UPSC has uploaded result for CSAT-2014 preliminary exam. 15,008 candidates qualified for the mains exam. Here are the links to download the PDF file containing roll numbers of the successful candidates
Before declaring final result of CSE-2014, UPSC had officially announced the date and time of result declaration. Same way, here too, in the afternoon of Oct-12-2015, UPSC official website mentioned that result will be out at 9PM.

The results of Roll Numbers 0882295, 1000001, 1000002, 1000003, 1000004, 1000005, 1000006, 1000007, 1000008, 1000009, 1000010, 1000011, 1000012, 1000013, 1000014, 1000015, 1000017, 1000018, 1000019, 1000020, 1000021, 1000022, 1000023, 1000024, 1000025, 1000026, 1000027, 1000028 and 1000029 have been withheld on the directions of Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunals/High Court.

Nah this SC cut off is wrong, I was scoring between 95-100 and even 104 from one list. I didn’t make it. I scored 125 in paper two. This is so frustrating! I was sure I’ll get through.

I couldn’t clear prelims this time too,, it was my 4th attempt, I worked hard as much as I could,.I did nothing than exam preparation. Except for few necessary routine work.now I am feeling very very sad.it was not expected last year and this year too. My pg mates are commenting on me..mrunal sir pls suggest something where I am wrong, what is lacking in my preparation.
hiii sak ….see most of d serious candidates knws d ans fr some 40-50 question(dis is only a rough estimate,juz fr eg. ) …in dat also some ans may go wrng due lack of presence of mind…but d ppl who is correctly attempting more than 40-50 ques are d ones who will be getting through it…one shud knw d art of getting ans even fr unknown questions as many as possible by linking some broken facts or by making intelligent guess … roman saini’s have made a video on dis …pls hv a look at dat …n practice prev yr papers as many as u can …gud luck bro

What I got to know till now…..max no of students failed in prelims were in the marks range of 109-115…. I have seen below it clearing it and above tht has cleared it for sure.
So may be answer in UPSC keys are differing from what we marked…..but in my case I have excluded all the 7-8 controversial questions from my marks…..so don’t know what’s wrong

Isn’t octroi tax voilative of article 301 of indian constitution? Kindly shed light on this
No it isn’t. There’s a line of SC cases on this matter, starting with Atiabari Tea Estate v State of Assam, then came Bhagat Ram v State of MP, State of MP v Hansa Corp, Jindal Stainless v State of UP etc. In all of these cases the SC said that there may be levies of different kinds which the state imposes, standard taxes as are envisaged within the constitution, compensatory/regulatory taxes and fees. Taxes are always levied based on a common burden, they are not levied for a specific purpose, they generally go to the Consolidated fund and are used for the general administration of the state. Fees on the other hand are mostly levied for a specific purpose, eg regulatory fees, toll fees paid for the use of a road etc. These are generally optional in the sense that if you use a particular service, the government charges you for regulating/administering it. Now in these cases mentioned above, the SC said that compensatory/regulatory taxes are somewhat a hybrid between the two types and by levying such taxes such as entry fees into a state etc (which are similar to octroi), the purpose is identifiable. Remember Art 301 has a proviso by way of Art 304 which provides exceptions. The scope of Art 304 was broadened to include such levies, and IMO octroi should be covered by that.
