| Category | Maximum Age | Attempt |

| Disabled serviceman discharged from duty | 32+3=35 | same as above |
| Ex-serviceman with five years duty* specific condition on page2 of notification | 32+5=37 | same as above |
Above relaxation are cumulative e.g. OBC candidate from J&K = 32 + 3(OBC) + 5 (J&K) = 40 years up age limit.
What doesn’t count as an attempt?
Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
Education requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from a university setup under union or state act or ‘deemed university’ under Union Government C.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October /November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.
Physical Standard: Eye, Height, Chest from gazette
This pdf file (click me) has all the answers about eyesight, height, chest, color blindness, lasik surgery etc.
Which jobs reserved for PH?
- 13 for Locomotor + 5 for blind + 11 for hearing impairment = total 29 jobs reserved.
- The ‘physical requirement’ for particular service, are mentioned in first table of the notification. from there you can find out whether your given disability is eligible for IAS / IFS or not?
Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.

I have a small doubt regarding filling up of answer sheet in ias prelims exam.
If a person has Roll No of Six Digits in e-admit card(eg-875462),but in OMR answer sheet there are Seven columns to be filled in Roll No section,so do i have to prefix ZERO ‘0’ (eg-0875462) in columns and then encircle them OR should i have to write the same roll no as (875462) and left the last column respectively.
Please guide me regarding this,as am really confused about it.
Thanks
You may ask about it from invigilator’s at the time of exam.

@ Armaan: the marks obtained in
the Preliminary Examination by the candidates
who are declared qualified for
admission to the Main Examination will
not be counted for determining their final
order of merit.
Will csat score be considered while drawing cutoffs for prelims or is it jus a qualifying paper now?
N what abt gs1 papers score being considered in mains exam? Plz clarify sir its really confusing..thank u
The Commission will draw a list of candidates to
be qualified for
Civil Service (Main) Examination based on the criterion
of minimum
qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies PaperII of
Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and total
qualifying marks of General Studies
Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as
may be determined by
the Commission……
Sir,what is actuly meaning of this ??
Is this means, now we want to obtain only 66 marks in
csat and merit decided

Sir, I got my OBC certificate under “jat” reservation notified by UPA in 2014.
But, in 2015, Supreme Court has cancelled the reservation.
Now, Govt. has gone for a review petition.
My problem is- should I apply for CSE under OBC or General ?
Or it is understood that my certificate has no value as of today ?

Is Interview intake 1:2 only instead of 1:3???
no… it was 1:2 before and it is 1:2 now as well. eg Around 3000 students were called for interview this year while there are around 1000 seats. Ratio = 1000/(3000-1000) – 1:2
What should be filled for community certificate date for OBC-Non creamy layer candidates. Is it the date written in community certificate or in non creamy layer certificate?

prelimnary examination criteria is same for IFoS and IAS? 33% in paper II is qualifying for IFoS?
Yes, GS paper II is qualifying and its marks will not be counted in merit.
Yes… Paper-2 is qualifying at 33.3% for both. The difference will come in cutoffs for paper-1.

I am not eligible for 2015 as per age limit.(My DOB is 04/09/1982), but I attempted in 2011. Even 2015 notification says I am eligible. I was very happy till filling this year’s (2015) application…thinking that I have given an additional attempt. While filling the application form..it asked me..
*”Have you appeared in 2011″…But after filling and taking the print out of the application..the sentenced changed as “was 2011 your last attempt”…I was very tensed after seeing this..and couldn’t control my tension…Bkas 2012 was my last attempt and last year bkas of 32 year age limit I got one more chance. since govt declared on 22nd Aug, 2014 that ” all those who attempted in 2011 will be given a chance”, I Quit my studies, kept myself away from family and only preparing for this. Whats my future? Can anyone please clarify….pls..
I am also facing the same issue, but no one are observing it I think.
No worry…u will get an additional attempt this year as per the notification page 2 sec 3 (c) …plz contact
011-23385176 / 23098591 Ext.4754 they check the online application
hi sekhar, did u try to contact upsc regarding 2011 attempt as last attempt which appeared only after filling d form.. I’m also in d same boat.. lets try together.. I’m @ 9908815644
@ram,
dont worry! Our problem is solved. UPSC has rectified the technical problem arisen during filling the form. Now we are all in.
i have a small doubt,fr ex if some one secures 100 out of 200 in CSAT paper 2 , then being said that it is of qualifying nature, marks will not be added in selection for mains. So, does it mean that if u clear ur cutoff in paper 2, then only paper 1 marks will b counted for selection ??
please correct me if i am wrong
Multiply your cgpa with 10..
Eg: if its 8.76 then 8.76*10=87.6..either write 87 or 88..prefrebally 87
not sure if you are right!!!
If i am correct than p 1+ p2(which is 66 marks) = total marks obtain required for cut off
It’clearly given in the notification that u need to score 33% marks in prelims paper2. Understand this way…
U have given both the exams (gs and csat), now your first paper would be evaluated is Csat. If you score 33% or more then ONLY your prelims GS paper would be evaluated and if not, gs paper would not be evaluated. And the final cut-off would be on the basis of prelims gs i.e. out of 200…
There are numerous of mistakes in your explanation, you had shown 7 attempts for O.B.C. Candidates, but actually it’s 9.
Also, you had not shown any essay paper in the mains scheme columns,
But had added the marks for the same in the total.
Please try to avoid such errors ,it create unnecessary confusion in minds specially to the new candidates.
Your website is having national audiences.
Such errors are detrimental for both.
What would be the cut-off in Paper-II for SC candidates?
please clear that 1st &2nd paper have negative marking or not?and In mains these paper are subjective or objective?? Iam new please help
Yes Sakshi… Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 have negative marks (one third of marks for question, as it was for previous years). Mains paper are subjective, that has been the pattern for many years and I dont think it will change
negative marking is there
yes , both papers have negative marking of 0.33% each wrong answer…………..
but in mains both papers are subjective in nature……..
on of the worst negative marking in pre
1/3…..
one of the worst negative marking in pre i.e. 1/3….
what books we prefer for exam as i have no idea. This is my 1st attempt
