UPSC Notification 2015 is out
- online application link: upsconline.nic.in
- Read the notification carefully before applying.
- Last date to pay fees: 18th June 2015.
- Last date to apply: 19th June 2015. Till 23:59 hours.
- Prelim Exam date: 23rd August 2015 (Sunday)
- Total vacancies: 1129. within that, 29 for physically disabled
Age & Attempt limit for UPSC
- Minimum age is 21 years.
- Age is counted on 1st August of 2015.
- Candidate who gave Prelims-2011, is eligible for one more attempt, even if he has crossed the age / attempt limit in following table. Ref: rule 3(ii)C on page 2 of notification
- Candidate already selected in IAS or Indian foreign service (IFS)- not eligible to appear.

Above relaxation are cumulative e.g. OBC candidate from J&K = 32 + 3(OBC) + 5 (J&K) = 40 years up age limit.
What doesn’t count as an attempt?
Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
Education requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from a university setup under union or state act or ‘deemed university’ under Union Government C.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October /November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.

Which jobs reserved for PH?
- 13 for Locomotor + 5 for blind + 11 for hearing impairment = total 29 jobs reserved.
- The ‘physical requirement’ for particular service, are mentioned in first table of the notification. from there you can find out whether your given disability is eligible for IAS / IFS or not?
Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.

To claim OBC reservation benefit in UPSC, you need TWO certificates:
- OBC caste certificate
- Non-creamy layer certificate.
- Non creamy layer status depends on your parents’ income and property.
- It doesn’t depend on your income/property
- It doesn’t depend on your husband/wife’s income/property.
- If your mom/dad is government employee then INCOME criteria doesn’t apply. (e.g. if dad is class3 employee, then it doesn’t matter whether he gets 6 lakhs or 7 lakhs. You’re still non-cream layer. For more, read this PDF file click me)

i appeared in cse 2011 , but i have not crossed age limit in 2015 and have 2 attempts left

Install security certificate… How install security certificate also provided in upsc site
go in unsafe mode. site will ask at end if u want to proceed in unsafe mode, click that and part 2 will be opened

I am not eligible for 2015 as per age limit.(My DOB is 30/07/1983), but I attempted in 2011. Even 2015 notification says I am eligible. I was very happy till filling this year’s (2015) application…thinking that I have given an additional attempt. While filling the application form..it asked me..

Yes, you are eligible. Pls refer page 2 of notification, as far as I know, this relaxation is valid for this year only and probably from next year onwards it will be 30 upper limit! Good luck!

Can u clarify why do you think upper age limit for general will be 30 again from next year
I might be wrong in my interpretation, but I guess the changes in age and limits were carried out last year to address the grievances of aspirants who were protesting the changes in Mains exam pattern. Guess they might revert back the changes from next year!

Always consider current attempt as last one. Never leave anything for next year, because things may change drastically.
I have heard that minimum age may be reduced to as low as 26 in future. but limit of 30 may be very soon. Its my opinion.

as per supreme court jurisdiction jat was not in obc category so i think you should proceed as general candidate.

Please clarify that selection for mains only depends on paper 1.
Merit listing for selection in mains will depend upon the marks you get in paper 1 (GS) only, i.e. scoring high in paper 1 is main criteria for qualifying for mains. But paper 1 will be evaluated only if you obtain the required 33% (66 out of 200) marks in the paper 2 (CSAT) and with the elimination of English comprehension portion as well as the decision making questions, as was in the last year’s paper, the qualifying marks will be around 57 in the CSAT.
what should be qualifying marks for mains?, i am really getting concerned about the pattern, earlier i was totally rely upon paper2, but for now i think that i need prepare hard fror paper1.
yes , u only have to score ~66 marks in paper 2 to qualify that,for paper 1 you have to clear the cutoff

What to fill in the “percentage in graduation” column ??? I got 50.48% but the page is only responding to decimal figures so my % is showing as 50 only.Could not find any instructions on how to round-off marks both in the upsconline pdf file and employment news notification.please help.

Irrespective of your attempts in UPSC, If you are eligible per age, and have appeared in Prelims of 2011. You can enroll for this year.
SIR WHAT IS THAT HIGHER REGISTRATION ID ?????
Higher Registeration ID is the one which is the most latest one that you would have registered.
For e.g. If you registered for the first time and got a registration no. like xyzxyzxyz, then you had to register again for certain reasons and got a registration no. like abcabcabc, the Higher Registration ID would be abcabcabc.
If u r filling form twice then the application of new one will be accepted.. tht will be higher registration no.
for example u have registered yourself three times and every time you will get a registration ID(once you have filled part 1 you will get registration ID)..
every time your ID will be different..the latest 1 i.e. the last ID( third time) will be the Higher Registration ID.
Agar no add ho to paper 1 aur paper 2 dono ke add ho.Aur agar qualifying rakhna hai to dono ko qualifying rakho.Isse dono tarah k varg khush rahenge.Barabar ka mauka tabhi hoga.halaki dono ko qualifying 33 perent rakhna chahiye.
