Background
After the change of civil service (Mains) exam syllabus in 2013, UPSC aspirants had been demanding additional age/attempt limit. Large scale protests organized during December session of parliament..
So far, UPSC and Personnel ministry had shown an indifference to these demands (as per the Minister’s reply in Rajya Sabha and RTIs to UPSC and Personnel Ministry.)
But now, Personnel Ministry’s official site has uploaded a new PDF notification:

It reads:
Subject: Civil Service Examination- Relaxation of number of attempts
The Central Government has approved “two additional attempts to all categories of candidates w.e.f. Civil Services Examination 2014, with consequential age relaxation of maximum age for all categories of candidates, if required.”

Then upper age limit turns out to be General = 32, OBC = 35, SC/ST=37.

My date of birth is 26/06/1977 n my age will be 36 years n 6 months on 1.1.2014. I am a ST candidate, hence as per new reforms of 2 more additional attempts will I be eligible to appear the cost 2014.

Sir, Is it true that the attempts for Gen candidates was increased to 6 and the age relaxation is 32? Is it officially notified by UPSC?? I heard that aspirants who gave their last attempt in 2012 are not eligible even though they did not cross 32. Is that true? Can you please clarify?

Thanks Krishna for your reply… But my concern is whether UPSC will allow aspirants who gave their last attempt in 2012?? I gave my last attempt in 2012 and also appeared for final Interview after clearing mains… I have the age but whether UPSC will allow me is a concern… Please clarify this…

Yes whenever UPSC shows its arrogance we UPSC aspirants will do dharna in KEJRI- STYLE.will get our bedsheet and takia and sleep whole night on Raisinia Hills.Next day everything will be ok and we can prepare peacefully. Doing protests in meagre numbers and intermittently dont help.

I gave my first and only attempt( due to age bar of 30 years in CSE 2012 ).I cleared prelims at that time. It is not clear whether I will again be eligible or not for CSE 2014. Should I hope ?
