thanks a lot sir
can u pls share how r they preparing for comprehension in SPIPA?
Thanks sir….
are you from odisha?
Thanks a lot sir…
Keep it up .. :)
thanks sir waiting 4 ur economy lecture.
Thanx a ton sir …..
please keep on uploading the videos not only in economy…..but from all the static subjects please it is helping a lot….
geography is well appreciated …..please put history n culture too…with ECONOMY AND GEOGRAPHY….
I THINK THE TIME IS NEAR WHEN ONLY YOUR SITE WOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO CRACK UPSC RATHER THAN PEEPING INSIDE THE BOOKS
I too felt so
Thank You Very Much Sir For Doing this Great Work
Sir if possible arrange lectures for polity and world history…
Ma’m…
In today’s lecture you showed that …. Beacuase of earth’s rotation “missile” goes clockwise in N.hemisphere & anticlockwise in S. Hemisphere” …. Why so?
Plz Explain. Thanks.
Hi,
I am not sure, but it should be due to Corrolis effect..
Thanks
Hmmm…but can’t understand the concept…. :-/ OK. Thanks.
Corriolis effect…its easy to explain…you must have played on a spinning platform…suppose you and one of your friends are sitting diagonally opposite to each other and the platform on which both of you are sitting is rotating and then you pick up a ball and throw it towards your friend so that he catches it down..instead of moving in a straight line, the ball moves in a curvilinear path/projectile…the direction of the curvilinear path certainly depends upon the direction of rotation of the spinning platform…and its in the right path for the ball incase of a counter clockwise rotation and left incase of a clockwise direction..
Winds blow across the Earth from high-pressure systems to low-pressure systems. However, winds don’t travel in a straight line. The actual paths of winds—and of ocean currents, which are pushed by wind—are partly a result of the Coriolis effect.
your answer is in the explanation of corriolis effect.
senario 1- you are at equator (20 degree E latitude a) and your friend is at 60 degree N latitude (20 degree E longitude.)
You threw a rocket towards him if earth was stationary it would have gone straight towards him but earth is rotating so you and your friend and the rocket that is lying with you.both of you are moving to east direction with different speed higher at equator and lower at higher latitude.now you throw the rocket towards him. The rocket will have velocity in both direction that is north (because you threw it to north) and in east ( because you were moving towards east with earth so the rocket while it was launched) now the vector sum of these velocity would be in north east direction.it will seem to you that rocket is drifting towards right instead of going straight.in southern hemisphere situation will just reverse.
senario 2- you are at 60 degree latitude and your friend is at equator and you throw a rocket.since your eastward speed is slower than your friend your rocket will also have slower eastward speed than your friend and when rocket will reach the equator your friend will have moved ahead.from your point of view it again drifted right.
senario 3- you and your friend are at 60 degree N latitude.your and your friend’s speed is same as you are at same latitude but again rocket will be deflecting to right.the explain tigon of this senario is little complex and requires little physics also.
Hi T,
Becoz of earth’s rotational motion and missile’s translation motion it gets an acceleration known as coriolis acceleration.
And the direction is given by rotating the direction of translation motion by 90 degrees in the direction of rotational motion.(If rotation is clockwise towards right & if anticlockwise towards left)
In case of missile fired from earth(North pole or N Hemisphere) it goes upwards(translation motion) but due to earths rotational motion in clockwise direction it gets deflected towards right(here clockwise) & vice versa in case of S hemisphere.
You may have one confusion here about rotational motion of earth. I m clarifying it also if we observe from N pole it rotates in clockwise direction & if we observe from S pole it looks as anticlockwise rotation. I hope u can understand it now. If u still hv any confusion plz do mail me becoz here I can’t upload pictures & Animations related to it.
Thanks!!
Very helpful… Thanks… But if you have the animations than plz give me your email id. I will contact you if require.
sandeep.pacheria1992@gmail.com
I do hv an Animation but it is related to Engineering field & still u can understand. Any doubt feel free to ask.
Thanks
Are you from PDPU coaching?
It looks like I can’t share my email id here. Reply gets moderated. You just search http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMpbntC4zqU
I m not from PDPU.
Sir,pls mail me this corrolis concept images
By the way to understand the earth rotation=missile concept let us make an assumption. Assume you are as tall as a tallest tower in the world and you are standing in the equator facing north. From the equator you start walking towards North pole and since the earth rotates from left to right (clockwise) you are also moving (left to right) clockwise . Now come back to the equator and walk towards south pole, now for you the earth will rotate from right to left (anti-clockwise) and hence you are also moving anti-clockwise. The same is applicable to rockets too.
Even to make it much more simple, if you hang upside down by keeping your foot in the roof the clock will seem to you like running in anti-clockwise direction.
sir chalse.. aapde Hindi j joiye..

A minor error in the 5th slide ..
Geo graphy means (etymologically) = writing about earth
graphy means writing/to write …
In the 15 th slide was the answer correct ?
Isn’t it the tilted axis responsible for varied day , night and seasons ?
i think ur right also she is forgetting kepler laws of planetary motion ,when she says at two points earth be farthest at one point it should be nearest at other point it shud b farthest .
plz anyone clarify on this
yes. as only that tilt cause day night time variations in different seasons. and upsc answer is D titled axis.
thank u soo much
Thanx sir . Awesom . Also cover geography . It is going to a fabulous work sir . Plz add total geography videos also :)
