What doesn’t count as an attempt?
Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
Education requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from a university setup under union or state act or ‘deemed university’ under Union Government C.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October /November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.
Physical Standard: Eye, Height, Chest from gazette
This pdf file (click me) has all the answers about eyesight, height, chest, color blindness, lasik surgery etc.
Which jobs reserved for PH?
- 13 for Locomotor + 5 for blind + 11 for hearing impairment = total 29 jobs reserved.
- The ‘physical requirement’ for particular service, are mentioned in first table of the notification. from there you can find out whether your given disability is eligible for IAS / IFS or not?
Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.
Prelim Papers / CSAT

@shekhar…sorry for writing “yes”…mark NO in that column…and fill the form again…all the best
Still Planning commission exist in Public Administration syllabus!!!!
Then you should study it religiously.
best of luck….
Good luck all
Those who have attempted prelims in 2011 but have few more attempts left as well as age (below 32) – it does not accept it as an additional attempt.
UPSC have asked the question : Did you appear CSP in 2011? – Yes; the note below says “and otherwise not eligible because of the age or number of attempts” – which i do not fit into the category. Well, pressing Yes and going ahead, while verifying the filled in application – it does not repeat the question “Did you appear CSP in 2011?” but asks ” Was CSP 2011 your last attempt?” – Ofcourse its not
I think there needs to be better clarity on the extra attempt – who can avail it? is it only those who crossed their age and attempts, but can attempt 2015 if they have attempted 2011? or is it for anyone who have given an attempt in 2011?
Dear all,
Please clear my doubt!!!
My DOB is 7/2/1988

Thanks for upcoming response….
@himanshu
Please got through the brochure once.
A candidate must have attained the age
of 21 years and must not have attained the
age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2015
i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1983 and not later than
1st August, 1994

What to write exactly in column says “Have you appeared at CSE 2011”. I filled it “YES” though I have many attempts and age. But in the print out that column turned to “Was CSP 2011 was your last attempt as per the CSP 2011 Notification : Yes”. I am in big confusion. I had called UPSC regarding the clarification, but they told that today is holiday and call on Monday. Help me guys
there is bit of confusion . There is an option whether you appears for CSP 2011. I opted yes as i made attempt. But after taking print out it is coming Was CSP, 2011 your last attempt as per CSE,2011 notification. Which is not right as 2011 was not my last attempt.Kindly clearify
Paper-1 cut offs will shoot up n range of marks which will clear pre will be narrower…
Because it is difficult to score very high marks like 130+ in GS, but many people have good GS after years of study. A lot will depend on the paper also.
