Background
After the change of civil service (Mains) exam syllabus in 2013, UPSC aspirants had been demanding additional age/attempt limit. Large scale protests organized during December session of parliament..
So far, UPSC and Personnel ministry had shown an indifference to these demands (as per the Minister’s reply in Rajya Sabha and RTIs to UPSC and Personnel Ministry.)
But now, Personnel Ministry’s official site has uploaded a new PDF notification:

It reads:
Subject: Civil Service Examination- Relaxation of number of attempts
The Central Government has approved “two additional attempts to all categories of candidates w.e.f. Civil Services Examination 2014, with consequential age relaxation of maximum age for all categories of candidates, if required.”

Then upper age limit turns out to be General = 32, OBC = 35, SC/ST=37.

UPSC has increased the age limit for all category, is it only for two years or it will be continued for all upcoming UPSC exams beyond two years? Kindly reply.

sir, as the govt has announced that the aspirants who appeared in ias exam 2011 will get one more chance in 2015.
is it true irrespective of present age of the aspirants or it is true for those aspirants only, who are under defined age limit at present

There is a bad news that the govt is planning to reduce maximum the age limit for ias exam from 32 to 26. Many have left their job for preparation of this exam. I am a contract teacher . I had a dream to become an ias officer. I am 30 now. I have bought all books What will I do now ? Please investigate the age limit and inform me ?

sir at present I am 32 and in 2011 CSAT is introduced bt bcoz of last attempt and age was there i thought to give it on 2012 that was my last attempt. so this time in 2015 i m elligible for an attempt or not.

Sir, I’m Praveen from Hyderabad started attempting CSE from 2012. I’ve exhausted 3 attempts(OC) till now.
So, in accordance with the changes made in 2014 regarding no of attempts & age limit, can I still have 3 more attempts? ie., 6 attempts.
