- Those of you, who [unfortunately] failed in the UPSC CSAT 2012 exam: there is no point in joining the cut off speculation game prevalent on various online forums- it will only add insult to your injury. Many of you will feel “I ticked answers worth XYZ marks and still not selected, but another person online who claims to have ticked answers worth only ABC marks is selected.” So browsing such forums and threads will only increase your agony.
- If you want to find out the truth about what went wrong in your case -“How many marks did UPSC actually give to you and what was marks of the last guy who got selected in your category?” then better ask UPSC to give you the photocopy of your OMR answersheet and the official answerkey and the number of marks officially allotted to you and to the last guy in your category.
- Everyone who fails in the prelims, either fades away or gives another attempt. All these years, this attitude from our side has turned UPSC into a Lord Curzon- otherwise what is so sacred about prelims that UPSC doesn’t publish the marks of every candidate? If only 10000 failed candidates file RTIs asking for marks, the UPSC staff will get tired digging through computer database to take print outs of every RTI applicant’s marks and their boss will get tired signing each RTI-reply letter, and next time they’ll upload the result + marks of each candidate right on their official website to save themselves from this fatigue. (or atleast I hope so.)
How to file RTI to know the score?
Please note that, UPSC might not immediately the give the information citing “the Examination process is not yet complete, because the Civil Service Exam 2012 will complete only when final merit list is published somewhere in April-May 2013.
But doesn’t hurt trying the luck for Rs.15 (10 for IPO and 5 for postal stamps). So, here is the standard procedure to file an RTI to UPSC, inquiring about marks. (IPS LCE candidates can also use this letter, just replace CSAT-2012 to IPS LCE 2012)
Step 1: Copy paste the draft RTI application
Copy paste following letter in your MS Word program (or manually write this in a plain paper.)
Replace XYZ with your name and roll number at appropriate places.

Sub: Application under RTI 2005, about CSAT 2012 Result
Sir,
Provide me the following information regarding Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2012 [also known as Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) 2012.]
- Official Answerkeys for Paper I and Paper II.
- Photocopies of OMR Answersheets of Roll Number XYZ.
- Marks allotted to Roll Number XYZ in each paper.
- Cut off marks of each category (Gen,ST,ST,OBC,Ph) in CSAT 2012.
Along with this letter, I’ve attached the Indian Postal Order Worth Rs.10, as RTI Application fees.
Yours sincerely,

Step 2: IPO worth 10 Rupees.
Go to nearest post office, ask them to provide a Rs.10 Indian Postal Order.
Write “Accounts Officer, UPSC, New Delhi” on it.
Write the date and Tear out the slip from left hand side as evidence. and ask the clerk to “cross” (put stamp on) the IPO.
Step 3: Envelop
From the same post office buy an envelope worth Rs.5 OR take a blank evenlope and affix stamps worth Rs.5 as postage charges
Now slip the Drafted RTI application Letter + the Rs.10 IPO in this envelop and send it to following address

Dholpur House,
Shah Jahan Road,
New Delhi-110069
Wait for 40 days. (yea the RTI act says 30 days but the timer starts only after UPSC receives your letter. 10 days are added by me, considering the time it takes to send and receive letter to and fro)
And please note down the details of date when you sent the letter + serial of IPO as evidence.

i m in confusion.IN a interview of AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA(aai) i was sent back from interview without interviewed because my degree certificate showed my session year ie 2008 instead of 2009(my last supplementry exam date).i clarified it —i m student of rajasthan university B.E. (ELECTRONICS) DURING THE SESSION 2004-2008(last sem exam (regular) on may/june 2008) but i had a backlog of 4th sem which was cleared on sep 2009(exam on jun 2009).my degree certificate was issued after all paper were cleared but in degree certificate it was mentioned that ;CERTIFIED THAT (NAME AND COLLEGE NAME)HAVING BEEN EXAMINED FOR THE B.E. IN 2008& HAVING PASSED in HONOURS…… .sir AAI object on this statement having 2008 as examination year instead of 2009(last supplementry exam).sir plz guide me to write RTI to raj university seeking clarification to its degree certificate.sir it is case of many candidates having degree from raj university,kurukshetra university etc.plz send me a draft RTI to my mail.thanks in advance

with ur inspiration i have file RTI on ESIC (DD) and got the reply today. I have asked them to suplly the following.
1. List of Interviewed candidates with their respective marks in written and Interview and their category.
2. category wise cut-off marks for written as well as Interview and marks obtained by me.
3. Name of the members of Interview Board and marks awarded by them for each candidate separately.
I have received the reply for sl no:1 as List enclosed. But no such list enclosed.
For Point 2 they have given consolidated cut-off of each category, but no information on category wise cut-off.But they mentioned that I have got 98 marks where as the selected candidate under PH category has got 102 marks.
For Point 3 they said that it against the policy of commission to supply the information.
They had given me 30 days time to file appeal. What shall I do now. I wants to know the interview marks of all the candidates and name of the members of Interview board who have Interviewed them.
Kindly advise.

The Pnb bank has release its list for the recruitment for the clerk post, and my interview was gone successfully and also there was a call by the pnb for dob confirmation .. and at this point i think they got confused due to which they did not displayed my name in the final list..so my question is that to whom i should file the RTI to the bank..Reply soon as the reporting date is 11 feb 2013, an the result releasing date is 31 jan 2013……REPLY SOON sir

UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION, EXAMINATION NOTICE NO. 04/2013-CSP is date 5/3/2013 and last date is 4/4/2013,, my problem is fee Rs. 100 and i fiilup the form but fee is send to e mail or speed post a fee copy in commission.. and which address and email,, In adv. “”For the applicants in whose case payments details have not been received from the bank they will be treated as
fictitious payment cases and a list of all such applicants shall be made available on the Commission website within
two weeks after the last day of submission of online application. These applicants shall also be intimated through email
to submit copy of proof of their payment to the Commissi on at the address mentioned in the e-mail. The
applicant shall be required to submit the proof within 10 days from the date of such communication either by hand
or by speed post to the Commission. In case, no response is received from the applicants their applications shall be

just print the challan, pay the fees to SBI branch, come back home, write that transaction id number in your application and fill up the part II.
@all pharmacy students: I am also pharmacy students and had same problem with application. I have filled Application for “Civil services” becuase wen i select “other” only option come is “Civil service. At theat time option was “degree in zoology”, Chemistry”, Botany etc. but nw things are changed
But today wen I visited application form options are changed. Like initally it was degree inzoology, botay, chemistry and all list but now it has mentioned as ” graduate degree with atleast Mathematics as subject, zooollogy as subject, bitany as subject..etc

bcoz notification say:
A Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university or equivalent.

@all: there si not point that pharmacy is equivalent to science or chemistry, if we have studies any of the subjects in garduation then we are eligible. bcoz notification say Bachelor degree with at least one of the subject and no say graduate in that subject. Also we study herbal drugs, pharmacognosy so don’t worry and in RTI mention all details clearly it will help whole pharmacy community. Time has come we should ask gov to take action for paharmacy community.

Also we should select chemistry as we have stuiided organic chemistry which clearly don’t match there term chemistry (as it contain organic, inorganic etc). But as far Mumbai univ is concern we have studied mathemeatics in sem 2and 3 also our marksheet clearly states “Mathematics” so we can apply in ” Graduate degree with atleast mathematcis as one of the subject”

After reading so much cases it is clear that UPSC has introduced different qualifying marks for both papers . there was a friend of mine belonging to General category , he qualified CSAT-2012 ,expecting slightly 220+ marks ,and here people are claiming 240 but still failed .
Prelims merit list is prepared by combining marks of paper 1 and 2. there is no separate cutoff for each paper.

Since I haven’t qualified the mains exam of MPPSC 2010,can I ask for the xerox of my answer sheets under RTI? I doubt they w’d not provide me the same since interviews are yet to begin.
Yes u can apply . My friend also applied for the same and got it. As per CIC decision a candidate can demand for xerox of their answer sheet within 6 months.

First apply with 10 Rs fee ,then MPPCS PIO will send u letter after calculating additional money that u hv to deposit. After sending that amount u wl get the xerox of ur answersheets
