Introduction
- SSC CGL 2013 was to be held on 14th and 21st April.
- But 14th April exam was cancelled. Now that exam will be held on 19th May 2013. (Hence it is no longer conflicting with SBI PO exam date.) This is not a rumor. This is given on SSC’s Northern Region website click me
- This article contains analysis based on two papers of SSC CGL 2013, held on 21st April (KP series and PJ series) click me to download those papersets.
- Download links for today’s question papers are given in the appendix of this article.
Maths
| type | subtype | KP | PJ |
| Basic | BOSMAS | 1 | 0 |
| Square root | 1 | 1 | |
| Number theory, LCM, HCF, remainder | 0 | 2 | |
| algebra | linear equation | 1 | 1 |
| quadratic equation | 6 | 6 | |
| % | profit loss interest rate etc. | 7 | 6 |
| average, ratio | average | 2 | 2 |
| ratio | 1 | 2 | |
| STD | time and speed (Boat, railway etc.) | 2 | 2 |
| time and work (pipe cisterns etc.) | 3 | 3 | |
| Geometry | Geometry_theory | 8 | 8 |
| Mensuration (Area, volume, perimeter) | 3 | 4 | |
| Coordinate geometry | 1 | 0 | |
| Trigonometry | height-distance | 1 | 1 |
| complimentary angles | 2 | 1 | |
| equation /formula based | 3 | 4 | |
| misc | 1 | 0 | |
| DI | Bar, pie, line, table | 7 | 7 |
| Total | 50 | 50 |
- SSC has continue the trend of last year (=less importance to conventional questions from profit-loss, time-speed, mensuration etc.) and more emphasis on geometry (theory), Trigonometry and algebra
- Roughly 2/3rd of the Maths questions are from Geometry, trigonometry, algebra and Data interpretation (DI) only.
- Although SSC chief remained kept his twitter promise: trigonometry and geometry portion bit easier than last time’s and most of the trigonometry questions could be solved effortlessly by the [Trigonometry] tricks explained on www.Mrunal.org/aptitude
- Usually DI portion contained only one “case” and 5 questions. This time SSC has given multiple DI cases.
Reasoning
| topic | Subtype | KP | PJ |
| series | analogy | 3 | 8 |
| odd pair | 4 | 5 | |
| missing in series | 15 | 8 | |
| dictionary based test | 3 | 3 | |
| subtotal | 25 | 24 | |
| coding | coding-decoding and matrix | 4 | 3 |
| maths symbol based ops | 2 | 4 | |
| subtotal | 6 | 7 | |
| arrangement | direction based tests | 2 | 4 |
| arrangement (weight/height wise) | 1 | 1 | |
| subtotal | 3 | 5 | |
| logic | Statement-conclusion | 1 | 1 |
| syllogism | 1 | 1 | |
| subtotal | 2 | 2 | |
| Non-Verbal | non verbal | 11 | 8 |
| Misc | misc (Venn Diagrams, TSW etc) | 3 | 4 |
| total | 50 | 50 |
- Compared to earlier years, SSC increased the number of non-verbal questions.
- Sitting arrangement (case containing 3-5 question) =absent.
- Otherwise question pattern/difficulty level similar to previous years.
General Awareness / GA-GK

- As usual, GA section was broadly made up of three parts: Static, Science and Crap.
- The message / lesson is clear: when it comes to the GA portion of SSC, don’t waste time chasing trivial current affairs. Because static (polity, history etc.) and science, is where your focus should be.
| Topic | Sub topics | no. of Questions |
| Static | economy | 4 |
| Polity | 3 | |
| History_ancient | 1 | |
| History_modern | 6 | |
| Geography | 4 | |
| Environment biodiversity | 4 | |
| Subtotal | 22 | |
| Science | physics | 4 |
| chemistry | 4 | |
| biology | 8 | |
| Computer,IT | 2 | |
| Subtotal | 18 | |
| Crap | Books | 1 |
| Persons in News | 6 | |
| Misc. | 3 | |
| Subtotal | 10 | |
| Total | 50 |
In PJ and KP series question papers, the GA and English questions were same (only sequence was changed) hence I’ve given only single column for no. of questions.
English
| type | Question | no. of Questions |
| vocab | synonym, Antonym | 6 |
| idioms and phrases | 5 | |
| word substitution | 7 | |
| spelling | 2 | |
| RC | Passages (2) | 10 |
| grammar | sentence correction | 5 |
| sentence improvement | 10 | |
| fill in the blanks | 5 | |
| Total | 50 |
Not much to say, follows the usual pattern / difficulty level of previous years.

sir plz post answer key of ssc sgl 2013 of 19th may
what about descriptive papper of ssc cgl 2013
can anybody tell me about it
is it deficult to qualify it ?
It would be of qualifying nature, and the motive is to identify suspicious cases and cheaters. What I infer is, it won’t in any case be tougher than the descriptive paper of Bank exams.
can anybody tell me top rankers marks of ssc cgl 2012 in each tier
sir i am getting 88.75 in tire1..i am looking for the statistical investigator grade 2 post…is there any hope of tire 2 ?

Official keys uploaded. Check soon, as the last date for representations is June 24, so just a week
what kind of representation…will it be??
SSC invites objections, if any, regarding the published key. If you feel any answer is wrong, you can inform them about that.
what is the procedure for that..??

Hi AS,
What is your score?
What will be the expected CUTOFF?
I guess it should be in range 85-95 for general. Plenty of factors come into play: Tentative number of vacancies, the number of candidates appeared, SSC’s plan about descriptive test, sectional cut-offs etc!
Hey Mrunal
how do one represent wrong answers to ssc
procedure please
Send the fax to following nos

last date 24 june.
after answer keys from ssc i m getting 91 marks from ur catagory whether i will qualify or not
@titiksha
Will or will not? Only finally result can tell.
But considering past trend, the probability of will is more than not
so is it a mean that i should not start preparing for ssc tier 2 and should wait for the result
You should start preparation for Tier 2. Because not much time is left after declaration of Tier 1 results. Knowledge gain won’t be wasted, it can be used for clearing some other exam.
according to your perspective what would be the cut off for UR category
One can only speculate. Might be less than last time if new vacancies in IT Department are included in CGL 2013
hello
tell me in ssc cgl tier 2 which papper between maths and english is easier to score
All depends on your strength. Easier to score in English because you will be willing to take more risk in that as negative marking is 1/4 compared to 1/2 in quant.
Hi…
Can you have an idea when will ssc officially publish the result of SSC CGL 2013 exam ?
You can expect it in the last week of JUNE or latest by first week of JULY !! All the best !! :)

Only time will tell.
anyone know when ssc graduate level tier1 2013 result will be published???!!!
July end, most probably. Or August beginning.
thanks AS sir,
can you advise me how to prepare for English section to get maximum marks in it
Sir?????? No way
For English, read some grammar book and do a lot of practice(Speech, voice, comprehension). One word substitution, synonyms and antonyms same as that in Tier 1.
thanks……..
pls. also suggest me that i am not getting a very good marks in tier 1 so will it effect on tier2 and whether i will be able to get good rank or not
Tier1: 200 marks
Tier 2: 400 marks.
So enough opportunity to make amends for low marks in Tier 1 in tier 2
how can i increase my efficiency in exam because many questions get wrong even after doing all those so carefully
Almost all suffer from this problem. You can minimize such errors by timed practice. Maybe you can try early in the morning or late in the night, when the chances of being disturbed are lesser.
i got 68 in cgl belong to sc . do i have a chance for tier 2?
