- Minimum age is 21 years.
- Age is counted on 1st August of 2015.
- Candidate who gave Prelims-2011, is eligible for one more attempt, even if he has crossed the age / attempt limit in following table. Ref: rule 3(ii)C on page 2 of notification
- Candidate already selected in IAS or Indian foreign service (IFS)- not eligible to appear.
| Category | Maximum Age | Attempt |
|---|---|---|
| General | 32 | 6 |
| OBC | 32+3=35 | 9 |
| SC/ST | 32+5=37 | till upper age |
| Physically disabled (Blind, Deaf-mute, Orthopedic) |
32+10=42 |
|
| J&K domicile | 32+5=37 | depending on above categories viz.Gen, OBC, SC/ST, PH |
| Disabled serviceman discharged from duty | 32+3=35 | same as above |
| Ex-serviceman with five years duty* specific condition on page2 of notification | 32+5=37 | same as above |
Above relaxation are cumulative e.g. OBC candidate from J&K = 32 + 3(OBC) + 5 (J&K) = 40 years up age limit.
What doesn’t count as an attempt?
Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
Education requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from a university setup under union or state act or ‘deemed university’ under Union Government C.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October /November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.
Physical Standard: Eye, Height, Chest from gazette
This pdf file (click me) has all the answers about eyesight, height, chest, color blindness, lasik surgery etc.
Which jobs reserved for PH?
- 13 for Locomotor + 5 for blind + 11 for hearing impairment = total 29 jobs reserved.
- The ‘physical requirement’ for particular service, are mentioned in first table of the notification. from there you can find out whether your given disability is eligible for IAS / IFS or not?
Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.
Prelim Papers / CSAT
| Paper 1 | Paper 2 |
|---|---|
| general studies (GS) | aptitude / CSAT |

My query is regarding Part -1 of the registration form. I belong to OBC community and after mentioning that it asks be if I belong to creamy layer or not, which I don’t. However, it again asks for Community Certificate Date, of which I’m not sure what date I should mention as my certificate are quite old. So, I just want to know that is there any date period to which the certificate should belong or even my old certificate will do ? Also, the certificate has to be from State govt. or Central ? And is there any prescribed format ?
Lastly, my father is at a clerical post in a govt. office. Do I still need an income certificate mentioning if I belong to a creamy layer or not ?
I’m sorry, the pdf you provided is quite confusing, so had to ask.
Dear Sir, I am B.Sc.graduate, is there any condition ? If I apply for the Civil service and Indian Forest Service. please confirm. Thank you From Vara Kumar @ 9164 87 8611; vara_kumar@hotmail.com

I filled up the CSE 2015 form just a few days after it was released. But yesterday i decided to change the optional i had taken and filled up the form again. Also i had to pay the rs 100 fee again. And a new registration ID was generated. Now i have two registration IDs. And both of them are currently working when i enter those on the UPSC site to check my call letter !! what to do?? I know the thing about ‘higher RID’ but the new RID that was generated is not named “higher RID’. It is simply ‘RID’. please help….
Would someone elaborate whether the marks of both papers of CS-Prelims would be used for determining the merit ? I know that CSAT paper II has been made a qualifying one. But the notification nowhere says that only marks obtained in Paper I would determine the merit list for Mains Exam ! Thanks in advance.
will signature in blue ink accepted? or it should only be black ink.
no problem….see upsc FAQs (http://www.upsconline.nic.in/faq.php):
“51. What should i do in case my Photo / Sign does not match with pixel sizes mentioned in UPSC guidelines?
UPSC is concerned with identification of a candidate at the Exam Hall based on the images uploaded by the candidate and not to cancel the candidature based on the size or color of ink used.”
Hello Mrunal,
I am biswaranjan preparing for the CSP 2015. I have one clarification based on the new criteria for the CSAT(Paper – II).
Suppose i scored 33%(66 marks) in the CSAT and i have qualified for the mains. And i need to qualify for the cut offs for GS(paper I) separately..??
1:- There is a separate cutoff for CSAT(i,e 33% marks)..?
2:- There is a separate cutoff for GS,Paper I (will be decided by the committee)..??
3:- So if some one qualifies the cut offs for the CSAT and GS, then only that person will be eligible for the mains exam. Am i right..?
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks
Biswaranjan
IMPORTANT:Got an official reply from UPSC through mail regarding the csp 2011 issue.here is what UPSC said:
“In case you have appeared for CSP-2011, your answer should be ‘YES’ to the said question. ‘NO’ answer even if you have appeared for 2011 irrespective of your eligibility may be treated as suppression of facts in case of its scrutiny at later stage.”

Friends, regarding that CSP 2011 issue, I twice talked to UPSC facilitation counter today because I am also facing the same problem as I had appeared in 2011 also and still have attempts left. Everytime they said, that I should fill ‘YES’ against that question. They also gave a veiled warning that, if I write ‘NO’ which I had already wrote in my first application 20 days back, there will be complications later as it will be counted as suppression of facts. They said, if you have appeared in 2011 even if you are eligible to appear on the basis of age and no of attempts for CSE, 2015, YOU HAVE TO WRITE ‘YES’. Accordingly, I reapplied for the CSP today. All the best friends. God be with us.
