New development: You can’t change Optional-Subject, exam-Centre,, Indian Language paper (Paper-A) and Answer Medium. You’ll have to stick to whatever you choices made in the prelims application form. (Ref: Instruction PDF file, page no. 3.)
- Last date is 11th November. MAKE NO HASTE in filling this form. Thoroughly read the PDF files uploaded on that page.
- Questions-queries post in comments. I request senior players to help others filling up the DAF-form.

please reply very much frustrated i send my DAF form through my uncle to post office to send it to upsc but because of negligence; post office clerk pasted the crf stamp in other box where actually one has to write the amount but because of glue my uncle thought it better to keep it their and thus speed posted.Will upsc accept it please reply
Relax.
Most likely they will accept your form. This form is read by humans and not machines therefore they would understand the error. Still if you want, you may talk to upsc.
A simple correction could be to send over a fresh printout with a letter attached about the previous mistake. This may leave you poorer by 200 rupees but still you can prepare in peace.
Hey in my 10th Class certificate my father’s name is written as G R Bansal while 12 th class has girraj bansal and I have also given my father’s full name in pre application. What should I do for age of proof? 12 th certificate doesn’t have date of birth. Pear help

10th marks card is the date of birth proof asked by UPSC:)
nidhi don’t attach the 12th marksheet, if you have mentioned g r bansal in upsc . but if you have filled girraj bansal in upsc;fir you invited unwanted trouble

Badey bhai, my response is unless the person inside the picture is same, how does the frame and effect makes it ground for rejection. I avoid these questions cos in past i ve been blamed of being frivolous . Go ahead, kuch b nahi hone wala.

grad degree mein kya mention hain.
Grade degree doesn’t have. Date of birth. I have given. Full name in upsc form…. Please suggest what should I do… Shall I go with 10 th marksheet then?
Hi. I just confirmed this matter from a commissioner in patna. Your 10th marksheet says g r bansal, where as in 12th, graduation degree, and upsc form you have mentioned girraj bansal. right ?
For d.o.b you have to show 10th marksheet, you dont have choice. now the issue is how to prove to upsc that both mr g r bansal and girraj are same.
first you have to contact the board, write an application and get a new marksheet. then from the local court , get an affidavit which says both are same.
for now, just send them the marksheet which you have with you right now, and dont panic. meanwhile in due course or at time of interview upsc will raise this issue, then directly them the new marksheet and the court affidavit. agar wo jyada barr-barr kare, to sun lena unki baat, cos for years you haven’t rectified it. aage passport mein b ye issue raise hoga.
In case of discreprancy they will only ask you to submit an affidavit,so no need to worry . I also had same problem last year and submitted affidavit after interview.

post office jayie. CRF stamps kharid lijiye. yahi aap ko printed DAF pr affix krni hai. and note down the series of these stamps.

I was about to submit the form, but on the page of final submission it’s asking to fill an amount of CRF stamp but fee is not applicable in my case, no fee, then what to write, I can’t leave it blank because its not submitting the form without filling an amount in it, please help.

Sorry to mention my little concern on a thread meant for a different discussion at all.As per my understanding,its somewhere related to the CSE Mains exam.I express my sincere apology to reveal a pity fact that I don’t know how to initiate a new thread on this generous educational portal. Please bear with me for the same,but yes , I do anticipate your kind replies.
Actually the concern is about marks discrepancy in the final list of CSE 2013.

last year in CSE 2013 ,mains cut-off for General Candidates was a score of 564.

I am afraid to find any General Candidate ,who scored 564 marks in CSE Mains-2013
Hopefully I was able to present my question clearly.

I did not clear this year’s prelims. In fact, haven’t cleared it in the last 3 years. Frankly I am feeling extremely jealous about all you guys who are discussing about DAF . . . My aim is to atleast fill this Damn Application Form(DAF). Can I hack upsc website :)

actually honi to same hi chaiye. kosish kijiye khi rakhi hui mil jaye photo purane kisi admit card ya forms me. soft copy ho to print karva lijiye.
else, i will suggest first make a mail to UPSC, and go accordingly.
If you have a saved copy of the final filled out prelims form the the same photograph can be extracted from there

one little doubt I had given SCRA and IES interviews also, will I be required to mention those?

yes you can mention these two things in your DAF. it adds some weight to your candidature, that you are not a candidate like others. but please be ready with convincing answers at the time of interview.
One more little doubt as presently I am working as a scientist in DAE, will all these things go against me……..
you are working as a scientist in DAE wow ! I always wanted to be a scientist Its an awesome job in the world . You have to give a ” too convincing ” answer in interview they will try to kill you ( if they are in BAD mood ) for leaving such a “responsible and beneficial job for the country”
I think in IES exam also , we need to fill the DAF form.There is no harm in referring the old DAF form, which you would have filled before :-) .
Can the attestation be done with a black ink pen. also need clarity on IRS(IT) ,IRS(C and E) and IAAS… how can they be ranked in the order of preference?

Obc certificate needs to be attested by whom? Instructions explicitly mentions about the attestation authority for age certificate and educational qualification certificate but not for obc certificate

And in my Certficate the following lines are not mentioned will there be any problem.
” O.M. No. 36033/3/2004-Estt. (res.) dated 9th March, 2004 and O.M. 36033/3/2004-Estt. (Res) dated 14-10-2008 and O.M. No. 36033/1/2013-Estt. (Res) dated 27th May,2013.”
in my certificate(dated october 2014) only the following has been mentioned
not belong to the persons/ sections* (Creamy Layer) mentioned in column 3 of the Schedule to

Upsc will ask you to send a copy of caste certificate with latest income criteria incorporated into it. Ie om dated May 2014.
@Zidaan: would i have to produce the caste certificate in original or an attested photocopy with DAF would do ?? Please help.
Attested copy would suffice as of now. Original SHOULD NOT be submitted with the DAF. If you submit original by mistake then UPSC will not take responsibility if it gets misplaced. You are required to carry original with you at the time of interview.
Brother! i guess the new certificates they are issuing does have that missing clause that you are talking about. Recheck with the authorities.

In DAF, they r asking ‘ If your Mother is in service,indicate the post held by her (If retired,indicate the post held by her at the time of her retirement)’.
What should I fill? ‘Pensioner’ or ‘Not applicable’ ???????

The pension comes under family pension. so you can say not applicable as far as mothers employment status is concerned, but you can mention the annual income accrued out of it.

I worked in IT company for 6 month and does not have a resignation letter..i want to mention my job..will upsc asked for any certificate relating my job..ya fir upsc has asked only for govt employee..

Mentioning it is upto you. They wont ask for resignation form or any other document in this regard.

I have colour blindness and i don’t know the extent to which i have colour blindness. If i fill IPS as my second choice, what will happen if i get disqualified for joining IPS, will i get other services or i will not get any other services.

Thanks for quick reply. Just wanted to confirm that, if i opt for IPS and i get rejected by medical board then, i will get something else instead of IPS that is next in the list in my priority. That’s let’say IRS, but i willn’t be altogether eliminated.

@Ratikanta, the prerequisites for IPS are already specified in the instructions every year (check gazette 2014 pdf file uploaded on UPSC website on 31 May this year,or link provided above by Mrunal sir).By now you should be already knowing your height,your built and other nuances in your personality that it requires for an prospective IPS officer to be.! Hope that will help :)
