antonyms alone in it.Jumble took a while but was manageable.then 5 ques spot errors,5 ques replace the phrase etc.and finally 10 ques on fill in..But around 16-18 were frm rc and so couldn b skipped and hence had to come back.2nd passage was lengthy but easy to solve as ques were almost direct. But 1st rc had nly 2 paras but ques were tricky..managed to solve somehw.
Finally went to reasoning.few ques on assumption, reasoning, inference type..few on model of a>b>c etc…core reasoning ques like sitting arrangement, two rows sitting north and south, etc has diff from moderate to high..nothing easy at all except fr one blood relation problm..
So finally attempted the following in objective….section…..number attempted….time taken
Quants 40q 45 mins
GA 47 q 10 mins
English 50 q 15 mins
Reasoning 45 q 50 mins
(My strategy..start with quants as mind will be fresh during start of exam and hence wont make much mistakes in addition, multi etc.also no pressure of time as 1st section max 40-45 mins…then went to easier sections of ga and eng and try to save as much time as possible here..every min saved cn b used fr solving another reasonin prob later…max 30 mins in these 2 sec…Finally reas with 45-50 mins in hand…last 5-10 mins back to some section whre there is a possibility to answer more)
After a 10 min break and instructions started with objective test..This exam diff from sbi po is that in that exam printed paper set with ques and space fr answers is given..But here ques appear on screen and u gotta write down the ques and then the answers in the same time of 1 hr…Also u gotta mention every ques as answered on screen as there are rumours floating around tht if u dint ,it wouldn b evaluated(just a rumour still!!!)…anyways..ovr to paper..
First was a letter..formal one about loan provision to customer…informal one on asking parents fr money fr a college tour..and i think 3rd one is abt some job application(not very sure)..went with 2nd one…took 10 mins
Second was para writing..1 wqas need for motivation or something like that(sorry, dint real all ques properly)..i took 2nd one of your first day at a new job…time 10 mins
Third was RC…was about cash reserve ration, financial analysis etc.topic..Questions were pretty straight forward..but i think marks are provided for answer framing only..overall easy..(only pain is to write dwn ques and then answer)..time 10 mins
Fourth was precis writing..Usually in other exams rc and precis is same passage..so one can save time there..but here one has to read 2 passages and comprehend and answr in such a short while = headache..this one was abt some student participation..but was manageable as too many unnecessary points in it which can b reduced or omitted…took 20 mins
Finally essay writing..went through 1st topic..effect of t20 league, kabaddi and football league…Immediately recollected enough number of points and dint evn read the other choices…wrote as fast as i could in last 10 mins and managed to complete it in the best possible manner within time…
Overall exam experience was bit new,as few changes from conventional bank exams..but still serious players can get through easily..hope the post was useful and informative to new/old players…
Thanks mrunal bhai for ur wonderful efforts..and keep up the great work..!!!
Thanks Deepak for the experience. i don’t doubt your ability to attempt such number of ques but frankly speaking i can not even imagine to solve 180+ . even in clerk. i believe that here i can somehow manage 35-40 Que of DI in 45 min but doing English in 16 min is something commendable ,well-done. anyway all the best for your future and thanks because u have given me a hope and made me to at least believe that 180+ is possible.
Thank you rajan for your wishes…It is really possible with consistent preparation and practice..and above all, maintaining a cool head in the exam hall(comes only with experience)…All the very best for all your future exams…

In descriptive paper,I wrote the essay on ‘What are the benefits of various sports legues in India e.g. Kabbadi League,IPL,football league…’
Paragraph on ‘Importance of setting a goal in life’
the comprehension was easy and a letter to ‘the consumer forum complaining abt the lack of facilities given to the students of your coaching despite charging hefty fees and tall promises’
My Attempts — 128
Everything quiet easy except GA section which was flooded with high level banking questions.
DI was damn easy.
Reasoning all OK except those confusing sitting arrangements.
English attempted evrything except pasage and parajumble ..
Did very well in descriptive section as it was too easy..
Those who are yet to appear dont forget to mark all descriptive questions answered on computer..
9th Nov evening shift –
GA
A. Subpart Marketing : 10-12 Questions, 4-5 rudimentary definition type, 3-4 twisted, yet manageable. Overall easy to moderate.
B. Subpart computer : Do read basics, you got common sense? Yes? Your done! 10 -12 easy.
C. Span : 3 months. Though various ministries was asked but that doesn’t count in “span”. It is stock gk.
D. Static vs current : ratio would be 5:7. Static involves banking and economy section, economy questions will be definition type (GDP, GNP). Banking on the other hand may include some twisted ones, no need to worry about them quite manageable, if you are familiar with these kind of exams, you know what to read. e.g. RBI functioning etc.
E. Budget and economic survey : no need to dwell into the survey, just a summary of budget and overall glancing through current advancement in fund allocation for major schemes will do.
F. Books, PIN : Some book related to Sachin Tendulkar by D’souza. Uma Bharti’s ministry.. Overall, only major things in my shift.
G. Trivial GK : Dance forms and related states (Major only, like Kuchipudi, Bharathanatiyam etc.) One thing I learnt from all this IBPS exams that, capital and currency of various countries forms at least 3 marks. Be it RBI, IBPS PO, RRB PO, SBI PO or RBI ASSISTANT.
Overall easy to moderate, I did 33.
REASONING
A. Variety of question : 15 sitting, 5-6 syllogism (2 statement, possibility type.), 5 IP/OP, 5 DS, Coding decoding + blood relationship + direction sense 10-12, inequalities 5.
B. No diagram based questions.
C. Overall, moderate. Identify the easier ones and go for them first. I did 33.
MATHS
A. 5-6 sets of DI each with 5 questions. Overall easy compared to IBPS and SBI PO.
B. 3-4 Questions from probability. Easy.
C. I won’t comment much about this section as I sucked badly in this, managed only 19.
ENGLISH
Well, English is quite similar to all standard PO exams. Overall easy to moderate, I managed 36.
One wise name for any IBPS English section “Norman Lewis”
All the best to future aspirants. :)

4) marketing was ok, a good read about its basics would make it easy for any to attempt.
5) computer was easy, general basics n yet requires few basic revision stuffs esp on MS word short cuts
around 10 questions in comp n 10 + in marketing
compared to sbi po n ibps ,the banking basics+ static questions were easy
note: but the level of difficulty definitely increases next time, n one needs to add little tougher version of preparation next time, don expect it to b as it was this time.
attmtd 40
REASONING:
COMPARED TO OTHER exams it was very easy
1) 5 questins on syllogisms,(questions were direct not asked in ibps)
2) one input output easy
3) circular sitting arrangement, 8 persons some face center n some face out,it was easy compared to ibps n sbi bcz ibps had asked extra variable ,like profession was also included.
4)data sufficiance, assumptions n reasoning stuffs(mk pandy would help)
i attmptd 31,with 95+ accuracy

This is one problem everyone is facing-forgetting to mark the answer as answered on the computer screen.I think sbi would be wise enough to excuse your mistakes and consider only the hard copy.your attempts are good in number but make sure u havent done much mistakes(even 3)in DI,as you might miss out on cutoffs
There was instruction that if you dont enter the battery number on the paper your paper wont be valued.. so if marking as attempted was important they would have mentioned it there.. Final decision is theirs.. Just saying.. And in the 1 hour copying down questions and writing all these answers makes us busy.. So better mark all 5 questions as attempted first and then only start writing..
Same problem.I didnt mark the last question in descriptive though attempted it.Now I am in depression..10 marks are too much to make or break!!
Ibps clerical admit cards out. Please tell me can we change exam date /slot of exam.
