UPSC Notification 2015 is out
- online application link: upsconline.nic.in
- Read the notification carefully before applying.
- Last date to pay fees: 18th June 2015.
- Last date to apply: 19th June 2015. Till 23:59 hours.
- Prelim Exam date: 23rd August 2015 (Sunday)
- Total vacancies: 1129. within that, 29 for physically disabled
Age & Attempt limit for UPSC
- Minimum age is 21 years.
- Age is counted on 1st August of 2015.
- Candidate who gave Prelims-2011, is eligible for one more attempt, even if he has crossed the age / attempt limit in following table. Ref: rule 3(ii)C on page 2 of notification
- Candidate already selected in IAS or Indian foreign service (IFS)- not eligible to appear.

Above relaxation are cumulative e.g. OBC candidate from J&K = 32 + 3(OBC) + 5 (J&K) = 40 years up age limit.
What doesn’t count as an attempt?
Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
Education requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from a university setup under union or state act or ‘deemed university’ under Union Government C.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October /November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.

Which jobs reserved for PH?
- 13 for Locomotor + 5 for blind + 11 for hearing impairment = total 29 jobs reserved.
- The ‘physical requirement’ for particular service, are mentioned in first table of the notification. from there you can find out whether your given disability is eligible for IAS / IFS or not?
Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.

To claim OBC reservation benefit in UPSC, you need TWO certificates:
- OBC caste certificate
- Non-creamy layer certificate.
- Non creamy layer status depends on your parents’ income and property.
- It doesn’t depend on your income/property
- It doesn’t depend on your husband/wife’s income/property.
- If your mom/dad is government employee then INCOME criteria doesn’t apply. (e.g. if dad is class3 employee, then it doesn’t matter whether he gets 6 lakhs or 7 lakhs. You’re still non-cream layer. For more, read this PDF file click me)

As an SC candidate I am claiming age relaxation and I had appeared for 2011 attempt too(that was not my last attempt) what should i fill in 2011 column ?? Yes or No??? I called up UPSC three times and got a different reply everytime for the same question. Please help me out.

I have appeared for CSP 2011 as my fourth attempt, subsequently i have taken attempts in 2012 and 2013. As such I have availed 6 attempts so far. Whereas the CSP Notification, 2015 reads any candidate who appeared in CSP 2011 is eligible for CSP 2015. Since I belong to general category, am I eligible to appear for CSP, 2015?

Sir, I am in apeculiar situation.I had given 2011 attempt and and completed 6 attempts in 2013.From 2014, i had come under creamy layer and i lost obc status.Now while filling the form in general category with 6 attempts, popup is coming mentioning you have exhausted your maximum permissible limits. please clarify me whether iam eligible for this extra attempt.

In the application form, upsc has asked whether you have appeared in CSE 2011. We have to fill either yes or no. I have appeared in 2011 and it was my first attempt. This would be my fourth attempt altogether and i am eligible by age. Do I fill yes or no. Because I don’t require any relaxation.

In 2011 , 4.5 lacs candidates filled up forms for csp…..only 2.5 lacs appeared …rest didn’t …syllabus was new and they didn’t have enough preparation. …now upsc is allowing only those who had appeared. ….!!!!! But logically they should allow all. ….there should be another mass protest ….

I filled up the CSE 2015 form just a few days after it was released. But yesterday i decided to change the optional i had taken and filled up the form again. Also i had to pay the rs 100 fee again. And a new registration ID was generated. Now i have two registration IDs. And both of them are currently working when i enter those on the UPSC site to check my call letter !! what to do?? I know the thing about ‘higher RID’ but the new RID that was generated is not named “higher RID’. It is simply ‘RID’. please help….
higher id = the later one. you will get ur hall tkt through this id. best of luck

your latest generated RID will be counted as it is higher in the numericals.
logically if someone has not appeared , his/her attempt does not count .
that mean they have saved their attempt , hence it is illogical to allow them now .

I have applied for civil services but my friend want to give both exam ( IAS+IFS).
He wants to give IAS with history as optional subject and IFS with science subject.
At the time of filling , only one subject can be selected for optional paper but in this case it is not possible.

Can a SC candidate who is converted to christian get age relaxation through SC quota??
The only relevant factor is whether you have an SC certificate…if you have one you can claim..otherwise not.
No, You cannot claim as the SC converted to Christians comes under the Backward classes.
Presently only Schedule caste belonging to Hindus (including Budhists, Jains, Sikhs) claim religion. However, tribal christians are entitled to reservation benefits and if you reconvert u again become entitled to reservation benefits.
