UPSC Notification 2015 is out
- online application link: upsconline.nic.in
- Read the notification carefully before applying.
- Last date to pay fees: 18th June 2015.
- Last date to apply: 19th June 2015. Till 23:59 hours.
- Prelim Exam date: 23rd August 2015 (Sunday)
- Total vacancies: 1129. within that, 29 for physically disabled
Age & Attempt limit for UPSC
- Minimum age is 21 years.
- Age is counted on 1st August of 2015.
- Candidate who gave Prelims-2011, is eligible for one more attempt, even if he has crossed the age / attempt limit in following table. Ref: rule 3(ii)C on page 2 of notification
- Candidate already selected in IAS or Indian foreign service (IFS)- not eligible to appear.

Above relaxation are cumulative e.g. OBC candidate from J&K = 32 + 3(OBC) + 5 (J&K) = 40 years up age limit.
What doesn’t count as an attempt?
Ans. If you applied in previous exam, but remain absent in BOTH prelim papers, then your attempt is not counted.
Education requirement
- Bachelor’s degree from a university setup under union or state act or ‘deemed university’ under Union Government C.
- Candidates from last semester can apply, provided that they can show proof passing examination in October /November 2015. Because at that time, they’ll be required to fill up a new form for Mains exam (known as DAF form i.e. detailed application form).
- MBBS candidate must finish internship before interview phase.

Which jobs reserved for PH?
- 13 for Locomotor + 5 for blind + 11 for hearing impairment = total 29 jobs reserved.
- The ‘physical requirement’ for particular service, are mentioned in first table of the notification. from there you can find out whether your given disability is eligible for IAS / IFS or not?
Multiple applications by same candidate?
- Every time you apply, you get new registration ID (RID). you must preserve RID because you’ll have to quote it again in the Mains application form i.e. DAF form.
- If you applied multiple times (because of computer glitch, fee problem or xyz reason) then when downloading hallticket, you should use higher RID. Because higher RID corresponds to your latest application.

To claim OBC reservation benefit in UPSC, you need TWO certificates:
- OBC caste certificate
- Non-creamy layer certificate.
- Non creamy layer status depends on your parents’ income and property.
- It doesn’t depend on your income/property
- It doesn’t depend on your husband/wife’s income/property.
- If your mom/dad is government employee then INCOME criteria doesn’t apply. (e.g. if dad is class3 employee, then it doesn’t matter whether he gets 6 lakhs or 7 lakhs. You’re still non-cream layer. For more, read this PDF file click me)

Need your urgent help.. Last year I filled first form for IAS+ IFoS both.. then as I was not well prepared so chose to go with IFoS only to save chance. But the name of exam printed on the Admit Card was Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014. So, I am confused that if I filled second form for IFoS only then why my admit Card showed Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014.
and also while filling the form for 2015 how many no. of attempt should I show as this time I am apply for both ??
and if applying for IAS only…

Sir, I’m an OBC candidate and having a Non-Creamy Layer Certificate. My Non-Creamy Layer is valid up to 31 March of 2017 ( 31 March 2014 to 31 March 2017 ) but, my central OBC certificate does not mention any validity date on it.
I’m stuck in dilemma whether I need to get a new Central OBC certificate now or not, because an online form demands a date of issue of OBC certificate.
So far,I have asked many people regarding it ,but haven’t got a convinced reply.

The same query, that I have also appeared in 2011, However I have got 2 more attempts still even if I put No for 2011. My query is if I put Yes for have u appeared in 2011, will I still have 2 more attempts left for next year. That is “Am I getting 3 attempts now instead of Two”.

Can someone who knows exact details regarding this 2011 thing explain in details? Whether to write “Yes” or “No”. Understood clearly for those who have written in 2011 but not eligible this time. They get it another chance. But main issue is for those who gave 2011 and was not last attempt and also eligible this time both in terms of age and attempt. So what to write?

So the note section made it clear that it’s for those who gave 2011 (perhaps last attempt) and not eligible this time. clear for them.
But in the filled-up form. Question is “Did you appear in 2011?” So what about who said “NO” based on that they are eligible this time? And can we simply write “Yes” provided we gave in 2011 and also eligible this time?
Please some one who knows exactly enlighten us.

While filling up form, In Community Certificate Date field which certificate date is considered? Either Cast Certificate or Non-Creamy Layer Certificate?
U don’t require age relaxation as age for general ia 32 .beyond 32 u require relaxation.

a candidate has appeared in 2010 Civil services examination with age concession of 3 years( over 29 for general category ) I.e with DOB in jun 1978… Can he apply nuv too? he was denied chances in 2011,2012,2013,2014 due to overage. but with age limits for all categories revised by three years this time ,is he not deprived of his chances otherwise would have accrued to him! what must be the action to draw attention of upsc??

My father is a RETIRED headmaster(state govt empl, at first he joined as a group d officer then promoted, even promoted as HM after his 50th age), and my mom too working as a teacher(state govt) with payscale of 9300.. VAO officer says that they can take only the income as a base not the govt posting….if a person’s parent get salary above 25000 means they wont give obc non creamy layer,also they refuse to give me non creamy layer cert…. If u can pls help..pls send the link of GO for OBC criteria for government employee son/daughter…That only can help me to prove him..

I am attempting the civils 1st time with age 24 under SC category. I have confusion that what should I select ‘YES/NO’ for Age relaxation.
I am assuming that only after attaining 6 attempts same as Gen category students, I have to fill yes for age relaxation so that few more attempts will be given to me.
Please clarify as soon as possible.
