218-222 me koi chance hai??
bhai i tried a lot but was not able to complete 2nd paper left around 20 question,
feeling extremely sad !!!
Bhai mera bhi 2nd ppr complete hi nhi ho paya .
Getting 204 only :( negatives in paper 1 , and tiredness in paper 2 ruined me … i guess cutoff for general would be around 220 …. Hoping for a miracle …. Anyways All the best to all the visitors of this blog .
Mrunal Ji…. when r u gona upload answer keys for GS paper 1??
M getting 148 in paper 1
ad 128 in paper 2…
A/C to CL Answer keys…
But MRUNAL JI I rely only on ur answer key…
mrunal sir ..thanks a ton for up loading the question paper ..i just want to know why upsc gives questions that does’nt make sense at all ..2014 contains some very vague Gs questions ..history questions are of no standard ..and world geography (they have taken us back to pre 2010 era )..arrange cities and all crap..paper 2 was lengthy and some of its quant questions were inexplicable ( i mean such were never asked )..i understand that culture is important,,env and biodiversity all over again ..no economy ..science n tech (as usual is unusual )… under dp agarwal we saw serious weird question paper trends ..
MORAL OF STORY( COMPLETE STUDY)
getting 52 in paper I and 100 in paper 2 sc category any chance
where can i get the answerkeys for set D both paper 1 & 2……..
Sir i got mark in paper fist 102 but less attempt in second pepar only 42question we will qualify for main
200…… 75 + 135….. any chance…
just wanna appear in mains…. :'( :'(
50 -50 chances Sir. Reason 1. Decision making 6 * 2.5 = 15
2. English 6*2.5= 15
3. Even Gaurav agarwal last year topper is saying paper was tougher than 2013.
4. Change in trend ” BACK BREAKING”
Overall 30-40 marks difference for sure, baaki jisko khush hona hai ho le , jisko gham manana hai mana le.
Picture abhi baaki hai dost
Bhai tera nahi hoga,,aur hona bhi nahi chahiye..jiska math itna weak ho..:p
No chance
Tension na lae bhai.
If you are OBC , chances are there . SC/ST then more chances. Sorry if you belong to general category
what will be cutoff ??
paper 1as per my view around 20 qs are in extreme doubt and answers will be decided by only LORD Curzon (UPSC)
I am getting 240….am i safe !!!!!
According to cl key answer, im getting 104 in gs(86 attempted 61 correct) and in csat attempted 71, getting 141…can anybody plz tell me is this sufficient to cross cutoff…for sc category
more than sufficient, subject to the keys don’t differ much from those from the “BOSS”(UPSC)

Question no. 82 (series D)
Question says, in india the problem of soil erosion is” ASSOCIATED” which of below
1.terrece farming: we can use the terrace farming to prevent soil erosion in hilly areas so this shows “ASSOCIATION” between them.
2.Deforestation: ok
3.tropical climate: in tropical climate average rain fall is higher which can leads soil erosion so this shows “ASSOCIATION” between them.
so answer should have to : D (all of above)
* Question no. 97 (series D)
Question says which of the following are “ASSOCIATED” with planning in india?
1. the finance commission: ??
2.the NDC:ok
3.the union ministry of rural development: now planning commission which ever schemes makes w.r.t rural areas it’s implementation lies to rural ministry so planning implimentation and rural minstry are associated.
4.the union ministry of urban development: same as above argument.
5.the parliament :ok
so answer should have to : D (all of above)
i think it’s 2 and 5 only because NDC give final touch deta h 5 year plan ko ki kya planning process hoga or kya target and strategy hogi for each ministry…..and parliament gives final assent……while rural and urban just follow those instruction they don’t plan anything they just implement
UPSC used word “ASSOCIATED” and “PLANNING” not “FORMATION OF PLAN” that’s why answer should have to be interpreted large instead of to be conservative.
Chitan, I think you are right in both. Regarding to soil erosion, its not effect of soil erosion but what it is ASSOCIATED with, hence d should be right. Next one is explicitly he mentioned ‘PLANNING’ only that is plan and simple(no where mentioned 5 year planning), hence I think d.
or bhai finance commission kese ho jayega………uska planning k koi kaam hi nhi h ……..wo sirf yeh btata h ki kis principles pe money distribute hoga state and centre k beech me ……….isliye all of the above to hi nhi skta
Planning means 5yr plans only… in indian context
Let me try to explain how finance commission is ASSOCIATES to “PLANNING”
when ever FC are set ups president can give some of subject on which it should requires to give recommendation. while giving such recommendation FC requires to take in to consider points like ‘RECOURSES OF CENTRAL GOVT. AND STATE GOVT.’ ‘PRICING OF UTILITY SERVICES LIKE DRINKING WATERS ETC’ these points are directly ‘ASSOCIATES’ FC with planning of both govt. at centre and states.
bhai chintan..wo provision kaafi wide h so u can’t be sure on it………
2 and 5 only correct hai, they are implementing plans not forming. They are associated with implementation not with plan formation.
SPot on chintan!!
Good explanation. Also Tropical climate and deforestation both cause Soil Erosion, But i think there was no option such as 2 and 3. Only option with which contained 2 nd 3 both was 1,2 and 3 . Which also supports your theory of “association” and not what causes. If it wuld have been “what causes soil erosion” then there should definitely have been an option of 2 and 3. UPSC is not that dumb to forget to put option 2 and 3.
i find the ans related with soil erosion same as u explain.
with due respect chintan ji u r overthinking.
1. Terrace farming is done so that the water doesn’t run off without the roots of crops getting enough time to assimilate enough water. when we prevent erosion we use fences on these terraces to prevent soil erosion. so even by the association definition it is not associated.
2.correct answer.
3. tropical climate does have a lot of rainfall but it also have a very very dense forest cover which prevents erosion ..hence no erosion. so even than this too is not associated with erosion.
correct answer is 2 only.
regards.
@chintan in q 82 in D please read again ” problem of soil erosion is” ASSOCIATED” it is not only associated but also problem so only Deforestation is ok. as terrece farming is solution and tropical higher rain and very dense forest with mangrove least soil erosion.
in 97 associated with planning finance commission only give suggestion to differentiate tax and other while union ministry of rural development/urban follow the planning and associated always show the procedure of happening so 2 and 5
Equatorial weather is related with soil erosion.
Expected Cut off I think
General: 210-220
OBC: 190-200
SC: 160-170
ST: 140-150
kya se kya ho gye… UPSC tere exam mein :( :(
I’m a Btech holder from a good college
For those who say CSAT is a biased exam….more inclined for engineers !
I managed to to do only 12 questions on numerical + aptitude wala part !
Comprehension consumed a lot of time !
looking forward to CSE 2015
I guess now we should start memorizing names of dances, names of tribes and communities and names of birds … LOL :D
All of you are criticizing the paper for so many Environment questions…..?
Don’t you know that the same paper is there for Forest services examination too? it was expected and it will continue to be …..there will be gud no. of questions from environment.
Dear Mrunal,
After six years I wrote this exam because of age relaxation, am really happy to say that your site give more inputs to me. I have a confident with help of your site I will became a civil servant.
You are doing a great job!!! Your way of analysis very nice. Your rocking.
Sir my marks may be in paper 1at 60-70 and in paper 2 at 160…is any chance…
* Question no. 52 (series D)
Question says consider following techniques/phenomenon and which of above use to create “TRANS-GENIC” crops?
1. budding and grafting in fruit plants : in these technique stem of plants are transferred not genes between the plants.
2. cytoplasmic male sterility: this technique used with in plant not genes transferred between the plants.
3. gene silencing: in this technique gene is silenced with in DNA where genes were already active by radiations so again no genes transferred between plants not done.
so as in definition of “TRANS-GENIC” crops genes should have to transferred between the living organisms.
so answer should have to : D (none of above)
I also marked option D, because of the same logic and I think it is the correct answer.
TRANS-GENIC biological term mean change of gene not to other but him/her self
धन्यवाद महोदय।
paper was on basic knowledge. except environment and culture other questions were based on NCERT
It seems that upsc has changed csat paper after govt resolution to remove English comprehension
